Thank you, all! So many suggestions! All I’ve had time for yet is the butter popcorn! I’ll have to go to the store for the rest. I did recently stop drinking coffee because I was wasting calories on creamer. Maybe the sudden change in coffee led to this?

Today I ate 90% of my calories for dinner. What can I say? I really wanted a Stromboli for the first time in months! But I stuck within my calories! I’m all for the big dinners, too! When I eat too heavy too early I find myself craving the same big meal later on. That’s why intermittently fasting has worked well for me. I…

I just averaged the last two weeks and it was about 15 grams on a goal of 25. So looks like I am still “under” even though I’ve been eating more, sadly. I’m on a 1350 calorie diet.

I’ve been a vegetarian for 17 years! Since I was 13!

Yes if anything I’ve probably increased. Will still regulate itself or should I back down?

I’m a teacher! I pack 150 calories of oatmeal each day for lunch with a tablespoon of peanut butter for an additional 90 calories. I don’t allow any snacks whatsoever in my room or at school. If treats are brought in for the teachers I usually take it home so I can purposefully account for the snack at a later time unless…

I’ve had more bananas and spinach, avocado, etc. I’m a vegetarian. Not sure if that matters?

You have to do what’s right for you. If this tool is leading you into unhealthy habits, then sure- refrain from using this resource. But the mindsets you speak of on your post are not the values of MyFitnessPal. In fact, it’s this same group that pushed me to INCREASE my calories to slow down my weight loss process to be…

I’m 5’4 and currently 137. I hope to get to 118-120. If I can get there successfully, I would be willing to work to 115.

It looks like a pound a week! You must not have much to lose, either! I say that’s a win!

Are you asking what size we SHOULD wear or what size we do wear haha. I’m 5’4 and used to be a solid 120-130 and wore a 4. Recently I gained weight over the holidays (thus starting this journey) and got up to 146. I needed a 6 at that point but it was snug. I’m back to 136 as of today (trying to get back to 120) and I can…

I feel you. A couple of things I do (I had a baby shower today that I hosted and had similar struggles) ... 1) Purposefully don’t eat as much or anything before the party so your calories pretty much are derived from the food at the party. 2) Set aside some of the food you are dying to eat and allocate for tomorrow’s lunch…

I was like this, too, until I started intermittent fasting. I think it was mental for me. Now I feel more alert and less sluggish until lunch! But everyone is different!

I used to suffer from body dysmorphia syndrome meaning that even at 108 pounds I felt fat and worked out like crazy. I never actually starved myself or vomited but it wasn’t good. I had to be medicated for anxiety which helped. Please don’t let it get to that point. Is it possible you feel “big” but are really perfect for…

As everyone says, it’s all about calories in and out. But it does help me to stay more disciplined about eating and is another barrier to preventing me from over eating.

Personally, I remember being satisfied with what I weighed at 120, so that’s what I set mine to. I was as low as 110 in college and early 20’s but after two kids, I think 120 is more realistic. So for me, I’m going off of previous weights. I am only 5’4 and 30 years old.

Just a check in for my own sanity! 1/2/2019: 146.0 1/8/2019: 143.6 1/17/2019: 142.2 1/22/2019: 141.0 1/30/19: 138.0 GW by 2/14 is 136 GW by June 1 is 120

I've asked a similar question before and received a lot of these same responses which were a little holier than thou in my opinion. To answer your question honestly and directly and not in textbook jargon, in the last 26 days since I have started my journey, I have had what I would call "cheat days/meals"... one was to…

Yes, as suggested on this site, I purchased a food scale.

I am 5’4 and currently at 139. I am trying to get to 120. I have been losing 1.5 per week since January 1 at 1200-1380 calories. I’m sure a lot of this was water wait initially. I expect closer to 1 pound per week moving forward.
-
I told myself when I met my first goal I could go to this local Indian buffet I love. Yesterday was the day. I regret it now. Somehow I woke up the next morning 1.5 pounds heavier than the previous morning. I’m hoping it’s the extra water and sodium I had. We shall see. I’d much rather see the smaller scale number than…

That really your body goes through natural plateaus trying to stop wait loss because your body doesn’t understand the excess weight is not needed. So a few days may go by with no weight loss. So when your body finally uses the fat, this is perhaps what seems like the woosh? Either way, glad weight loss is happening!

I just googled this and a lot of resources say this isn’t a thing? Sounded good to me but looks like it’s still a controversial topic. https://www.refinery29.com/en-us/whoosh-effect-weight-loss-meaning
-
Well maybe you can help me understand it. I look at it everyday and just don’t know much about it. I’m a vegetarian so my protein is lower than they suggest percentage wise almost daily. Which is something I’m working on. Do you use the preset calculations? Enlighten me!

Im not sure if and how often we are suppose to be updating our progress... but posting helps me stay accountable! SW (Jan 1): 146 CW (Jan 20): 140 Challenge GW (Feb 14): 136 Overall GW (June 4): 120

I’ve been eating 1200-1400 since January 1 and have lost 6 pounds. I am 5’4 and 30 years old. Light activity as I’m a teacher but little to no formal exercise. I’ve been doing the 16:8 intermittent fasting so I eat from 11-7 most days. Today I’m doing 8-4 as I woke up super early.
-
All I can say is that I’m heavier than you at 140 now and I’m only eating 1200-1348 calories so if you are lighter than me, your body would require less calories. I am also 5’4. And my goal is 120. Don’t let anyone try to tell you that you don’t need to lose weight. When I weighed 130 last summer I was also not satisfied.…

@Crafty_camper123 how long has your journey been? 160’s to 130’s is impressive! I’d love to hear your story.

Original poster- IF 16:8 def helps me stay in my caloric goals! Since I’m eating less hours, I am not tempted to late night snack or eat a ton in the morning.
