Looking for someone wanting or currently in p90x original program. I’ve been through it before. Currently in week 1. I have a tough time getting it in every day due to family and work constraints. Would be a big help to have someone to go back and forth to stay focused. P2P or friend me. Thanks. (I love the program. When…

It’s a yes and no. A calorie is a calorie in the strictest CICO sense but what those different types of calories can do to hormones, saity, and health really do matter. People here obsess over CICO imo. What many dont understand is that the type of “I” can affect the rate of “O”. That being said if a sweet a day keeps you…

You guys are misinterpreting my statement. If you’re pushing yourself AT FIRST you are going to feel like death. Because you’re out of shape. Now of course if you’re the type of person who is going to quit early because of it then you either need to slow down or get an accountability partner/trainer. That feeling goes away…

tldr answer 1. stretch stretch stretch. I do an hour and ahalfof yoga once a week 2. strengthen your core/abs. A strong gut protects a weak back. 3. lose weight if overweight. This helps everything. Heart, lungs, knees, back etc. I hurt my lower back when I was 15 and it still bites me occasionally as a 38 year old. Make…

after a week you will just be tired, but not sore. It just means you're off to a good start. Sounds liek you're over the hump. Congrats.

Greetings, P90X veteran here. Just started a new round of the original P90X this week. My off days are typically Saturdays although this week it ended up being on Tuesday. I have two young kids so I have to be at least a little flexible with the off days. If you want to friend me grayjoseph or any other P90X people fee…

Supplements have a definite place, but you must use extreme caution. As previously stated, OTC supplements are not regulated by the FDA. The manufacturers are not allowed to make any health claims. That's why the labels say, "Supports cardiovascular health" for cinnamon and "Supports Bone health" for chondroitin for…

Medical professional here- In my experience BMI is very good tool for people who need a general idea of what a healthy weight range looks like. I'm not really digging into body mass composition when I'm looking at a patient's chart, but I can get a quick idea of where they're at in relation to an ideal BMI. Once you start…

I disagree to an extent with those that say to pace yourself early on. I think for a lot of people "pacing yourself" is really just "not working hard enough." Most of us stop way too early. There are few who really push to true exhaustion. That's not to say that you should work yourself into an injury. It DOES mean that…

This deserves a caveat. Not everyone will experience this side effect, but some will. Always be aware of the potential side effects when trying a new drug. Friendly neighborhood pharmacist.

I hate the gym. I hate the inconvenience of having to go. I hate waiting for equipment. I hate looking at idiots who can't tie their shoes preening in the mirror. I work out at home and love it. For most people everything you need can be done at home for very little financial commitment. I've spent maybe $500 in my…

I'm a pediatric pharmacist. There are few things that get me fired up like this debate. I have seen children die of preventable diseases because their parents had read some .com website telling them vaccines are dangerous. The flu kills people. Period. More than anything, it kills children. The flu vaccine is one of our…

This is my problem with CICO. Tunnel vision. Of course the theory of the formula works, but there's a lot more to the story than just cals in cals out. ANy nutritionist worth their degree will tell you this. I don't think we're disagreeing on much actually. What I'm saying is cutting down on your carbs will go a long way…

As with all drugs used for weight loss, it's not a magic pill. It will help you, but if you want to be healthy you'll have to institute lifestyle habits that promote long term well being. This can help you get there though. The studies are out there. It works. Just don't count on it as the savior.

If you eat enough of something of course. Carbohydrates are sugars. Excess sugars are most readily converted to fat. It's a fact of biochemistry. cals in/cals out has been burned into our heads, but's more complicated than that. What you eat matters. Not just how much.

My understanding is that protein is important for muscle building. If your only goal is to lose weight, you can just watch your calories, although you won't necessarily be any healthier. The issue is that for most Americans we eat waaaaay too many carbs and way too much in general. Carbs are converted to sugar in our body…

it doesn't matter how much sodium you have for dinner. If you don't eat or drink anything after that your weight literally cannot increase. This is more likely due to scale fluctuations than anything. Think about it. If you put a gallon jug with half water and half chocolate on a scale it'll weight the same amount no…

The implication being that that would be an improvement over the current state....
