  • Thanks ya all! I do love doing this and I expanded my walk to the local college campus duck pond as well. Can't have the duckies picking up things and choking!
  • No its not like the military thing. There's a balance but they included grapefruit and I was just wondering if anyone knew of any fruit that could replace grapefruit with the same calorie count and benefits, that's all.
  • You assumed wrong sorry. I was looking at menus for for 1300 calorie menu plans and they called for grapefruit. Nothing nefarious dude.
  • When I went to the commissary (military base) this week I noticed that they have smaller portioned servings of mixed yogurts for kids. You know- the stuff that has chocolate chips and granola in it. Because they're portioned for children, they're fewer calories but I still got the chocolate n granola "fix"- just portion…
  • Today I began with protein: 1 cup 1% cottage cheese with a little scallion on top Lunch will be a lightened up version of grilled cheese and my homemade tomato soup Dinner: pork loin with roasted root veggies and fresh steamed green beans Snack is Schwans' mini chocolate bars. They're awesome!
  • Young, what I found was that, when I cooked roasts in a slow cooker they always came out either dry or sitting in a pool of grease. YUCK! And still dry on top. I was SO amazed at how fork tender and juicy the roast came out! Next time any kind of roast is on sale at the store- I'm buying it up!
  • Well I made my first roast beef in my IP this weekend. YOWZA! Came out great and in half the time easily! I was even able to make a gravy from drippings (used cornstarch not flour).
  • please pass along how to do this! :)
  • Could you post the recipe for homemade yogurt in the instant pot? I love unflavored yogurt. Also, is this Greek?
  • When I was a kid, my Dad used to motivate us to do chores by telling us that, at the end of the chore, awaited a surprise. So we did our chores for the surprises. I remember one time I had to scrub the tub. When I was done and it was all shiny, Dad gave me my surprise. A brand new can of Ajax. Anyone else see something odd…
  • Hi there Ronda. This is my first time greeting someone like this normally I read and "like" (do the same on facebook too). Just to let you know- I've been there. I am now at 250 but had lost 155 pounds. So I was a pretty big gal. I actually became diabetic, insulin reliant type 2. I was up to 100 units per day, along with…
  • Can a relatively new person mentor someone else? I know I'm learning and such myself and have already had a do-over. But I think I could at least be an encouraging soul to someone who feels like they're kind of alone in this venture. I'm a 62 year old humorist (and yes, there is such a thing) who likes to use humor to keep…
  • try it! its really good and makes 4 servings and using the baked won tons as spoons means you can kind of do a community chow down! lol
  • So, I've been cooking in my IP a while now and truly I do love this! So far: chicken italiano, egg roll in a bowl (deconstructed egg roll), swiss steak, and several other things including congee, which turned out great!
  • Here's what I did. I added the flour to the greek yogurt. It has to be GREEK because it needs to be thick. The thicker the better. I also added in 1 tbsp of italian seasoning, and a tsp of garlic powder (not salt). I found I also had to flour the surface and the rolling pin and grease my hands with a bit of spray. The…
  • This is a new one on me! What are the ratios?
  • Hi. I belong to a facebook group of weight watchers devotees. They're nice folk but when I went to their website I discovered that its not affordable for those of us on fixed incomes. WW withholds information to force you into purchasing their product and, while I'm all about a commercial economy, I think if they will be…
  • Oh wow! This could be a new good thing! eatpalmini.com/ am looking into this now. Reviews on Amazon seem good. https://amazon.com/Palmini-Calories-Carbs-Vegetable-Linguine/dp/B0711R3XS4?th=1 Here's the drawback: price At WalMart, the king of discounters, its 10$ for a 1 lb can which we can assume includes water weight. The…
  • Am going to look into this as a possibility!
  • Not at all. And they're not marinated. they're packed in water. You can find them usually in the oriental section of your favorite grocer. Walmart carries them.
  • Peas would probably work since they're closer to corn in texture than cabbage. Cabbage has so much water when it cooks. But I wonder too, maybe cooked, ground up chick peas?
  • Thanks! Part of the issue was a move. We moved from one location where I lived 20 years to a new place and didn't even have a home to move to, yet! So anxiety set in. We stayed in a mini-apartment and I did cook but to be honest, I gave myself permission to fall off the wagon, rationalizing I needed to treat this like a…
  • Yeah. I have some health issues that inhibit the types of exercise but not all exercise. I found out years ago that I like walking if there's sidewalks. Don't like walking in the street, peoples yards or drainage gutters. But this neighborhood has sidewalks. When it rains I can hit a nearby large store like Wally World or…
  • I just used mine for the first time last night making a recipe for picadillo. It turned out good! I would lower the amount of sauce though. Personal preference. PICADILLO (INSTANT POT) I N G R E D I E N T S : • 1-1/2 lb 93% lean ground beef • 1/2 large chopped onion • 2 cloves garlic, minced • 1 tomato, chopped • 1…
  • I cant eat corn but im guessing there could be a good sub?
  • sounds kinda cool!
  • LOL okay thats funny! lol. Well I went to the one yesterday after my daily trash pick up (what I'm doing for exercise is walking my neighborhood area and picking up trash). Anyway, there was a mound of fruit in the middle of the table. I thought: huh? I was the baby of the bunch and I'm over 60. Anyway, they did a weigh in…
