  • I echo everyone's comments about the C2 rower. I have rowed millions of meters. Have one at home. No one has spoken about the C2 SkiErg. I first used it at the local gym. Bought one for my home gym. A great cardio and maybe full body workout. Has the same monitor and online experience as the rower. I highly recommend it.…
  • Down 94.4 pounds. 5.6 to go. Had some stop and starts due to unrelated medical things. For me, slow and steady wins the race. Do not give up. Every day is a new opportunity to eat healthy.
  • All the time. Here are some things to say:"Thank you for your loving concern." or "This is what a healthy human looks like." or "I think it wouldn't do you any harm to walk away from seconds at dinner. Does your BMI put you in the morbidly obese range?" "I would be happy to assist you in getting on a healthy diet."
  • 1.6 pounds and I will be overweight.
  • Not exactly what you have but maybe something useful. I began losing weight 7 years ago. Once I lost about 50 pounds I began having to wear thick socks all the time because my feet were cold. Also had to wear cotton gloves at night, year round, as my hands were cold. No discoloration. Hands are not cold during the day.…
  • 5 minutes on the elliptical, a bunch of stretching and 30 minutes on the rower at a 1:59.6 pace (per 500 meters). 5 minute elliptical cool down. My Suunto watch says I burned 692 calories in an hour and ten minutes.
  • In many respects we are twins. I started logging on November 28, 2017. I weighed 253.2. I am 6 feet tall. I have been trying to keep at or around 2,000 calories per day. My main exercise has been stair machines and rowers. I use them intensely, so they are not totally cardio. I add weight training but have to be careful…
  • There are a number of cardio machines that would also assist in the outcomes you list. Examples: rowing machine, skierg, stair machines and elliptical machines. My gym even has a seated elliptical by Octane Fitness that will do the trick.
  • Male here. Don't know that I qualify as a "Fashionista" but I am using fashion to motivate. Maybe 5 years ago, I purchased some 42 waist pants. Lost motivation so they have been collecting dust. Started counting calories a few months ago and have lost significant weight. All 10 or so pair of 42 waist pants fit. Threw away…
  • I log everything and have found it critical to losing weight. I believe that when one is new to this, some need a simple rule of thumb or program they can follow until they learn more. For me, it was Nutrisystem. I was working and had no time. Nutrisystem made it simple to lose weight. Was it cheap? No. Was it perfect? No.…
  • OP asked for an easy way to lose weight. Yes, I agree that sustained calorie deficit is the only way. I never said Keto, Paleo or Atkins were the only way. In fact, I don't use them. I was just responding to those who said that a low carb diet would not work, as those 3 are low carb. Notice, in my original comment, I said…
  • I was trying to give a simple rule that many have had success with. I guess I failed due to the negative comments. What is wrong with carbs is that we ingest too many. The white rule is a quick and easy way to identify and therefore keep out of one's diet. OP had requested a plan that was "easy" to follow. Many of the…
  • The problem with "premade" is the amount of preservatives and flavor enhancements. Yes, it is possible that the premade have no extra ingredients, but for the most part you are going to have tons of sodium like product added. Also, added sugar, fructose, whatever you want to call it.
  • My cardio meets or exceeds just about anyone in my age group. I believe that if your goal is to be a body builder you are going to need lots of glycogen. But if weight loss is the primary goal, not so much.
  • Yup. I gave an over-simplification of Keto diet, Paleo and/or Atkins. There are exceptions to the "no white" rule, but it is a rule of thumb. Exceptions are onions, cauliflower, etc. I have been mostly keeping my carbs at 250g per day, but there are those who have great success with below 40g. Recently, I have been going…
  • If I don't keep back straight while doing this, I tend to hurt my back. Maybe you should consider doing one dumbbell at a time while perfecting form. I do one dumbbell at a time instead of barbell.
  • Some have had success with just not eating anything that has a list of ingredients on the box. Combine this with "If it's white, it ain't right." In other words, no pasta, rice, bread, potato - which are all carbs. This means eat all the fresh veggies you want. And all meats in reasonable quantities. But keep in mind that…
  • I vote for taking the break. And, you are exercising too much. If 1,530 is BMR, you don't need to have a total of more than 2,000 per day. The math would say 470 calories from exercising. That is more than enough. I took a break and now I am back with a vengeance losing weight. I also changed the diet around. Before, I was…
  • 60 here! Lost 87. If (when) I lose another 13 pounds, I will weigh 217.
  • 60 so I got my 5% off today at HT.
  • IMHO your workout will give you a great sculpted body and If it motivates you to keep working out, it is the perfect plan. However, at 60 years old, I tend to injure myself when I do too much strength training. At my age, I need/want more cardio and want more leg days. I have about 75% of my routine cardio and leg. Very…
  • OK. OK. Had to look up NSV but now I am on board. Five years ago, I bought a bunch of pants in anticipation of weight loss that did not occur. With my recent MFP push I have lost 23 pounds and..... they all fit. In fact the pleated Khakis I wore today look real good, but...are a little loose.

  • I fix it at the store. I don't buy anything with sugar, fructose, etc. No fruits. I do not buy cereal bars. I have switched away from cow's milk. I am a CHOCOHOLIC. Every day, for a snack or small meal I have 1 scoop of chocolate protein powder (cheap store brand) in unsweetened almond milk. About 210 calories - 60 for the…
  • Will power my friend. At most times in my life, my own health has not been a priority. Hence, I got up to 317. Began making my health my priority. Slowly, began reading, learning, finding healthy foods I liked. Began exercising. Lost 65 pounds and stayed at that level for a few years. After Thanksgiving 2017, I weighed…
