I'm 68y.o., obese and have been heavy since 35y.o. my knees are shot and the only thing that is helping me is my recumbent bike. Coupled with leg abduction and adduction exercises this is my primary form of aerobic exercise. I hope it will get better and less painful once I wear a few pounds off of this carcass of mine. I…

I don't know if this is the appropriate place to post this, but there has to be some type of app or program that I can accurately record my weight training and apply it to fitness pal. Fitness Pal is a very popular program, has management given up on the idea of some type of crossover for this. I mean we now have weight…

I was born and raised in Alaska, and before my futile and failed attempt to tame Alaska I snowshoed. I can't manage it with my knees now but it is an incredible workout. Dress appropriately because you will sweat yourself soaking wet in short order and in a short distance. There are a huge variety of shoes to choose from.…

Thanks to everyone, life keeps moving and so do we. I consider myself lucky, some of you fine people in America have to live through some seriously dangerous natural disasters, tornadoes, floods, hurricanes, fires, snakes(I hate snakes), bugs, heat and humidity above 90 degrees and 90%. I can put on extra clothes for the…

Thanks for the encouragement! When it's all said and done it was just "stuff" that got broke not people and pets. We have some pretty resourceful people up here in the "Far North". Power was back on in 4 hours and water in 6. Considering it was 19 degrees farenheit outside I think we fared very well. Nobody died. Always…

Its worth every effort you can make. Getting rid of sugar and artificial sweeteners was a major monkey on my back. I'm fairly clear of it now, thank God. PBB

Thanks, my friends, it's hard to keep up when everything is so new. I'm in such bad shape today and want to be in acceptable shape by tomorrow. The reality is it feels like I'm in prison. Only thing I can do is focus on my program and not get discouraged. All good things take time and commitment. PBB

I like jjpptt2 estimate, 3 calories for every minute of sustained strength work. Beautiful now all I need is how to log it in MFP. I still want to find a really good weight training app so I can customize my workouts and track my progress, BMI, Measurements. Any suggestions for a good app? PBB

Hello dewd2 I realized it's not a lot in certain circumstances but as hard as I'm working and sweating it's got to count for something. I'm already using the numbers off my NordicTrack recumbent stationary bike because MyFitnessPal seemed a little generous. Once I complete an entire circuit of steel my *kitten* is dragging…

Thanks for Hoorays, I'm a list maker and planner by habit, so I've stacked the deck in my favor. Outfitted a spare bedroom downstairs as my gym. I've got a Nordic Track stationary bike I'm using for aerobics and a Wieder Smith Machine loaded with all the bells and whistles. I've been in the room a week trying to workout…
