Lower belly

Hi, I’m 5ft and I weigh 8.3 stone. I do a lot of HiiT workout and abdominal exercises. Over the past year I’ve lost 2 stone and I can’t seem to shift my lower belly pooch. I used to do a lot of running and stopped when I didn’t see any results. I eat around 1200 calories a day and usually have around 500 deficit a day using fitness pal.
Please can someone help? What am I doing wrong?
I did try weights for around 3 months but my pooch didn’t move an inch.
Thank you.

I'd go recomp, maybe lose a couple more pounds first.0

The last bits of fluff take time. Read the So You Want a Nice Stomach thread in the stickies.0

So my first question would be and I do not mean to be rude, but have you had any children? Sometimes women who have had children just have a hard time losing that pooch belly.1

I’ve not had children no. Just gained a lot of weight and now lost everything I’m happy with. The Pooch just wont go!

I’m happy with my weight thanks, losing more would make me look ill in the face.

It looks to me like your pooch is partly fat and partly postural. For the fat you just have to keep losing weight until it goes - for many women it's the last to go. But for improving your posture you can do core and stretching exercises. Work on your hip flexibility, do posterior chain work like squats, try an ab roller. Work on standing up straight - activate your booty by clenching those cheeks, engage your core and "hide" your rib cage - don't let that hip tilt and your ribs and stomach stick out!2

So recomp then3 -
If you are interested in maintaining but working on changing your body composition, look into recomp and check out this thread:

Most important will be lots of patience as the process is quite slow. Stomach can can be the last place to go for many.2 -

Then I think what you need is to get with some kind of program and stick with it long term. I know it can get very frustrating when you dont see results, but from your pic you look just fine to me. i wish i had that problem only I look more like I'm 5 months pregnant.
It is that last bit that is the hardest to get off. Patience is the most i can say and sticking to something.0 -
What results did you expect to see from running apart from increased fitness, improved endurance and a higher calorie allowance? (You did eat back your exercise calories I hope when you had such a small calorie goal?)
What results did you expect from your HiiT workouts (I will assume they were circuit training if you were doing a lot of them) beyond a small strength increase and improved conditioning?
What results did you expect from abdominal exercises apart from increased strength in your abdominal muscles and possibly better posture?
What results did you expect from just 3 month of unspecified 3 weights?
(The answer to what are you doing wrong is most likely unrealistic expectations from the exercises you choose paired with impatience.)2 -
I'm 5ft too, and am also plagued by the dreaded pooch - even when I was down near 7.5 stone it was still there! I think a recomp like @sardelsa said is probably the way to go, and it's what I'll be doing once I strip back a biiiit more body fat. Good luck! And congrats on losing 2 stone - that's awesome work!2
