@WinoGelato yep! The back to back to back is met too! In the last 20 days I’ve been in Chicago, in Paso Robles wine country for my 40th and now in Mexico on vacation and then in a week I’m in SF. All these celebrations are catching up with me and I’m just ready to work out, eat salad and drink sparkling water :) I just…

I’m surprised that’s what he came up with! But at least you had the experience of a fun drink. I’ll never forget the amazing mocktail I got in SF when I was pregnant and on a work trip- it was like citrus, muttled with mint maybe are bitters NA? I feel like depth of flavor is what is missing with most mocktail! I also wish…

@JulieAL1969 you have been inspiring! I hope the party was fun AF. I went to a wedding in Jan when I was dry. It was fun but not “as” fun, mostly because of that mental thought process - like feeling punished. The next day I was so grateful to feel awesome, but I definitely didn’t want to stay late at the party by any…

@Cleosweetie I felt the same way about Mad Men!

Hello from Sayulita Mexico - it’s been a great week. The food and margaritas have been fabulous, but I definitely feel like I need a good long break from eating and drinking. I get home Sunday and then have to go to SF a week later for work so my goal is AF until then. I don’t feel bad about what I’ve have this week. Last…

I’m in Mexico!! Hard to resist the margaritas and Coronas but trying to moderate. I brought some Pukka tea bags and I’ve been cold brewing them and drinking the tea by the pool and it’s been great! Highly recommend. I have the vanilla chamomile one and it’s great cold.

So amazing. I spent a month in Italy after college and have been wanting to get back ever since. Florence was so beautiful. I know how you feel about wanting to get back on track after vacation. For me I am finding the most helpful think is to just not have everyday drinking wine in the house. I have a lot of nice bottles…

Thanks!! @dbanks80

I just spent my birthday weekend in Paso we had so much fun. If you have time bring bikes and go from winery to winery. :)
-
I haven’t been as successful this month. My 40th birthday, biking through wine country and work travel are primarily to blame. Need to get back on track!

Yeah in Jan when I was totally AF I expected to lose a lot and I did lose some weight but not as much as I expected. I always wonder if somehow wine calories are metabolized differently? I also think I eat more when I’m not drinking. I do not tend to be a snacker when I drink wine, but when I don’t it seems like I’m hungry…

Hi All, back from my birthday weekend. My husband and I rented an airstream AirBnb in Paso Robles, ca - gorgeous wine country - we brought our bikes and rode from winery to winery. It was seriously so fun, but lots of wine (though spread out). I am totally back to AF this week. Will definitely be checking in for…

Still in Chicago - @missmay I totally understand the reward or “I deserve it” mentality. Long work days ended with a nice dinner and some wine. They do small 5 oz pours at the hotel restaurant and I had two. Didn’t want any more than that and realized a few months ago I definitely would have gotten a third glass at the bar…

Hey all! I just got to Chicago today for work and wasn’t planning on drinking and then had two glasses of wine with dinner (by myself) I feel down on myself. I have a hard time not “rewarding” myself on work trips. At least I didn’t order dessert :)

I’m the same! I will also do beer because it takes me a long time to drink it - thus I drink way less. Wine goes down way too easy :) I also don’t love beer. I like it for sure! Especially a floral/ fruitier IPA but would choose wine given the choice.

With small kids our St Patrick’s day will be mellow, my husband will definitely buy some Stout beer, luckily I’ll be w my SIL who is pregnant and not drinking so that will help!!

I’m finding a lot of peace this month in seeing myself able to cut down my wine intake. I think a lot of it was pure denial and frankly habit. The education part of learning about the effects of alcohol have been really good. After Dry January I was nervous about whether my drinking would be a daily thing again, but I’m…

I love the Dry January app- I use it daily. It motivates me and it keeps me accountable. It allows you to put in your drinks and calculates units for you which is helpful because so many of us don’t realize how much we’re actually drinking.

This scares the crap out of me. Has anyone had one of these liver function tests?
-
That’s awesome. It’s true, you never wake up and regret NOT drinking. You only regret the opposite. It’s weird how sometimes it’s easy to not drink and other times it takes so much willpower to not.
-
Oh my business class amazing! Have so much fun. You definitely have the tools now to enjoy and not overdo it. Maybe try and savor slowly and see how long you can make things last! My problem is always the fast drinking!!
-
Nice!! Exactly what I think we will do. We love to hike, bike and play tennis so we’ll mix in lots of healthy fun!
-
Morning all! Catching up on the thread - I was saddened to see so much heartbreak. <3 I too tend to drink to numb emotions. Lately though it’s been more the amount of social activities going on. I am looking forward to a dry week, but next week I turn 40 and I’m going to Santa Barbara to celebrate and go wine tasting. I’ll…

I think the biggest trick is to find something you enjoy - whether it’s yoga or kettlebells or running. What makes you feel good? What is something you want to do. From a diet perspective it’s the same thing. Finding meals and joy in things you like and are good for you. I fail miserably when I try and “diet”.
-
It’s weird how “romantic” drinking is- but then you do it and it’s so anticlimactic. At least for me. Even after a few days AF I’m like ohh wine sounds good, but I think it’s more the idea of it than the reality. I’m realizing it’s hard for me to stop at one drink- fortunately it’s not hard to stop after two. So that’s…

Whoa! 400 calories! You could eat cake instead for that :) that was like when I was in college and would get Frappuccino’s until I found out the calories were crazy high! The calories in wine are definitely a motivator for me to not drink during the week. It’s not worth it!
-
Good for you! I was down on myself for drinking more days in a row than I planned but I’m taking 7 days off and loving it. I think the whole point of this is learning and growing and making mistakes and slowly bettering our lives. Crazy how alcohol can effect the mood!!!
-
@BuffMom84 its great you are staying strong even while watching your husband drink. I would have a really hard time if my husband drank wine (my drink of choice)
-
Haha love this group. Well, a pretty wet weekend but now I’m dry for the next 7 days. I’m trying to challenge myself to do a few different things (beyond not drinking- working out an hour a day, drinking more water, and no iPhone use until my kids are in bed) - I watched that video Julie posted today and the girl mentioned…
