Thanks for the support @lowcarbmale Everyone finds what works for them. Sadly some people end up thinking what works for them is best for others. I.f. works well for me ... and I'm seeing better than expected results. If people are curious about my experiences with it they are welcome to friend or message me.

I encourage others to read this great healthline article explaining why fasting does burn more fat than 5-6 meals a day, even for the same net daily caloric intake: https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/intermittent-fasting-and-weight-loss#section1 Some hormonal changes are highlighted as follows: Insulin: Insulin increases…

Notice I was saying when sugars are depleted you turn towards burning fat. Its a shift to more of one or the other... not a on or off switch.
-
I plan to be extra strict mon/tues/weds ... and Feast on thanksgiving.
-
All good points above... I.F. is a means to an end (caloric deficit) ... it works well for me personally as it fits my lifestyle.
-
Theres someone on my list just hit 1770
-
I recommend you friend some active people ... then friend who is commenting on their posts. Those are the ones you know are active for real
-
Is this newer? This Was not the case in 2015 (last time I had a fitbit)
-
What's your activity level set to? If you're eating back fitbit steps ... your activity level should be sedentary. A gym session is a totally different story.

I didn't research IF beforehand, but it's just what i naturally do. (GROSS OVER-SIMPLIFICATION WARNING my thoughts are: if you have readily available sugars; your body will use those sugars (preferential oxidation). only when the sugars are depleted does your body turn towards burning fat. So for me i like to go as far…

I am Starting November first 14.2 lbs less than Oct. 1st ... though I probably wont lose any for the next 2 week as I start lifting and working out today. I am prone to huge swells of water when I lift and I buffered October to plan for it. I will increase calories accordingly this month and start eating back 50% of my…

38 lbs is a legendary achievement ... I would assume he was being careless, or just teasing/ribbing you as men often do. I have 38 lbs to lose myself (I've lost 13) .. so I can deeply respect how you had to grind it out ... but that dude ... probably doesn't get it. I would assume it's more oblivious than malicious... I…

If you are eating back a Fitbit adjustment ... I do believe MFP should be set to BMR (sedentary) Looks like that gives you 1200+513 ... 1713 is right at what we had been estimating.
-
"Hug" wasnt enough! Swore I'd seen it! Lol
-
100% agree they should be eating 1800ish. I read: "get around 12,000 steps a day....My calorie goal as set by MFP is...etc" and read it as saying 12,000 steps a day as set by my Fitbit. Can i blame low blood sugar ? *facepalm*
-
If the fitbit is adding calorie adjustments for those steps ... doesn't it get double counted when you set activity level to active ? OP, what is the calorie adjustment on 12000 steps ?
-
Thanks Steve! You've been a wealth of resources all along this journey!

i only planned to do 10-day updates ... but i had a huge scale-woosh today and i'm finishing october down 13.8 lbs for the month !~! november starts tomorrow and phase 2 of the challenge begins ... establishing a workout routine.
-
Today is day 30. Still no alcohol ... I am down 12.0 lbs. Had some hiccups, a 3 day road trip which was almost all fast food ... and some strong hunger but I'm staying in my goals.
-
Today is day 30 AF for me. I plan to have a celebration toast this friday for making it through Sober October ... but I want to be accountable and not slip back into the 6-8 beer a day habit I had previously. I'd like to limit myself to once a week through November.

I picked up some headphones yesterday and I already love them ! You won't regret it
-
I crashed my first bike ... and it caught fire and melted in front of me. Heart breaking stuff. Total loss.
-
If i hit my goal by April first I am buying an MT07
-
My bike is a junkyard themed CL350 ... very heavily modified ... basically entirely hand built. And all by me.

You'll be fuller and lose more weight on steak than oatmeal ! : )
-
I really appreciate your positive attitude. Give it time ... find what works for you... don't give up!!!
-
Also I set a new low before dinner at 174.0 for 12 lbs lost over 29 days!
-
Tonight is a steak grilled on cherry wood, a blend of golden oak shiitakes and baby portabella's ... and roasted brussels sprouts... the cheese is a local feta. I made two huge steaks and will use the remains for lunches for the rest of the week! Meal planning win!

Additionally it's common to gain 3-5 lbs of water in a week of lifting ... before you build ANY lean muscle mass. Using muscles you haven't previously used will cause water retention in those areas.

I did NOT say to cut out carbs... I said "if all you wanted to do was move the scale down... cut out all carbs and you'll lose water weight" ...I was pointing out that the scale not moving doesnt necessarily mean you're not burning fat.
