When I make salmon at home I can guess the weight raw or cooked within 7 grams, confirmed by weight. After 100 or so portions, you get good at it. I still weigh everything.

Always weigh pasta and grains dry.

The meat will be 3-4 calories per gram. A baguette the size of a half sandwich has 150 calories more or less. You shouldn't want the sauce unless the meat is awful. And, finally, a dip in broth has so few calories it doesn't matter. Call it 600 calories for a beef dip. Now, if you are in big corn country like DeKalb IL you…

I use those spouts that are on bar back liquor bottles because the delivery is so precise. 12 pack at Amazon for $6. Still using one from several years ago.

Stove top popper + Pam +60g Orville's Original. Lots of powdered salt.

One is twice as likely to have a fatal car accident if one drives in the rain at night. So stay home and eat lots of bacon instead.

First, the WHO is a political organization Hell bent on eliminating meat as a primary protein source. They said so. Second, the secret words are "epidemiological studies." Those are statistical studies done by mathematicians. Not scientists.

Nitrates and nitrites are just another example of food scare pseudo-science. There is not actual proof of a causal connection between nitrites and gastroenterological cancers or an understanding of any mechanism by which they supposedly cause the cancers. All there is is a weak casual relationship shown by statistical…

Microwave brings out the moisture from inside the chicken - not a good thing. Use a skillet.

Bacon is your friend. Weigh it cooked and drained unless the pan fat is to be drank (or is it drunk?). I like to make a bed of several pieces of cooked bacon and top it with a fried egg. Or, I urge a bacon and date sandwich in a scorched low calories tortilla wrap.

For conventional highly salted US crisps like Lay's Original, you can't even taste the potato after the first few chips because the salt deadens taste buds. We did an experiment in the Pringles lab decades ago and I promise you that threee or four old school chips then anything you want after that with good mouth feel will…

Re-heat chicken in a non-stick skillet with a half pat of butter (1/4 Tbsp). Toss it tocoat all sides, put a pan lid on it for long enough to heat it through and it'll taste great. You have only added 25 calories.

SkinnyPop mini popcorn cakes - Sea Salt. Serving is 120 calories which is about 20 cakes. Just salty enough.

Cooked rice could have a water content of 50% to 75%. No way to tell. You can't measure it unless you have lab skills and equipment. Long grain rice has 3.5 calories per gram dry. Slice it dice it, cook it in a coffee pot it still has 3.5 calories per gram. If you weigh it dry you will know exactly how many calories it…

Caramel Sea Salt is the best one. I think Breyers fat free (or is it no sugar added? The one with 110 calories per serving which is, I recall 3/4 cup) is a lot better with a marginal difference in calories unless you are eating 4 servings or so.

I said: Menstruation has been shown to be the major cause of anemia and iron deficiency in nulliparous women. A prophylactic dose of iron and folate supplements may be indicated for menstruating females to cushion the adverse effects of menstruation on hematologic status.…

Consult, but know that most every woman pre menopause needs an iron supplement.

Oh, you are right on target, IMO. Tail on frozen raw shrimp at about $10-11/lb are one of the best buys of real food in protein/$. Also, get some Better Than Bouillon Lobster Base and any fish dish that needs a sauce can be made with the addition of the Lobster Base.

I just couldn't do it. I tried but they were just too awful. I decided that a couple of single ingredients like a baked potato and a salmon filet were far more satisfying.

If your orthopedic surgeon won't answer this, search for information by adding the term "grand rounds" to your Google search string. And only read the in-house training for doctors that is in your search results. Its pretty reckless to ask something this important from random forum strangers.

I think I should just stay out of Keto and Macro discussions. I don't really know much about them. I have really healthy meals, just not so much of them. I get that it doesn't work that way of everyone. Do what you have to do for good nutrition and achieving your goals. I'll do me.

A common sense balanced diet is what matters. Not trying to micro manage diet with supplements and restricted items. In my opinion, of course. I read these food plans from people who are eating greek yogurt and protein supplements for breakfast and all kinds of goofy stuff. Have some eggs or cereal for breakfast, a hearty…

Macros are a big waste of time. Just use a little common sense. Unless you are in the throes of an auto immune disease or migrated from the Third World, add a multi vitamin to your daily regimen and eat what you want. It won't matter as long as you maintain the calorie deficit. Everything else is probably superstition.…

How could anyone help not knowing your total daily calorie goal?

12 pounds is a 42000 calorie deficit. 21 days, 42000 calories. You do the math. If your deficit is 2000 calories per day its too much. But, probably half of it is water and elimination.

I like shrimp for protein. 24% protein by cooked weight.
