  • Nothing has changed that I am aware of.
  • Since I frequently vacation in the South, I hope I can remember the perfect come back that sounds nice, but, I have been told is really a non-vulgar way of saying, "F#$# off!" "Why bless your heart. Don't you trouble yourself on my account."
  • Yeah. I was starting to get really resentful (at how difficult it was to reach the Fitbit calorie burn goal on the weekend), until someone pointed out to me that it was a difference between lifestyle (during the week) and exercise sessions (the weekend). During the week, I am active for about 15 hours/day. I was trying to…
  • Disregard my previous reply. I decided to re-read that thread and got reminded of a few ideas I had forgotten. I also got a chuckle because I too have gone from being proud of my efficiency in making the fewest trips to complete a task, to trying to figure out how to add steps (literally and figuratively) to the activities…
  • I never thought of it that way. I do have control and perfection issues so that will be hard to wrap my head around.
  • I read that thread a while ago, which started the whole "I need to move more when I am not exercising" mind set. But, thank you. I now pace, fidget, and rarely sit down during the week. I now realize, I need to get rid of the belief that the weekend is for relaxing, and pace and fidget on the weekend also.
  • I have a Fitbit Blaze. Per Fitbit, I need to burn a certain amount of calories each day to meet my calorie burn goal. During the week, my two 30 minute exercise periods, and just living (NEAT) accomplish that goal. On the weekend, my two 90+ minute exercise periods, and just living (NEAT) fall short of that goal. Since the…
  • This was one of my PT exercises so this is a go!
  • I was hoping to hear from those that had an injury and were working through it, so your advice was very helpful!
  • I started watching out of curiosity, then continued out of fear (this is what happens if you don't CHECK YOURSELF!). Now I watch it for the excuses, many of which I have used myself, and Dr. Nowzardin's responses. (To paraphrase one for example: Unfortunately, there is always going to be stress in life. You need to find a…
  • Update: No longer having problems getting fiber from food. So many vegetables & legumes to choose from. The protein is still a problem. I eat a lot of a variety of beans, but I increased my calorie intake to 1500/day, which increased the grams of protein! But, I'm still working on it.
  • Thank you for the replies. Some of these I will have to look for YouTube videos, since I am not familiar with them, but this gives me hope. I need to start working on recomp, especially for my lower body. The pain sometimes occurs during my sets, and then lingers on for a couple of hours. It isn't severe, but it is…
  • Are you looking for sweet or savory recipes? Do you add supplements? Freezing fruit portions in advance helps. If you are going savory, those pre-measured pouches of tuna or salmon, blended with cottage cheese can be a yummy cold "soup". I add dill. I haven't tried them pre-made though. IMO, just about anything you can eat…
  • Small, Medium, Large as measures. My idea of small may be vastly different from someone else's idea of small. Or, "a handful..." of nuts (or raisins, etc.) as a suggestion for a healthy snack.
  • OMG, this. Listings that say, "1 tbsp unpopped kernels" . What am I supposed to do, rip open the microwaveable bag, and measure it out, popping only that amount for a single serving?
  • Or, how about when the label doesn't say whether the serving includes the liquid? Some cans of beans will say, "drained", but others don't. This is very imprecise, someone could fill the cup with the solids, while other people dump directly from the can, and someone else pour in the liquid, then add the beans until the cup…
  • This made it worth it to me. And I paid for the full year, thru the Play store, which included a free trial month, so it averaged out to less than $4 a month, much less than I previously spent on junk food in a day.
  • Try planning your day's meals in advance and only eat what you planned.
  • I use Jarrow Formulas Unflavored Whey Protein. I get it from Amazon.com. The ingredients say: 100% Ultrafiltered Whey Protein and Lecithin (from sunflower). That's it. It has 18g protein and 1g carbohydrates per scoop (90 calories). I like it best when I am making Greek yogurt or other dairy type smoothies. For just fruit…
  • Thank you to all those that replied with their own experiences with coping with this type of living situation.
  • Thank you all for your replies. I am now looking into Asian-Indian meal suggestions because they seem to have a lot of suggestions for protein & fiber-rich meals
  • Black beans seem to be the best source of protein and fiber but there a hundred and fifty calories per half-cup. Most of the vegetables listed on the Mayo Clinic site show fiber starting at 5g per cup or less. That doesn't seem very high fiber to me, although green peas and artichokes are higher I'm not sure if they mean…
  • Lots of good tips! Thank you for replies.
  • I am not sure why you say I am judging. I am stating facts. That is what they eat. I asked how others cope.
  • Tried to skip today. Something I last did effortlessly 40+ years ago. I think I may have seriously injured myself! :D :p
  • I have a friend whose husband says he is allergic to whatever is being forced on to him. I have used that, and, "I am not feeling that great right now", (also, "I have an upset stomach right now", "Every time I have eaten today I get violent diarrhea", etc.) If they reply, "You never were allergic to this before!" I tell…
  • Since I knew what the menu was in advance (and that there would be lots of junk food available) I was able to pre-log days in advance and get my mind "right" before the day arrived. I tried to overestimate calories also, just in case, all that rich food. (I did dream that I pigged out on cupcakes though, and had to assure…
  • Hi there! I just paid for a year long membership at a local rec center. I am determined to no longer be the one huffing and puffing up the foothills I hike, so I feel you. (While there may be a few that are there to snark on other's progress, or perceived lack thereof, I find that most people are too involved with their…
