Agree - there is no point in adding friends any more because there is no easy way to interact, see their activity, cheer them on or share what you've been up to. There is no longer any reason to choose MFP over any other calorie tracker now. You can hear the tumbleweed rolling through MFP.

Can't add you as a friend because your profile is set to private - if you change it I'd be happy to add you. Cheers Steve

Tell us a little more about what "eating good" looks like - you'll be able to get some more specific advice then.

I quit drinking alcohol after eating and drinking myself into a gout attack. It wasn't easy, as home brewing craft beer was my main hobby at that time and I had to get rid of all my gear and have a rethink. For a couple of years I'd get the occasional craving where I really fancied and ice cold brew on a hot day etc but…

I don't think there's anything wrong with your device - I have exactly the same trouble even after clearing cookies etc. I get email notifications of friends comments on my wall but I can't see them or respond. It's been like this for a while - very frustrating.

The secret is.... that there is no secret. Just good old fashioned dedication and willpower.

I'm curious... what was the "object" they took out?

Hi Lisa - strangely I find that fat free natural greek yoghurt takes my sugar craving away. Dried fruit can also be useful, although not too much because it does contain 40-50% sugar... however it's not refined and does come with other micronutrients from the fruit. There's no substitute for willpower though and it does…

You can do this - begin with small steps and over time you'll be amazed at what you can do.

Great job - I find it's a simple thing to do that stops me falling off the wagon as well as being really practical. It's not for everyone but I only eat things I enjoy... so eating them repetitively doesn't worry me.

Do you have any equipment or will it all need to be bodyweight?

So we're all popping round to your place for a lifting session and post workout meal then 😜

I think it's all horses for courses and depends on a lot of factors. The main issue that newbies can have with 5x5 is that the weight progression happens pretty fast depending on where you set your starting weights for each movement - if you are a "mature" lifter with some pre-existing creaky joints that can become tough…

The simplest thing to do, is to work out how many servings a recipe will make - then work to the macros based on that rather than exact individual portion weights. Don't get too hung up on the most minute of details - it pays to remember that nutritional values given for foods are averages not absolutes, so no matter how…

Yes, I did it after my first gout flare up as a way of identifying foods that triggered my attacks. It was a long and tedious process due to the slow reintroduction process and occasional setback when I identified a trigger... but I only had to think about the pain of a proper flare up which it was enough to keep me on the…

Yes, cutting hard can affect your test levels - but there's a lot of other factors at play too from things like how much sleep you get, vit d3, zinc and so on. Also, if you have cut fats too far back in your diet, your body will not have the raw materials to make test from.

I find it easiest to work with raw weights as water loss from cooking is very variable depending on how long you cook etc. When you select your raw chicken breast you can choose which units to work with. You can adjust the amount when you log it to match what you have eaten. So for example you might choose raw chicken…

South West England here - just about to move from 2 into 3. Cheers Steve

To be honest at 140 and 5'11 you've got plenty of headroom... what's probably more important is the rate of gain. If you go at it too fast you will gain mostly fat which will have to come off later. Aim for about 1kg per month and you should be good.

Your knees must love you :) Great job!

BMI is a crude yardstick and doesn't distinguish between the weight of muscle and fat... so yes you can have a "normal" BMI but have low muscle levels and high(er) fat %. Equally, you can have very low body fat levels and high muscle levels and come out as overweight on the BMI scale.

I'm using a lot of my home made version of Emeril's Essence - mixed with lean pork mince it makes a mean sausage patty.

ISTP-T checking in here. I'll be over in the corner if anyone wants me...

Actually, the first comments people started making to me were about how "healthy" I looked - weight loss comments followed a while after that. It was as if they could see something about me was changing but weren't sure quite what it was at first.
-
Well done you - it doesn't matter how much you have to go because you have proven that you can do it... and over time you will get to where you want to be. That's such a mean spirited comment for someone to have made - my guess is they are uncomfortable with some aspect of your positive changes.
-
Aaahhh makes sense (slaps forehead!) thank you. I'm sure you'll crush your goal in no time :)

I know I'm going to sound dim here (nothing unusual there I hear you say)... but what is onederland?

The most patronising comment for me was when someone simply said "That's enough now."

I would honestly not have believed that the pictures were the same person. You've done an amazing job and have every right to feel proud.
