  • I "accidentally" became plant based this past year. Meat had been turning me off for the past couple of years. For example sometimes I would smell meat cooking and it would make me extremely nauseous. I woke up one morning and decided I would not eat it anymore (think I was smelling bacon that morning which just smelled…
  • Losing weight is about eating less calories than you burn. Wine or any beverage can fit into your daily goals if you like. I've lost 60 without cutting out alcohol. But I could not fit it in daily. The worst problem for me was one glass turning into three glasses and then not caring what I ate afterwards. And as @kimny72…
  • Yeah I had gerd for years. I tried many meds and only one worked well for me. I definitely went through months of trying to find the right med. As far as trigger foods go, I find that most of us have different triggers. For example I always heard about tomatoes and tomato sauces being triggers but they never were for me.…
  • Sadly I've had little food today because of the flu. I've managed to eat one banana and two air fried hash browns with ketchup. I'm starving but everything sounds so gross - except for junk food of course. I'm gonna try to get the energy to make sesame tofu and broccoli over rice or noodles.
  • I'm confused why anyone would disagree with this post. For the record, calories are king in regards to weight loss. Regardless of the macro split, a person will not lose weight unless they are consuming less than they burn.
  • For lunch I made grilled chickpea sandwiches with a garlic-cashew spread, a quick cucumber pickle, romaine and tomato. Omg it was so very good. The chickpeas really made the sandwich hearty.
  • Check out vegan chefs on YouTube. Some of my favs are Sweet Potato Soul, Rachel Ama and Avant Garde Vegan.
  • Mine refuses to go outside when it's cold. And she refuses to wear the multitude of sweaters I've purchased for her. She just likes to lounge in bed all the time while hoping for a belly rub.
  • Yes I've sprouted many bean varieties. Very easy to do. And a lovely, delicious topping for many of my meals.
  • Good post. Can't believe I haven't seen it for weeks. I'm plant based but still eat fish about once per month. Tonight we had a Buddha bowl with fresh greens, Jasmine rice, roasted green beans, BBQ tempeh, roasted red peppers, chickpeas, cilantro, tomatoes and pepitos with peanut sauce (peanut butter, coconut cream,…
  • Rachel Ama is fantastic! I also love Avant Garde Vegan.
  • I have a pricier Ninja and I love it. Not only does it make smoothies well but it grinds things like coffee beans and flax seeds. Worth the price. However you choose to get your fruit and veg is great. Doesn't matter if you blend them or not.
  • Ugh. Well my partner mostly believes that he should work and nothing else. He actually offered to scrub the tub during his holiday break but that never happened. We've been married for 20 years so I'm mostly used to it.
  • I bake tortilla chips in the oven which saves some calories from the store bought fried variety. (Can't wait to get an air fryer). Also baked some pita chips yesterday which were so good with my hummus
  • My decision would be based solely upon the quality of the cake. If it's fresh, rich and decadent then hells yes I'm gonna eat it. If it's one of the grocery store bought, dry, overly sweet cakes then it's just not worth the calories for me.
  • I created a master list of every food I like to have in the house. Once a week I print the list and cross out everything I don't need. I then review the local grocery flyers and make notes of who has the best deals on which items. I also go through the online coupons to see if there are any matches. This method keeps my…
  • I'm plant based, not a vegan. I don't really have recipes to share, as I cook from scratch and just throw stuff together. Lol. One of my favs is a grain bowl or Buddha bowl. I start with raw greens in my bowl then add the grain du jour. (rice, millet, quinoa, etc), top with misc veggies that I have roasted, sauteed,…
  • I didn't buy any because I had boxes and boxes of several sizes of clothing. But about every 10 pounds I would spend an hour trying on some of the old (some had new tags or were just worn once) clothes. I personally found it super motivational.
  • I am a plant based eater who eats a small amount of fish (not even weekly). I also do not consume eggs or dairy. I started this lifestyle because I was attempting to eat a diet similar to the blue zones, which are the groups of people who live longest. I then developed an aversion to meat and found out that I was lactose…
  • I just finished healing from a rib crush injury. Walking is fine and I've done some light running. I've also done planks and push-ups, just to test how the ribs feel. I asked when I could return to exercise and the doc said I could exercise when I'm up for it. So very lame answer there. It took me about 4 weeks before I…
  • Best time to start is now.
  • I've always enjoyed a weekly calorie budget and I also enjoy eating every damn calorie.
  • My husband used to binge eat sweets in bed right before he fell asleep. This happened during the first 50 pounds of my weight loss. (He's since quit and lost weight) I knew that if I did the nightly sweets binge with him that I would not only not lose weight, but would gain more. So I decided to have my own treat every…
  • Before I lost the 59 pounds that I lost so far, I quit smoking. It's been 7 years now. I quit slowly because I was never good at the cold turkey thing. I didn't gain maybe more than 10 pounds but I was already obese. You obviously know how to lose weight but keeping weight off while quitting nicotine is a different story.…
  • Hey there. That's awesome! Congrats. I just realized that I'm about there as well. Now it's just a few vanity pounds that I want off. It's so slow going at the end.
  • Long hikes, long trail runs, starting to get into swimming again, generally a lot of running around is my preference. Honestly I hate sitting around on my *kitten*. Hard to keep my NEAT up when I'm sitting around.
  • Really well said! Weighing food, double checking food entries and patience wins the day.
  • (Wouldn't let me post the pic above.)
  • So much inspiration here! I've been on MFP since 2014 but almost all my real weight loss happened this year. 50 years old 5'7" SW: 222 CW: 164 GW: 155 I've lost 4 sizes and can fit into almost all of my pre-obesity clothing. I've become very active and now trail hike long distances, trail run and have goals for ultra…
