I get approx. 400 miles out of mine before they get replaced. I have never, ever have considered washing them.

I've been fitted / analyzed by my running store and have tried various brands/models they say are the best fit for my gait, etc.. The ones I find I'm most successful with are Saucony Hurricanes. Not opposed to other brands or models, I just keep coming back to these.

Easy... My daughter lives a healthy, happy life that's abundant of fulfilled dreams and experiences...

If logging is something you find helpful to sustain your goals.. log away! People have lost weight and maintained it long before MFP or the web, etc... came into existence. If it's a tool you find helpful - use it. Just be cautious in believing someone can not be successful long term by not.

Awesome.. Just about 3 decades for us as well!

Neither one of us would have flinched/second guessed... We like to toss the "50/50" thing and say it's 100/100. Waters start getting rough when either one gives less than 100%.. just our view...

These days 100% of my stress is work related from putting in 50-60+ hours per/week. Other than long vacations with my wife and daughter, my releases are: exercise, practicing my musical instruments, reading a book or sitting listening to music with a cold beer. On rare occasion, I also enjoy sitting alone at Starbucks…
-
Yes.. it is completely possible... Once you've learned what works for you, it can become a personal choice to either log or not. 3+ successful years and counting for myself of not logging food.

Is it harder after 50? I wouldn't say that necessarily, but I would say it is extremely different than being in our 20's, 30's and 40's. Also - I think it depends on the physical condition at the starting line. Previous injuries, medical conditions, etc... that need to be kept in mind. I began my 'fitness' routine at 48..…

Not much else I can add other than to toss in another vote for the C2. I don't row as much as some but perhaps more than others (hitting 5 million meters soon). Simple maintenance and the thing will last a LONG time. Built like a tank.

I only did once when a user insisted she burned 3000+ calories on a 45 minute walk. She gave me hell and then deleted me. That was the only time... No one will recognize something isn't working more than the individual themselves over time.
-
This pretty much sums it up for me as well.... Having been in maintenance for a few years, I no longer shoot for a scale number - I shoot for an overall feeling of well being.
-
Lol.. This x100! I don't think I've ever been hit on.... not even when I was single.

Super demanding desk job (about 60 hours per week)... Before and after work is the time I get my exercise in. For weight-loss, it's all about calories and logging. You don't need to exercise to lose weight, but the calories burned can help to create more food intake (assuming logging is accurate).

I am in no position to judge or make claims that "the average person doesn't know what healthy is"... The definition of what is healthy can be defined differently by person depending on medical conditions (or not), lifestyle choices / beliefs and perspective. I am certainly NOT as healthy as an endurance athlete and…

I enjoy an active group...

Great post and congrats! Yes - agreed - successful moderation is completely / totally possible for those that choose to take that path.. I am one of them as well. For those who have a true addition problem with it are another story altogether. Those (hopefully) are in the Sober Squad and are taking those necessary next…

7 days AF and not a craving or a care (for now)..

Nice to see this thread is back to supporting and not completely demonizing alcohol. As of 3 days ago I'm done with OctoberFest(ing). At this point, I'm aiming for being AF until the end of the year - if not longer.

Explaining to people once the weight is gone that you are still 'watching' calorie intake. It's the benefit (or curse) of the learning process from logging. eta.. And explaining... yes I still workout and do it because I enjoy it.

Assuming you've been given clearance, I would recommend finding a teacher in Vinayasa yoga (already suggested) and finding a local Pilates teacher (perhaps classically trained on mat and aparatus). These can greatly assist with flexibility, mobility, agility, etc at a very safe level assuming done correctly. As with any…

Congrats and let your "new norm" begin. For me what worked was to still log and increase calories about 100 at a time to ensure "accuracy". Once I found what works for me I put my mind at ease of gaining too much once I switched to maintenance. My brain was so used to being in loss mode that the adjustment was a little…

Love this post SO much. Those that are unable to drink responsibly should not. The comment: "no amount of alcohol is good for you" can be placed in almost any context depending on personal situations and beliefs. Wonder how much chocolate cake / ice cream / McDonalds / red meat / chicken / wheat products / soday / sugar /…

Much like weightlifting, not much. Jumpboard helps to increase the calorie burn, but still, not enormous. Like weightlifting - the benefits / payback from Pilates can be enormous though. Again, I wouldn't look at it from a huge calorie burn perspective, but the benefits are great. Similar topic:…

In my opinion motivation is one part of it, but not the only. If you lack determination, desire to succeed, resiliency and no focus, you are setting yourself up for potential failure. We all have good and bad days. Good and bad weeks. If you have a plan (meaning logging honestly and accurately) - can be honest with…

I have always had great luck with Belega and Smartwool.

Awful perspective she had... Anyone who has put in the time should have learned what it takes (effort and time) to make it happen. Even more so, how diligent you need to be to keep the gains made. Keep trap shut and offer support when asked. Otherwise - say nothing. Karma is a *kitten*.

Glad you enjoyed your trip and those beers! I am eagerly awaiting the Oktoberfest batches myself. I actually said this in my post earlier up-thread. I bowed out Feb/March as the tone was becoming too "preachish" and more like an AA thread. Thought I'd test the waters this month to see it's only continued further down that…

AF since 7/29, which means I had zero on my b-day as well. I consider myself a successful moderator but am aiming for AF for August and most of September. At the moment, I'm sick of the taste of any alcohol. Restoring my taste-buds for the upcoming Oktoberfest brews. Question for the hard liquor connoisseurs.. How long do…
