I'd be very pleased if I am able to switch to maintenance around the end of May combined with moving into some sort of strength training programme. That would mean losing about 2.5 kgs in May.

Fruit (dried as well, maybe?); rice/wasa crackers; nut spread, boiled eggs; fill several sestema screwtop jars with a few servings of oats and nuts/raisins/cranberries soaked in rice milk (truly delicious combination). Lots of water.

Thanks for this post - and that of others - confirming the suspicions I had all along. When I started tracking calories burnt I used both the Map my Ride app on my phone (not synced with MFP) and the option to manually enter the data in MFP (the latter always being lower), and over time it was clear something was amiss…

Yep, noted, thank you! :-)

Thank you! I will have to look up what a side squat looks like, but I understand the rest. I am aware that 'spot reduction' on its own does not really work. I would agree that focusing on form is most important in the beginning.

Great, thank you so much. I will look into both Strong Curves and especially Betina Gozo. Pleased that you are happy with the results! :-)

The salad Nicoise I will be having for dinner in four hours' time!

Hi there, You have my sympathies. Since I refuse to deprive myself of anything, I control my (rather severe) sugar habit by eating very small amounts of it at a time. The moment I sense that I am not in control - i.e. that I keep going back for more, I cut it out completely for a week or so (or a couple of days if that's…

What’s your age, if you don’t mind my asking

Nature, coastal bike lanes, along with podcasts and my own music are what make up my gym at present. Not a gym person, but I quite like one gym in my city because it has a pool, sauna and steam room and it's located in a wonderful leafy setting. Major drawbacks are that their hours suck - open 7am - 11 pm on weekdays, and…

Dear Barry, Thank you for your response, what a relief to hear that I am just .325 kg off the mark. :-) Best, GBR

Dear Kim, thank you for taking the time to reply. You are right, the human body is a complicated - and wonderful - thing indeed. Thank you for the reminder. Also of the value of patience - not my strong point. Take care, GRB

Hi Meghan, thank you for your reply. I hear you, but for me 7kgs is rather a lot to lose. The last time I hit 67 on the scales was for a brief period in high school, exactly thirty years ago! In my twenties and early thirties I maintained a weight of 60-63kgs, which in my mid-thirties dropped to 59-60 kgs. I maintained…

@Meghaneebk, thanks for your reply. I'm aware of the dangers of consuming too few calories, which in part is why I am posting. The thing is, according to Cronometer, if I want to lose 1kg per week, which I thought is not an unreasonable goal, I should consume only 670 cals per day. Obviously that's not on the cards. That's…

@Travistocktoad I want to get back to my normal weight which used to range between 59 - 60 kgs. I don't care for BMI to be honest - it's an indictor, sure, but I've never 'worked' with it till now. I just want to feel comfortable in my skin again.

@lizardQueen, start weight is 67.5 kg as indicated above. The calorie burn is calculated on the basis of mapmyride averages: I cycle for exercise at the moment.
