  • Note: My family knows nothing about the ED which developed after I had moved thousands of miles away.
  • I probably should have mentioned in my original post that I have an ED. Addicts don't get to have, "just one drink". And people prone to binge eating, purging and starving themselves, don't get to have "just a little bite". It very quickly becomes a very slippery slope. But I was just trying to keep it light and stick to…
  • Thank you to all who replied. I like "deflect" because I've become practiced at that. ;)
  • Thank you for reminding me of that book. I read it many, many years ago and what I remembered from it was, just because the music is playing doesn't mean you have to dance. I forgot about that book and the tips that it helped me with.
  • @sollyn23l2 Thanks for the reply. I have seen packages where the amount of calories for the entire package doesn't make sense based on the calories for multiple servings, but then when looking at the net weight I can see why. If one serving is 35 g and the entire package is 80 g, then that needs to be figured in when…
  • Thanks for your response but that doesn't address what I am asking for.
  • I deleted the multiple entries over an hour ago, and now they are back. Grrr... There are 12 entries that I have to keep deleting from multiple devices, because deleting on one does not have an effect on the others.
  • Oh hell yeah! Bring on the pity party.
  • Some people have no filter, they just say whatever comes in to their minds. As adults, you would think they would know better, but not everyone's life experiences teach them anything. It would be nice if everyone saw the poster I saw as a kid, "Before putting mouth in gear, engage brain." That said, I feel for you OP.…
  • I sprinkle a packet of Splenda on a 1/2 or full cup full fat (4% milk fat) cottage cheese, add cinnamon and mix it up. It is so good and only 110 or 220 calories (not counting the Splenda which adds about 4 or 8 calories. According to the USDA site, the amount of cinnamon I add, is 0 calories.)
  • For me, the "inner child" thing is a kind of, "nah, na, nah, na, nah nah, you can't make me, I will do what I want! :p " Also for me, eating healthy and being active takes determination, dedication and commitment. In a sense strictness. I had a severely strict upbringing and became a rebellious teenager. Overly strict…
  • Even if it is just shuffling around your home or even bedroom - activity does help. But I understand this may not always be possible on the darkest days.
  • As the above have said, physical activity. For me, it has to be for a minimum of 30 minutes (I try to do at least 60 minutes, 5 days a week) and physically taxing. Not so strenuous that I collapse afterwards, but taxing enough that my heart rate is elevated to "cardio" for at least 30 minutes. (I wear a HRM.) Since my…
  • It seems like no matter what's going on some people just have to be Judgey McJudgepants, or hijack a thread with side discussions instead of starting a new thread or sending messages. That being said, Cheese. I miss being able to eat as much cheese as I want without worrying about the calories. The same with nuts. The days…
  • Jeez! This is turning into a discussion on smiling. Maybe a new thread? "And now, here's something we hope you'll really like." -Rocket J. Squirrel I like being well hydrated, but man, all the trips to the bathroom?
  • I'm wondering why you feel like you are not getting it right. Please elaborate. You eat a cookie, you log a cookie. You eat spaghetti & meat sauce for dinner, you log spaghetti & meat sauce for dinner. You eat salad for lunch, you log salad for lunch. You eat eggs & bacon for breakfast, you log eggs & bacon for breakfast.…
  • I call these eggie cheese muffins - don't want the copyright police coming down on me. :D About the roof stuff. Yeah, I fell off a ladder a couple of years ago, trying to install a kitchen ceiling fan. Was pulling on the hammer to get that one last stubborn nail out of the stud, the hammer slipped, I went flying backwards…
  • I have been running at least once a day for an hour 5 days/week for about 9 months. Aside from the fact that I love to run, I have steadily been losing about an inch a month in my hips and thighs. I also maintain a calorie deficit though, with strict logging. Edited to add: My hips and thighs are the very last place I lose…
  • Depression. Happens every time. The longer it lasts, the more weight I gain. I know that staying active helps alleviate the symptoms, but it is so hard when all I want to do is stay safe in bed, in a dark room, watching videos and eating.
  • Yeah, I miss not caring how much something "cost" before I ate it. Just stuff whatever, whenever into my piehole. Lying around, mindlessly eating and binge watching stuff on the weekends. A thing of the past. sigh
  • Western society is very much geared towards time saving, efficiency, and the smallest energy effort possible output, while constantly promoting super-sized, bulk packaging, more for your money, and convenience foods. Lots of sedentary entertainment, and talking to your house to get it to do what you could do yourself, etc.…
  • Found out we have reservations for the group on 2 evenings: PCH Grill & Wine Country Trattoria. The menus are online, so I get to plan ahead, which helped me relax a bit. Meals during the day, are on the go and on our own, so I won't feel pressure to eat anything I don't want to spend the calories on. Thanks for all the…
  • This. It does help to stay on track when I remind myself of this. It seems almost nothing tastes as great as it smells (mostly talking fast food here). Either my memory of it is way overrated or the recipe has changed since the last time I ate it.
  • I wish that were true but I gained the weight I did because I can do 10,000 calories a day easy. :( (I have backtracked and counted the calories that I have eaten during a binge and it has been in the 10K plus range.) Believe me it's no struggle.
  • My main problem is we stay at one of the resorts in the park. So, Downtown Disney is very much available after the park is closed. I love going to Napolini, having a glass of wine and a big thick slice of greasy pizza or a beer and loaded fries at Splitsville and people watching. When we went in April, I did just that.…
  • While I was in the weight loss phase, I discounted the fat burning zone figuring CICO was enough to do the trick. Now that I am in maintenance (except for trying to replace a few stubborn remaining pockets of fat with lean muscle tissue), I have been paying more attention to form and training. I hope to do my first 10k…
  • Thank you all for your helpful replies. We will be there for 4 days so it's not just one day of indulgence, but I plan on having a good time, just in moderation.
  • How do you add an alpha character in a numeric field? How would you know what the weight of the total recipe is each time you make it?
  • Hmm, that is more convenient. I could just put the total weight and serving weight in the recipe title. My concern is that the last time I tried to change the name of a recipe, MFP website wouldn't take the change, so I had to create an entirely new recipe. Reason? Sometimes the brand of ingredient changes, which changes…
