This is a platitude that is rarely challenged. Why, I do not know. Most of the healthy populations of the World do exactly ZERO exercise. And, these are not populations of farmers and hunter/gatherers. They are civilized societies of persons who get enough exercise to keep limber and mobile by their every day activities of…

Exercise to support eating is a very unhealthy mindset.

Exercise to support eating. Doesn't seem that healthy to me.

There is a big difference in croutons. No one would ever buy a bag of the kind of croutons one would get in a nice French restaurant. I've seen a pound of butter disappear on a griddle into only enough croutons to make six Caesar salads. Translate 500 calories per salad.

After unless it all goes in a dish like beef stew.

Essentially, the colonoscopy prep. Pretty disgusting sitting on the can for 8 hours and flooding the GI tract alternately with prep solution and H2O. But, one is pretty much flushed out at the end of it if you have seen the video from your colonoscopy. Why do it I would not know. But following the prep instructions is…

I thought we were talking about meat substitutes. But, what the heck! My favorite salad in Summer is crumbled up Tostidos with a layer of thin sliced tomatoes, then a layer of thin sliced Vidalia onion, then Basil, then smoked salmon chunks, than Balsamic vinegar and only the slightest drizzle of chili pepper infused olive…

My hat is off to anyone who can stomach this stuff. I tried it, tossed it and didn't look back. Real noodles are soooo much better.

Learn a little more about the myth of dietary cholesterol before wasting a lot of time making your numbers look good. Hint: there is no proven causal link between dietary cholesterol and arterial plaque.
-
Weigh the whole serving before dinner, weigh the bones after, subtract, multiply by the calories per gram.
-
Cooked meat I trust?

Senior dogs need a specialized diet your mother probably knows nothing about. Believe it or not, the folks who make premium dog food like Wellness Core and Orijen actually like dogs and know something about this topic. Not tossing some sweet potatoes and bacteria soaked liver in his bowl. And, without preservatives it can…

Get the dog some proper food. Geez!

Since only about 20% of calorie burn is the consequence of all movement and exercise, and movement is pretty stable for each person and exercise is a few minutes per day, the numbers start getting really small and the article, really silly. People get up, make breakfast, go to work, visit the loo, make the dinner and the…

Shrimp Cocktail (try 10 Jumbo Shrimp). A whole more protein per calorie than beef or pork. Lightly sauteed in a few Tbs of water and Old Bay or Better than Bouillon Lobster Base then cooled in the frig.

I don't know if this reflects only the desire for eyeballs with clickbait or a manifestation of the power of denial or both. But, keeping the bag of water at 98.6 degrees and replacing about 96 million cells per minute is about all that is necessary to make dietary driven CICO the rule for measuring weigh loss. Persons who…

This is really bad advice to persons who are just starting on this journey. (No scale, cups and spoons) But, good for you. You're just all aces.
-
On your scale. But many people have a scale that does not weigh negative values.

Oil is the same problem. At 9 calories per gram, the difference in sighting a tablespoon can easily be 50 calories. I weigh the bottle before I pour and after and subtract.

The "scientific" claims of dietary cholesterol erode a little bit each year. Back in the day. the American Heart Association falsely claimed a direct cause between arterial plaque and dietary cholesterol from certain saturated fats. Although the direct cause claim has been abandoned, the AHA has clutched to "linked" to or…

Well, its not very photogenic, but it sure was good. Left over smoked baby back rib meat, avocado and home made hot salsa.

I usually use a 70 cal low carb flour tortilla. Scorch it on both sides on the gas burner. Changes the whole taste. Then, for me, its Spam Lite 2 oz, or BBQ pulled chicken, 2 oz avocado and Jalapeno salsa. That will be lunch today.
-
I think the better question is avocado or salsa. Your protein is not the variable. You might ask, beef or pork, shrimp or fried cod (I really don't like Talapia in a taco).

First you have to know if it is generic hamburger (which can be up to 30% fat, 90/10 or 80/20. then if you are not drinking the fat after cooking, you need to find calories per gram, cooked (grilled) and weigh it cooked. Sorry, its the only way. Raw burger comes out vastlly different depending on how well done you like the…

Every method that works is a good method. But, every method that works is a reduction in calories below consumption and discharge. Except for a diet of that special candy brought by the Easter Bunny.

Washing produce will remove some amount of water soluble pesticides on the surfaces. Nothing as to systemic pesticides and nothing useful as to bacteria. Probably fans of organic will not want to hear this but the washing actually removes antibacterial agents found on some produce. So it will actually increase bacteria…

Patricia, you would do well to listen for a bit before you stumble into the ditch again. We lose weight when we take in less calories than we consume and discharge. When a person is not losing weight, it is not due to some mysterious force as you suggest above. Urging the OP to stop spinning his wheels and abandon his plan…

Autonomic adjustment to metabolism has next to nothing to do with anything. The science of the thing is that keeping a 175 pound, poorly insulated, bag of mostly water at 98.6 degrees 24/7 is what takes calories. If Summer has come and the ambient temperature is now 90 F out, it is not metabolism, but it is autonomic and…

^^^ Those look pretty good.
