  • One more comment - I do believe most of my weight gain is from becoming extremely sedentary. I was very active when my kids were young as they both had high cholesterol from age 12. They were both thin, but I had to make sure we exercised religiously so they didn't have to go on medication. Once they moved out I got…
  • How many calories a day did you do during your weight loss phase?
  • I did intermittent fasting for about a month and lost 6 pounds without trying. I was doing a 16:8 window. I actually found it to be the easiest thing I have tried. I stopped doing it because I had an illness, but I am starting back up today. I felt so much better when I was doing it, but I know it isn't for everyone. Also,…
  • I am married to a person who was a cop for almost 20 years - it is often an extremely toxic environment/career. I am happy for you that you have been able to find a new job, and I wish you the best.
  • Hi everyone! I have sent some requests out to you guys. I'm 5'1 and my weight has jumped recently. I'm seeing a dietician and while she has been pretty helpful with some advice she also doesn't believe in calorie counting. She likes the intuitive eating approach, which doesn't really work for me as far as weight loss.
  • I am also 5’1 and would love to be added. I am starting at 140.4, with an initial goal of 130. My ultimate goal is 117.
  • Current Weight 137.6 Starting Weight 138 Goal Weight 114
  • SW Feb 3: 138 Feb GW: 134 Ultimate GW: 114
  • I recently decided to do a 30 day Keto challenge. I only made it one day, and realized very quickly I cannot eat that way. I am going to just calorie count and eat the food I usually eat. I'm starting at 1400 a day to see if that is low enough to lose. MFP has me at 1200, but I believe I will still lose at 1400, just…
  • I am also starting again (the pandemic didn't help, but my weight didn't go up too much). I lost 8 pounds for my daughter's wedding, but have gained back most of it. I am just tired of feeling heavy, and I get discouraged that I have quite a bit to lose. But I am starting over today, and I got some really good food that is…
  • I am baffled that the doctor gave you a new plan to follow when you are clearly having great success with what you are already doing. I would continue to do what you have been since you find it sustainable. And I agree with the person above who advised you don't need to follow up with that clinic if it wasn't helpful.
  • Refusing disease mitigation strategies does not show bravery. It shows an appalling lack of common sense and selfishness.
  • The whole "if you're afraid" line is so silly and overused at this point. Adults calling other adults the equivalent of a chicken like we used to do as 10-year olds is embarrassing. And honestly, it's not a particularly compelling argument once you are past elementary school. Taking care not to infect others during a…
  • I am guessing the "many Australian virologists" come from an anti-vax site. This has already been debunked. https://www.aap.com.au/covid-19-vaccine-whistleblower-information-sounds-a-lot-like-an-unrelated-study-from-1989/
  • I'm in healthcare (specifically communicable disease). I raced to get the vaccine as soon as it was offered to me. The majority of healthcare workers I am in contact with in both personal and professional ways desperately want the vaccine. I have had both doses of Moderna. There is no effort that I have heard (and I spend…
  • When did you have your baby? It takes time for that pot belly to go away.
  • I have a history very similar to yours. I have done every diet on the planet. I have joined myfitness pal multiple times, had success for a few weeks only to quit. This time around I am feeling different. I have consistently been tracking for 60 days (for me that is a long time). I started at a higher calorie count, and…
  • Thanks Bebeisfit - I am going to start the weight lifting today. I think it will make a huge difference. Thanks HeidiCooksSupper - I am drinking a glass of water this morning. I will try the seltzers too. I have to whiten my teeth all the time, so it would be nice to get rid of the dark drinks.
  • I am also restarting. Began in September and I'm down 2 pounds total. My issues seem to be on weekends I was going off plan, and making excuses for excessive snacking. I am starting this time with frozen foods (lean cuisine, nutrisystem desserts), and doing that for a few weeks just to get adjusted to the portion control.…
  • I'm in too. Challenge start weight 01/02/2020 133 Goal by Valentine's Day 127
  • I have been at this for a few months, and I am finally getting the hang of it. It took my awhile to realize that by adding in some healthy food (vegetables with meals, etc) I can eat more volume and feel more satisfied. I am down 4 pounds, which isn’t what I had hoped for but is better than slowly gaining. What worked for…
  • I had one years ago, and it was a pain to clean. I loved apple juice with carrots.
  • I would love friends to help also. I just went on a multi-day Thanksgiving binge, and I am starting AGAIN. I was going to restart Tuesday, but decided today is the day instead.
  • I am sorry that you aren't getting as much support as you would like at home. I have a few things that I really have trouble controlling myself around - potato chips, Doritos. My husband has agreed to keep them out of the house. I would really consider some marital counseling if it continues to try to figure out why it is…
  • Same here. I went off plan a bit for Halloween, and really struggled the next day to go back on plan. I think it's easier for me to stay within my range.
  • I have around 15 to lose also, and I think it goes a lot slower. I just seriously restarted this week after a big vacation, and I am losing slowly. Sometimes it feels like little reward for a lot of work. I have decided even if it takes months it is still better to be trending downward. Good Luck!
  • I just went on vacation and totally fell off. I am restarting today, and I decided not to beat myself up too much for the vacation eating. No trips planned for the future, so that will make it easier.
  • I have always tried to lose by eating 1200 a day. Always failed and ended up binge eating. This time I increased mine to 1450, and I am amazed by how much easier it has been. My opinion, which isn't near as knowledgeable as many posters on here is maybe try increasing your calories and see how you do. As far as the…
  • Thanks everyone! I think the above posters are correct - I did not account for exercise at all. I will try this for a few weeks, then adjust if needed. I am finding 1450 easier to live with so far.
  • Thanks everyone! Corinasue1143 - I agree. I figured even if I lose 1 pound a month it will be better than gaining like now. I am also eating food I really like so I am not feeling deprived. I'm just bulking it up with extra veggies.
