  • It feels so good to be sober. I was present for my family last night as we watched The Bachelor and woke up feeling great today. I’m moderating, not quitting. But I’ve been sober more than drinking lately. Great support here.
  • I’m in! My goal again for this month is to drink only on Friday night and Saturday, 2 glasses each instead of 3. We are going to an all inclusive resort this month so I will smartly indulge in food and wine.
  • Finally got audiobook of Naked Mind from library. I got though intro, chapter 1 and part of chapter 2 during my morning commute. I’ll be honest, and maybe it’s due to listening and not reading the words, she goes over my IQ level a little bit so far. Although I do get the conscious and unconscious mind stuff. interesting…
  • Been away for a few days in Florida. I had 2 wines and 2 beers, 2 vodkas in 4 days. I’m more disappointed in my carb/sugar intake actually. I was doing so good. But as we all remind each other, today is a new day. I deeply admire those of you who have stayed in track with your goals.
  • Safe travel vibes desperately needed my way. Supposed to fly out at 6am Saturday during big snowstorm. I either need less than 2 hour delay to make the trip worthwhile or complete cancel so I can rebook it without penalties. It is a 3 day trip to Tampa to celebrate my sons 16th birthday with my family down there. Sorry for…
  • Tonight was a good night. Because I had sparkling cranberry juice in my glass instead of wine, I managed to stay awake for the first time to watch a full episode of This Is Us and loved every minute of it!
  • A couple of you mentioned boredom and I think it’s so true. I drink out of sheer boredom when I get home from work.....Pour a glass of wine, sit on my butt and surf the computer or watch TV. I think I need to find tasks/activities to stay busy -at least for the 6 minute wave that the cravings last for!!. As the saying…
  • Someone here mentioned Pukka tea. I bought the Detox tea and it’s very nice. Also stocked up on sparkling cranberry juice and Ice sparkling waters. Trying, I really am.
  • Ok, trying again. My last post only partially showed up. Weird.......Dry January a wet one for me so far. Polished off a bottle of wine while talking on the phone for 2 hours last night. I just kept pouring my glass (I don’t stop at one, ever). I felt like poo poo this morning, headache, dry mouth, brain fog - trust me you…

  • That is interesting because I’ve experienced the very same thing! Things I used to enjoy, like reading, hiking, being outdoors, I’ve completely become anhedonic to. Makes me feel bored/boring to be around. Need to read this book!
  • Damp January!! You’ve coined a new term when one falls off the wagon. It’s ok. Tomorrow is a new day. I’ll never make it the full month either but I’m ok with this. I’m being healthier in other areas of my life.
  • Just saw Dr. Jennifer Ashton on Good Morning America. Interesting segment on alcohol dependency among women...wine is also called “mommy juice”, which sad but true for many of us. Also, Dr. Ashton is also doing a dry January from overindulging in recent months. See, even those famous pretty people on TV need to dry out…
  • What’s your best tip for avoiding alcohol? I’ll start......if I can make it past dinner, then my craving usually goes away. I try to ignore the urge starting at around 5:30. Anyone else have advice that works for them?
  • Count me in!! I enjoyed the November challenge we did together and I remember a few of you from that thread!!!
  • Caved last night too after a daunting 2 hour commute home from work. I feel foggy today as a result. Scale still moving in right direction so I can’t get too upset with myself. Guzzling water like crazy today to flush out.
  • Since November 1, I have made a conscious effort to reduce my daily wine intake. If I can make it past dinner, I’m good. It’s a daily struggle. But, I am down to just weekends and have lost 3.8 pounds. Sleeping better and mood is better. I’m drinking about 50 oz water daily.
  • Back in the saddle today. 3 day power outage, drank 3 glasses red wine past 2 nights and I feel like *kitten* for it. Don’t think I have the will power to limit myself to just 1 drink or only on weekends. I need to completely stop. I’ve put on 20 pounds in 3 years due to it and I feel gross. I like reading about others’…
  • Ugh. :( dropping out until the next one. Terrible storms last night, no power, anticipating losing all of my food in fridge and freezer. Need to just focus on this for now. And drink my water .
  • Just starting this whole MFP app. Starting weight 158, goal weight 135 by mid February. I am inconsistent with small will power. Hoping for accountability here! R21 goal is 154. 10/30 158.2 10/31 158? 11/1 158? 11/2 158.8 this morning which is really my official start wt, only found this group yesterday and “guesstimated”…
  • 2 glasses cab last night. But I exercised 30 minutes and hydrated well all day. Down 1/2 pound today. Goal is to stay sober this weekend since I indulged last night. It’s comforting to see there are other women out there in my situation. Thank you.

  • I’m on a roll. Only indulged once, (Halloween night 2 glasses) in 6 Days. I just try to distract myself during my normal wine time before dinner. Actually if I can eat dinner before I am tempted to drink, I don’t desire my glass of wine on a full belly!! I may allow myself a couple 1 night this weekend.
  • I am in US. So the fact that my actual challenges tab is empty means there aren’t any current challenges created by MFP?

  • New to this app but I need it. So glad to have found this challenge. I am ashamed to admit 2-3 glasses of wine 6 nights a week. I am challenging myself to cut it down to 1 night a weekend. It’s the empty calories, but the complete loss of will power after that second glass. Goal weight loss is 158 to 135 before mid…
