Holy moly! I checked out the Garmin and gotta pass on that price. I don't do enough activities to warrant spending that much, but it is nice. I think I'll see if I can get someone to remove the cover on my Polar connector, if I can't find help on the Polar site;) Edit: Hallaleuia!! I used a little more ingenuity (a hammer…

That's a great site Jg, thank you! It shows what is in Season. I haven't figured out the whole site yet, and haven't found where the prices are. I'll go back now and look around more;) ty again!

Thanks Janet, the first 2 especially, jumped out at me;) I will do those for sure. I do love lentil soup, and not familiar with dhal, but can google it. I cook all my food except on occasion, I will open a can of peaches or other fruit, rinse it well in a cauldron at least. I need to learn what things I eat are in season…

I wanted to mention that today I danced here at home, and worked hard at it. Did a lot of squats, lunge-type, worked as hard as I could for 30 minutes. I never work that hard walking, but walking 30 minutes give me almost 200 calories burned. So I just put what MFP gave me which was about 150. I feel I probably burned more…

That makes me want to have a Garmin, which I haven't a clue but I can google it:) It isn't so much I want to perfect, as I love gadgets, and all they can do. Thank you for all the info, I appreciate it, Denise I never liked wearing the Polar "strap" that holds the connector right over my heart. I think it was an excellent…

Thank you and sorry I didn't have my "notifications" figured out until today. So I just found I had replies here. Ok, yes I know how to use the Polar, I used it from 2012, but I let a friend use it, and they messed with the back of the "connector". Now it works like a watch, allows me to put in all the settings, and works…

Ok, yes, I'm just using the MFP exercise calculations for now:) ty much, Denise

I hadn't seen the posts about the body-weight when I posted, but so neat to see how many people do them now:) or recommend them as an option;) I can't do "pushups" yet, but I do what I call pushoffs, using the wall, and then when my strength is built, I will move down to a table, and eventually, the floor;) Plus I can't…

You are so right Gamer, I do about 15 to 30 minutes of just body-weight stuff, and seeing/feeling lots of change already;)

I'm a believer in doing weight-training. The more I work with weight, the better "shape" my body takes. If your not doing any weights yet, I suggest that. Right now I do body-weight training only (pushups, lunges, squats) but may go back to the gym eventually. There I can use the machines and/or free-weights. On my profile…

How close are they, do you know if they are the 5% mentioned in the other reply to me? Ty for the reply, I wish mine worked because it would be nice to know where I'm at during my workouts;)

Calories in Calories Out, do I have that right? I hadn't even heard of it as CICO until today. But I think that is what it means. I'd like to see where anyone ever "denied" that it is about calories in calories out first of all. And then, I would just add, if whoever posted "why do people deny" CICO would have had a pretty…

I like the commercial they have on cable now where a gal says "if you see immediate results, you know you are on the right track". My thought was "for sure, if you've just had liposuction, you'd see immediate" results. People are still buying that stuff or they wouldn't be able to afford the commercials to sell more of…

Because simply CICO is not enough for me. I need to know what those calories are, what types of calories I need to achieve my goals. I don't deny it is about CICO, never have. I just take it a lot further.

First thing I started doing on MFP is set my calorie goals and start logging everything I eat in my diary. I also started logging any exercises I did. Mine was just walks in the beginning. The first time I logged my foods for the day, I was eating 3000 calories. Way over my "maintenance" amount which was a bit over half…

LMBO!!

Can't agree more, LOL!!

I agree it has to do with CICO, but for me, it's also about which nutrients my bod needs, so I work my macros in. You like the way you eat, it works for you. I totally "grasp" what you do, it's just not for me.
-
I'm pretty, small framed and I like to use this to calculate my calorie goals, and set my macros. I set them for 40, 30, 30 but others will have feedback at what they do. This works for me, but I'm also 65, so not sure how much different your's may be. https://damnripped.com/tdee-calculator/ I fluctuate from needing more…

I just can't test it now that the Polar is broke. I have to go with MFP, or some other online calc. but I figure MFP is fine;) I'm trying to activate my brain to figure this out, take 100 calories and minus 5% and see, or add 5% ;) right?? LOL!! Oh geez, been too long away from math class;) just 5 calorie diff:) Got it, ty…

Well, if we did get trolled, there is a heck of a lot of good information on here that maybe others, that are truly in need, but afraid to ask, could read.

You found the corned beef in an ad sgt? And the rest as well? I have a coupon app for Safeway, and checked our local paper (coupon ads). I need to go back and read your posts here again. I'm just too tired tonight, thanks for sharing what you are finding though;) so appreciate it;) I imagine it will just take practice for…

I agree on the fats, they are essentials in my diet. I shoot for the polys, but not perfect at it;)

Mines open, and glad to have new friends that keep theirs open as well. I want to be accountable, and if my diary helps someone else, all the better;)

Walking is my main form of cardio. I only walk 2 miles lately, but it's working none-the-less. I do longer periods of body-weight exercise, but it's not a lot right now. I'm still losing inches and lbs (1 inch is all, 2 lbs so far). But if I weren't doing something right, I wouldn't have lost the weight, and felt so…
