I have it set to sedentary, that’s what it was when I started MFP. I could probably move it to lightly active now, but I’m not going to. I just make sure to eat my exercise calories back. I have MFP set to lose at 0.5 lbs/week but I’m actually losing on average 0.75-1 lbs/week.

OP, I was in your shoes. Married a large man and started eating the same portion sizes he did. I to blamed him for sabotage, but then I took a hard look at myself and realized that he didn’t force the food down my throat. I did that all on my own. Once I took ownership things got better. As stated above I started…

Apple Watch and MFP don’t play nice with each other. What I do is if I’m going for an intentional walk or walking my dog I make sure to turn on my “Workout-Outdoor Walk” on my watch. If you have your health app synced with MFP you will get credit. If I don’t do an intentional workout I don’t input anything for my activity…

Yes to what everyone has said about weighing your food and stop with the cheat meals. I had my gall bladder removed 19 years ago, didn’t gain weight because of it, I gained weight because I ate to much. In the past year I have lost close to 60 lbs, not having a gall bladder hasn’t been an issue for me.

I’ve always said it might be easier to just “grow” into my weight!!

What I have accomplished in the past 12 months of “just” walking and keeping to my calories. 1. Lost 55 lbs (10 more to go) 2. Off reflux meds 3. Off all meds for type 2 (last A1C check was 5.0) 4. Resting heart rate went from 85 to 60 bpm 5. Improved mood 6. Less stress and anxiety 7. I can do a 4 mph pace for 60 min with…

Thanks for this picture. I needed it this morning I have lost 50 lbs in the past 11 months. I wear a size 6 down from a tight 14. Need to lose another 6 lbs to be a healthy BMI. I have been contemplating about stopping here and not to lose the last 10 lbs that I had planned on. Found a pair of jeans on the clearance rack,…

This is why I gained weight

Be careful with this statement. I said the exact same thing on a different tread and got woo’ed and trashed several times.

The sand was shifting while you were walking, it’s not a stable base. You likely twisted your back without realizing it until later.

That your smaller clothes don’t fall off the hangers like your larger clothes did and that those smaller clothes take up less closet space!

This is the type of scale I use at home! It’s in my closet, I don’t trust those electronic ones, I prefer good old physics! Anyway just moving the bottom weight to just 100 and not 150 is not petty, when it happened for me I danced around the house for a good half hour!

Panda Express is one of my goto favorites! Grilled teriyaki chicken (no sauce) and the super veggies, 2 packets of soy sauce and a fortune cookie comes in at about 400 calories!

Hi Betty! Yes there is a learning curve that will take time, once you get the hang of it most people spend 5-10 minutes logging their food per day. If you have a smart phone I would suggest you download the app. I find it much more convenient for logging than having to wait to get to a computer. Why are you waiting until…

My kids always put on weight right before a growth spurt. About the time I thought they were getting a little pudgy they would shoot up an inch or two and the pudge would be gone. The body knows what’s going on. As long as your daughter has activity everyday and eats a relatively balanced diet she will be fine.

Eat the pizza, but instead of 6 slices eat 2, eat the sub, make it turkey with lots of veggies. I have not given up any foods including pizza and subs, just eat smaller portions that fit my calories.

Kinda in the same situation. My sister, brother, and SIL are all trying to lose weight through various methods (WW, Optiva, Slim for Life) all of which cost $$$. I’m just using MFP to help me with CICO. When we are all together all they want to do is talk about how wonderful their program is. I tried one time to talk about…

I lost my first 30 lbs by calorie counting alone. I then added walking, as I HATE the gym. Nothing fast or intense and I just walked around the neighborhood. I’m now approaching 50 lbs gone and the speed and duration of my walks has naturally increased. I hope by this summer I will be down to goal. I still HATE gym type…

Same here, me and hubs are both MFPers. I also do all the cooking. I just tell him how many calories are in each portion and he creates a meal showing those calories.
