  • I bought those 72" bath sheets. Now, they go around almost two times.
  • Sure. No intention to hurt your feelings on my part, but there really is no other way than calorie deficit. Just different ways of getting there. I think fasting can work . . . as long as the fasting results in a calorie deficit. Its the science. Implying that you can not eat for a while and then eat with an average net…
  • You call it a plateau, I call it no calorie deficit. Either way, you have to re-calibrate and start over.
  • Don't bother. Fasting doesn't do anything but help reduce the time when you are snacking. Seriously, none of that stuff about when you eat or what you eat when or how your meals are spread out has any significant effect on weight loss.
  • You know what the problem is, right? You are not in a calorie deficit. If that is by choice, ok. But if not, go back to basics and start counting correctly.
  • Constipation is a common consequence of surgery. Expect it and plan accordingly.
  • Double espresso on ice.
  • Oh, that is too easy:
  • If you believe me that weight fluctuates 4-6 pounds having nothing to do with weight loss but everything to do with the amount of water retained and contents of the digestive tract, you will weigh every day and ignore the daily variations and look only at the trends.
  • I'm an old man so you can ignore my experience as inapplicable, but I can tell you that I lost 72 lb and I don't think I lost an inch off my thigh diameter. I think the fat was elsewhere and that was the reason. But, who knows.
  • You didn't notice that I said "each search term." So if some Nigerian is searching for kokoro only the lowest 10% of results for kokoro are removed. Please read my posts more carefully. I usually say what I mean.
  • You body weight is the best instrument for counting your calories. After 5 weeks, if you are not losing any weight you are not in a calorie deficit. You have counted wrong in your daily diary or your daily calorie goal is incorrect. Accept the fact and see which mistake is the problem.
  • All they need to do is automatically cull the lowest 10% of the results of each search term every month based on usage by us into our diaries and the bad results (the least used by us) would drop out of the database. They just don't care that the database is garbage.
  • It depends on what you do for work and how bad the toe is. I've seen them where you couldn't put a shoe on.
  • What most people refer to as junk food is not just Twinkies and Hohos. It is cheeseburgers and fries, chicken nuggets and Egg Muffins. Foods often actually more healthy than some of the concoctions you will see here. Within reasonable parameters you can eat anything you want and lose weight based on a calorie deficit. and,…
  • I certainly did not say that you got injured each year, but I assume you do not dispute the statistics? If you said it was on average one injury per year or one injury every two years, I would disagree but it would still be too many.
  • On average, a casual three times per week jogger has two injuries per year. An injury is defined as missed work or medical treatment. they range from stubbed toes to killed in traffic. That makes jogging about 1000 times more dangerous than working in a sheet metal factory where a million injury free work hours is the…
  • You're a carpenter. you don't need any exercise. you can only hurt yourself or get repetitive motion injuries. Meet the ladies at church instead.
  • Salt is your electrolyte. Low sodium has become an industry too big to fail. The American Heart Assn got it wrong 50 years ago and scientists have been futility trying to prove them right since. If you actually retain too much water (your shoes won't go on, your calfs stay indented when you squeeze them, can't put your…
  • I have 200 calories every day from 4 to 6. Usually 100 cal popcorn and 100 calories fruit. Nothing after dinner till breakfast.
  • Raw chicken weight is appropriate only when the chicken is incorporated into a dish where all of it is eaten. Like stewed chicken. Unless you are drinking rendered chicken fat from roasted chicken which is not the norm, the raw weight is useless. The chicken renders mostly its fat at 9 calories per gram accounting for…
  • Knowing that the US population is way up on the obesity scale and way down on physical health and longevity, see if anything pops out at you from the attached highly sourced study. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2674408/
  • Water retention and stool accumulation will create a variable in body weight that it typically 4 pounds or so. It will vary for everyone depending on a lot of factors having nothing to do with weight loss. For you it might be 2 pounds or it might be 6. When you weigh in, think of that scale weight as a point in a range of…
  • When people tell me what not to talk to them about I am always pretty sure that the forbidden topic is the problem. And, after 45 years of solving other peoples problems, I have found that I am usually right about that. It may not be productive for me to point out the obvious that others have diplomatically avoided saying,…
  • Differential metabolism (mine vs yours) means little. "I eat next to nothing and still gain weight." Sorry, you gain weight because you intake more calories than you use and eliminate. And, the use that matters most is keeping the 150 lb bag of poorly insulated mostly water at exactly 98.6 F 24/7. If you like the outdoors…
  • Do you think there is an answer other than eat less calories?
  • You could make a big mystery out of this and look for something really exotic or unique about youself or your situation. Or you could just accept that you are not logging or did not calculate correctly and adjust by eating less calories.
  • My first rule of interaction is that if you want to know what people want, what they really really want, deep down, not what they say they want, what they really want, look at what they have. What they have is what they wanted. Humans are very effective and almost always get what they want unless intervened by accident or…
  • I weigh every day. It allows me to overcome the shock of gaining 3 pounds after following the plan to the letter. Because at 3500 calories per pound, there is no way I have 10500 extra calories in one day. So it became obvious to me that it was fluctuation due to intestinal tract contents and water retention. Hence, no…
