You now have the benefit of all the psychological underpinnings of compulsive, or at least uncontrolled eating. The trouble is that you can't fix your brain with your brain. Its been tried. Doesn't work. Ask anyone crying their eyes out after a breakup when everyone knows she is better off without him, or the fear of…

I just ignore flaky stuff like your post but now that you mention it, I should have disagreed.

I think you might like Jolly Time 100's. I have both and think the Jolly Time pops to a greater volume even though the weight is the same so the kernels are bigger. Also a little cheaper. But, Orville is good too and better in bulk kernels for the stovetop. I eat a lot of popcorn. Almost every day/

Mayonnaise is a gift to both chicken and salad greens in general. It has soybean oil as its principal calorific ingredient and a small amount of egg yolk. A tbsp has about 90 calories most all from fats. Seeds are high in calorie fat content but notoriously hard on the digestive track. Almost everyone over 50 has some…

Jolly Time 100's are the most convenient at low calories. 10 bags for $3.12. Stove top popper with Pam is the lowest calorie method not tasting like cardboard. You have to have nut (powdered) salt to really have a good result.

Bob Evan Breakfast Links, hash brown patty fried in sausage grease and Ghee, fried egg and coffee.

Why would one buy rolled oats in bulk to go into little containers? Rolled oats costs about $1 per pound in large Quaker box or 50lb bags. And, even the 50 lb bags come with a label. Are you suggesting someone would buy rolled oats from a barrel or a truck bed? Any thoughts on how many of out MFP folks here might do that?
-
And to put the label in or on the storage container.
-
Unless one get their rolled oats from a farm or a health food store, why wouldn't one simply look at the package nutrition panel?

Ask yourself: "Do people who live in North American above 43 degrees latitude feel cold all the time?" I know I would regardless of how I dressed for the weather. I pose this question because we know that many people who live in places like Toronto are not at all uncomfortable. How can that be I would ask. I'd be cold all…

I think people can lose weight by rejecting carbs. But, in the end, it is just a shortcut to eating less calories for those who can't plan balanced meals within their calorie goals. Definitely works for some people. And, probably no harm in being low on carbs. That is not really true of fats which are needed for body.

Well, just think about this from the big picture perspective: Your comments about food choices are mostly opinions and even when generally correct are debatable. You could easily be 100% correct (like my brother in law) and walk up to someone and say: "man you would do well to lose a few pounds, eh." Now would you do that?…

All pasta does not absorb the same amount of water. How its cooked and what shape it is both affect the cooked weight.
-
Both are a problem - the amount of absorbed water based on shape and the volume. Just weight the pasta dry.
-
We always talk about water absorption being the reason that cooked pasta can't be accurately logged, but that is only part of the problem. there are a lot of shapes and everyone of them will have a different weight per unit volume regardless of how they are cooked. A cup on angel hair is entirely different than a cup of…

Today, my one different breakfast day, I had 24g of cooked bacon (112 calories) and a pancake with raw honey (240 calories).
-
Raw weight is fine for grains and vegetables but does not work for foods that render fat upon heating. Fat logs in at 9 calories per gram, so even a tablespoon of chicken fat in the bottom of the pan means 100 calories.

Try microwave home made chips. With the proper potato and powdered salt they are better than the brands.

I cook for my in-laws - 20 of them. I looked back and last year I apparently had stuffing and mashed potatoes for lunch and booked 400 calories so it wasn't very much of either. Then for dinner I had 4oz turkey breast, jellied cranberry sauce from the can, Brussels sprouts, and a little gravy. Another 450 calories. I…

I really enjoy a burger. So I make then thin and do what is like a English "fry up." Put everything in the pan. Mushrooms, onions, peppers and pile them on the burger with no bun. Then I also will include in the pan some thin raw potato slices. Serve the whole thing with really good dill pickles. Easily kept under 350…

Egg yolks can be ditched in other dishes as well. Since they are mostly fat they add a calorie density that makes fitting them in a challenge. Not to worry, egg salad can be well made with four hard boiled eggs: one whole, three whites, yolks in the bin. I notice that the second difficult ingredient, mayo, is needed in a…

Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play? Many posts in the database adopt this answer. Of course, 1 oz does not equal 60g.

4 egg omelet. One whole egg, three egg whites. toss the yolks, they are no help. 120 calories and a great base for adding your other favorite ingredients.

Focus on the things you want more of. Talk about it, fantasize about it, brag about it as so many above have done. You'll get more of it. You don't have to have shame or regret but if you put it in the preset moment, it is your priority. I usually tell my divorced buddies, "let's not talk about her anymore - good bad or…

Its funny that you say that. My principal problem is guilt for how lucky I am and have been. I can't think of anything in my life I want for or would even change. I love this program and I love dieting and counting calories. From day 1 I've lost weight exactly as planned, now 72 pounds down to 170. Maintained without gain…
