I just saw the FitBit Alta (not the heart rate version) on sale at Walmart for around $60. Its the one I have, and I like it for its simplicity.

BIG fan here! I have been on a Jessica Smith kick since last February, own the 30-day program and all three of her Walk Strong programs, and follow her recommended rotations for her videos - it's the most consistency I have experienced in the past decade. I do four-six week rotations, and my goal is to finish the rotation…

For me, it's about not beating myself up when I want a cookie (or eight, lol). When I eat the eight and blow my calories for the day, I shrug my shoulders and move on. It doesn't mean that I don't recognize the fact that I may not lose weight as fast that week, but I no longer make it about my character flaws or lack of…

I actually hadn’t thought of that possibility. I just worry about overestimating the number of calories weight training burns so I’ve been taking whatever my FitBit gives me ( which is basically nothing). Is that wrong? Should I be adding in weight training into my logging?

Thanks every for the additional ideas and comments! Really appreciate it. I don’t log my water intake, but I probably do need to be more conscious of it. Last winter, I drank five or six 18 oz mugs of herbal tea a day, and I did find it curbed my appetite quite a bit and helped me fight of the need for sweets. I probably…

Yes, I agree.

No, I have not consciously taken a diet break then. I didn’t stop logging - I did stop weighing/measuring with precision accuracy, so I may have been eating at or close to maintenance, but not on purpose.
-
By the way, this thread has been really therapeutic for me - my frustration is subsiding. Thank you all.

Logging was relaxed for a period over the summer, but I have tightened it up again. I weigh everything, and even when my logging was relaxed, I still weighed almost everything, and logged every single meal. I’m not concerned about my logging now - I’ve got that. My clothes fit great - I still have some work to do though. I…

I have not done an official diet break, but I did ease up on my logging for about a month in August/September. I was still losing weight but I was not hyper focused on it.
-
Yep, that’s the plan!
-
YES. This is very much what has happened to me. I think I need a break to recalibrate. My hunger has subsided in the last week since I have switched back to cardio. I’m feeling more energized and am having more fun with my workouts. I’m just going to take it easy through Thanksgiving and then adjust my strategy. I’m…

Thanks very much for all of your responses. Some answers: jemhh - I am less concerned about the stalled weight loss than I am about the waning of my motivation. I do think I need to at least make sure that I am getting enough protein. I gravitate toward a carb-heavy diet (many veggies!), and I just may not be fueling…

Been some time since I posted a NSV. I thought I'd hit a bit of a plateau - losing VERY VERY slowly, like a fifth of a pound per week - since July. Took a look at my food diary and realized that I am not really in a plateau - I'm just not logging/measuring as aggressively as I was when I was losing a steady 1/2 lb per…

I have worked out at home exclusively for the last fifteen years. I quit the gym because I was getting sick often, and it always coincided with my gym visits - so I decided to ditch the germs. I also found that it was far more cost efficient for me to invest in some solid gym equipment and DVDs than it was for me to spend…

Amazing job and god bless you!

Nobody has mentioned home workouts. I started by using videos with dumbells and resistance bands at home with instructors who give very specific instructions on form and a full length mirror - I love Cathe Friedrich and Jessica Smith. Bought new dumbbells as I progressed. I loathe weight lifting and don’t see myself as a…

You are just crushing life!! Congratulations!

It's not so much that I am tired of it - it just makes me incredibly self-conscious. I started on this journey over 9 months ago, and I have lost pretty slowly - about 23 lbs to date (around a half a pound per week). All of a sudden, about a week ago, I started receiving a number of compliments at work, and a lot of "how…

I was approached by five people at work in the last week about how amazing I look, which is incredibly flattering. But I got weirded out when one of these people said that I am the talk of the entire office. My 25-ish pound loss so far has been completely on the down low (I generally don’t talk about it) so it’s pretty…

What you just described would be a trigger for me. Putting the PB and chocolate away would not be a deterrent for me just going and getting it out of the cupboard again. I do, however, allow myself ice cream every day - my six year old son and I have dessert together every night, and the combination of single serve…

Exactly. In my state, the only professionals that have a guaranteed educational background are registered dietitians. ANYONE can call themselves "certified nutritional guru/coach/nutritionist", but none of those designations mean anything in my state.

Exactly - "guy" is just trying to sell shakes.

Dessert every single day here (REAL dessert, not “yogurt and fruit” lol). Down 25!
-
Juice, store bought yogurt (except for the plain no fat greek yogurtI use to make my veggie dip)

The second picture brought tears to my eyes - you both are beautiful!
-
I love this sooooo much!!
-
You were beautiful before, and downright cute now! Inspirational - I am a 40-something looking to drop 40 lbs total, and I'm so glad to see it can be done (I'm half way there!) Congratulations on all of the success!

I have been using Jessica Smith's Walk Strong series - there are three, and I used the original Walk Strong set (six week rotation) and Walk Strong 2.0 set together with her six week rotation. I have been using Jessica's workouts (both her free YouTube videos, of which there are hundreds, and purchased DVDs) exclusively…

Today, I finished a full six week rotation of a workout video program for the first time ever. I usually just do whatever video I feel like doing, but that strategy has historically left me woefully short on strength training (I'm a cardio junky!). I knew that if I ever wanted to maintain muscle, I would need to do…
