Back after a long absence (April) after a job change, big holiday, phone update (I've had to switch from Happy Scale to Libra, </3), and…
  • @kandeye @hanlonsuk Seriously 75lb OHP is impressive! It is genuinely my worst lift. I'm almost debating if I need to go to a seated OHP to sort out my form for a bit, but I really don't want to... Plodded along fairly silently through September - changed jobs so I wasn't in the forums as much as normal, but I've been…
  • Oh no @Dory_42! Hope everything heals up quickly! And @krokador, I think those tips will really help on the OHP...Will let you know on Saturday ;) Today was good, my mind isn't there at the minute but thankfully my body is. Squats 5x5 @ 45kg Bench 5x5 @ 27.5kg Row 5x5 @ 37.5kg - wasn't going to progress, but did 1 rep to…
  • Thanks @Dory_42! Seems so obvious once you know it ;) EMOTM sounds like the grown-up version of the horrible bleep test in gym class though *shudder* Today's workout felt REALLY really good. Definitely making progress! Squats 5x5 @ 42.5kg OHP 5x5 @ 22.5kg - much less messy than last time, but still not pretty. Debating…
  • Sunday's workout was a bit half-hearted, as I was just completely exhausted, but I made good progress, so swings and roundabouts, I guess... Squats 5x5 @ 40kg - Back on the big girl plates, yes Bench 5x5 @ 25kg - these actually felt really good, super pleased! Row 5x5 @ 35kg - looked messy. Might stick at 35kg next time…
  • Hahaha same. And as soon as I realised it, and if I felt like I was having a really off-plan day, I would try EXTRA hard to breathe out really enthusiastically :D
  • Haha I love this thread! Makes me feel a lot better about the super petty days that are deffo part of this journey... 1. I'm SICK of being average. I've never been "fat" but I've never been "skinny" either. So I want to be on the low end of a healthy BMI, not always in the boring mediocre middle 2. I want to be "the hot…
  • Do you use a trending weight app like Libra or Happy Scale? I'm 5' SW 136, CW 113 (which is my body's "happy weight"), GW 105ish. Without the trending app I would have gotten so frustrated, because when you're small, losing slow & steady, its hard to see the little changes - I'm at .5/week rate. But I like seeing that…
  • Despite dealing with the randomest doms ever (just my right quad???) managed quite a good session this morning: Squat 5x5 @ 35kg Bench 5x5 @ 22.5kg Row 5x5 @ 32.5kg Dips @ BW 7/6/5 - but my form has definitely improved Push ups @ BW 3x10 Planks @ BW 3x35 sec
  • Yes, like @sarahbums said, you don't want to set yourself up on a binge-restrict-binge cycle, too easy to get stuck in it, even though your brain "knows better"... I usually go with something like this formula: 1. Don't feel bad about yourself 2. Eat when you're hungry. I normally find after a big/unplanned meal the night…
  • Hi all! New to the group but not new to SL, but restarting the programme after a long absence so lifts are light atm. This round I'm focusing on adding more accessory lifts for my own entertainment more than anything... Emphasising upper body as that always lags way behind! Goal is to get to at least 1 unassisted chin up &…

Right, I think I'm back in the right headspace for May, after really finding myself in a motivation funk towards the end of last month. I…
  • Ending the month on a high, but with a caveat - I really need to get my consistency in check. It's pretty abundantly clear that StrongLifts - or at least having a dedicated lifting programme - is working wonders on my body composition. But my diet has been all over the place. I really let my snacking habit and weekend…
  • Bit of a weird one, weight's ticking down, but BFP went up? To be completely fair, my diet's been a bit inconsistent, but then my workouts have been up... I dunno. It's going the right way! I suppose I should be pleased! This week's goal is to tighten up logging, and really kick the last week of April's butt for some…
  • I've had them on both wrists - and was categorically told my my doc NEVER to hit them with a book, that's an old wives tale. They're basically just a lil tear in your connective tissue that fills with fluid. The lump comes when that fluid calcifies. So either your body absorbs the calcification and it goes away, or you…
  • I am such a fan of omelettes - I can be so lazy in the evenings... and when you add in whatever assorted fridge veggies you have left/take your fancy they can be super filling for minimal effort. I also try and cook up a few chicken breasts to just have on call during the week to - again - dump on my plate with random…
  • Just a quick update - went to the chiropractor last night which COMPLETELY sorted me out - and reassured me that my gym/StrongLifts routine wasn't causing any harm... if anything it's my desk set up (sedentary jobs will kill you, man). Woop! Back on it! Let's smash this week!
  • While the weight lost might not seem significant, I'm thrilled by the dip in BFP, and watching the moving average come down. In fact, I would consider this week a total success. StrongLifts going well, I really like the format of the programme, so I'll keep you updated on how that goes, but I love having a set programme so…
  • Hopped on the scale yesterday for my weekly check in and literally could not believe it (still don't really). What a whoosh! Still not unconvinced it's a fluke - note my much higher moving average, and it also match up with how I've been eating, etc. - but it's a very motivating way to start the month at least! I've also…
  • I'm 5ft too, and am also plagued by the dreaded pooch - even when I was down near 7.5 stone it was still there! I think a recomp like @sardelsa said is probably the way to go, and it's what I'll be doing once I strip back a biiiit more body fat. Good luck! And congrats on losing 2 stone - that's awesome work!
  • Height: 5'0" / 153 cm HW: 61.7 kg GW: 47.5 End-of-March SW: 53.4kg / 30.2 % BFP (Moving Average 53.5 kg) April GW: 52.5 kg / 29 % BFP April 6: April 13: April 20: April 27: Hello again lovelies! This time, I'm on for breaking into the elusive 20% body fat range. Woo! And to put some of March's emotional chaos behind me.…
  • No pic yet - but I'm 5ft, and I've managed to get rid of just about 15lbs in the last 6 months (and even better 3.35" off my waist!). Halfway there! While its (unfortunately) a painfully slow process for us shorties, stick with it! The process does work :)
  • Yes @gutsnglory6! No measure of BF (especially ones that are affordable and regularly available) is *truly* accurate.... But as long as it's a consistent measure, it'll give a good picture... right? At least that's what I tell myself ;P
  • My mini goal at the moment is to get to the weight that I said I was on my driver's license! :D
  • Woo! Made it! March has by far been the toughest month on my journey so far, both from a health and an emotional standpoint (I know, I know, weight loss isn't linear blah, blah) but it's over, and goals are met! Phew! But my biggest accomplishment of March has nothing to do with me. After watching me go though this process…
  • I just made this last night... and oh my golly gosh it is worth ALL the hype!
  • If it helps, I do my "official" weigh ins, once a week, in the evenings for consistency. This also gives me an idea of where my body is at at its heaviest. But I also do daily morning weigh-ins using the Happy Scale app to track the day-to-day fluctuations and get that little reward from a smaller number too :)
  • @Urbancowbarn to be fair, I average .225% on fat loss. Slow & steady :)
  • Much better week than the last few, down to a few main changes: 1. I'm not sick. And that has made a massive difference. Stepped up training, PB'd on deadlifts (which still scare the crap out of me), and all around just feel more physically ON IT. 2. I stepped it up at the gym (see point 1). I knew my exercise has been on…
