That "240 pounds down" feeling!

I will tell you from experience, being too aggressive in your goals initially on "Day 1" will scare you away from the journey. Too aggressive meaning: 1. I will put myself in a 1000+ calorie deficit, day 1 2. I will exercise 60 minutes a day, day 1 I've lost 240 pounds over the course of 2 years. I've just recently hit…

Fortunately, I was able to cut back on alcohol consumption during my weight loss journey. I'm not a casual drinker (again fortunately). Mainly a social drinker whose consumption mainly came on a day or two on the weekend. I didn't completely phase it out however. If I knew I'd be drinking, I did everything humanly possible…

It's been mentioned, but how long have you been on this journey? If you're relatively new (0-2) months, then being too aggressive with caloric and exercise goals may be to blame here. If you've been on the journey any longer, what about your eating options is driving you crazy?
-
I've always been weary of eating back the exercise calories in any capacity. Normally, I wouldn't, but if I did, it wouldn't be a huge number (10-20%).

My most recent NSV was the fact that I now fit into a size Large shirt. A comfortable fit! A year ago, I was pushing 5XL. Today, a Large. I shake my head in disbelief writing this, but I'm glad I got to this point.

I had gone to a sporting event back in November 2017. Though the walk from the parking lot to the stadium was just a couple blocks away, it took the wind out of me. I was in constant pain the moment I had to walk or stand for a period of time longer than 5 minutes. It was embarrassing. Here I am now, March 2019, sitting…

Hi there! I'm on a very similar journey. My goal is to lose 235 lbs. I'm more than halfway to go that goal as of this week, having lost 138 pounds. I'd love to send you a friend request. And to everyone else here on the thread as well! Always looking for active MFPers :) let's do this

I'm fortunate enough to maintain 1% bodyweight loss per week for quite some time. I've lost 115 lbs since the beginning of the year and completely content with this rate! Slower rates of loss are completely fine - don't let it discourage you.

Gym is the only true supplement to weight loss. Though not required, it definitely helps with weight loss and overall health, provided your diet is in check. Remember - weight loss starts in the kitchen. I go to the gym almost daily. I do it to improve my cardiovascular health and overall strength - things that I…

I quit drinking soda quite abruptly, or "cold turkey". At the time I was miserable due to the fact that I couldn't bare to stand for extended periods of time without feeling pain. Quitting soda was the first straw, before I even got involved in a better diet or exercise. Been 10 months since that last sip of soda. No…

Thank you all for your input. definitely some good points of view in this thread that I have some sort of perspective into now

Hi there! I'm also on a similar weight loss journey. I'm looking to lose 200-220 pounds. Currently, I'm down 74 pounds in 4 months. Like you said, itll be a long journey, but set yourself up with smaller milestones (first 15, 20 pounds lose, etc.) It's good to see that you're starting on your diet first instead of jumping…

Once a week, or twice at most. One thing I'd like to start doing as well every 3-4 weeks is take measurements of things like waist, arms, etc.

Welcome!
