  • Fellow Dave Ramsey follower here :) We've been loosely using his plan for a few years now-paid off almost $20,000 in credit card debt following the plan, along with some medical bills, and currently only have one student loan and our mortgage left. We're on track to be completely debt free in our early 50s, which is pretty…
  • For my active weight loss phase I did ADF/JUDDD (alternate day IF)-which is pretty much calorie cycling. Now a few years into maintenance I'm in a short weight loss cycle, to get rid of some vanity pounds. I'm doing the NIH's DASH protocol and going by their serving recommendations for various food categories. This is an…
  • Welcome to the boards :) Here's some helpful links to get you started https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1234699/logging-accurately-step-by-step-guide/p1 https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1296011/calorie-counting-101/p1…
  • Yeah, I get all my fish frozen, way cheaper that way!
  • Keep maintaining.
  • I eat a mostly pescetarian diet. Things to avoid are non-fish kinds of meat. No chicken, beef, pork, lamb etc. I get most of my fish and shrimp at Aldi, don't know if you have one nearby but their seafood prices are really good (4 servings of salmon for $4 etc). I don't do a lot with recipes-salmon, whitefish etc I just…
  • My snack was very sweet-though that was probably more due to the cookies and banana I added, vs the pudding mix lol. I did a half serving of the mini Nilla cookies with one small banana, sliced, and then I just shook some of the pudding mix in, there's a lot left in the packet so probably around 1/4th packet (didn't bother…
  • Vegetables & Fruit--7 Dairy -- 3 Grains --4 Meat -- x ; Beans (alternative protein)--1 serving Added fat -- 1 (olives) Nuts and seeds --1 'Other'-- I had a can of Progresso Light soup tonight for supper and it doesn't really fit into any of the categories.
  • I checked but yeah no go :(
  • I love MFP for the forums but yeah... I don't track my food here :|
  • This thread has been a bad influence on me-ended up coming home from the store today with boxes of sugar free cheesecake flavored pudding mixes, plain Greek yogurt (still went with Chobani lol), bananas and Nilla mini cookies. Mixed them together for a snack this afternoon-so good!
  • You can definitely mix fruit together with vegetables! I have a green smoothie several times a week, which is a mix of berries, a banana, kale and then 0% fat greek yogurt. The banana flavor hides the flavor of the kale :D
  • I'm 6 years into maintenance at this point. I eat smaller portions of some things and then have swapped out other things with lower calorie substitutions-it's not a one or the other type thing, but a combination of figuring out what works best for me, for each food that I eat.
  • I love this yogurt-it also has 6g of fiber :)
  • I'm also at .5lb a week goal and my day to day is all over the place, so I look at that number on the top of Libra, that shows my loss so far for this year. Even with fluctuations (right now I'm higher than I was at last week, due to water retention etc), it's still showing a yearly trend that puts me at .5lb a week or…
  • Trans fat shouldn't really be in foods anymore, besides trace amounts that occur naturally in some foods (dairy, meat etc).
  • Weight loss comes down to being at the correct calorie deficit for your weight loss goals, regardless of what macros ratios or plan you're following. Start logging your food and use a food scale. This will help you to fit in all the foods you enjoy eating, but in a controlled manner that works with your goals. Many people…
  • Like pp asked-how do you know you're accurately tracking your macros if you're not accurately measuring out portions?
  • I had hoped the whole paleo craze had run its course, looks like someone is still trying to make money off of it though sigh....
  • I started out with a food scale and a floor scale (for weigh-ins). Lost 50lbs with those very basic items. Later on I added a good pair of walking shoes, a Nutribullet (for my green smoothies), and then a weight trending app (Happy Scale for apple, Libra for android). I've been in maintenance for years now and have kept…
  • Oh yikes, I wouldn't get very far lol.
  • Vegetables & Fruit--9 Dairy -- 2 Grains --4 Meat -- 4oz ; Beans (alternative protein)--1 serving Added fat -- 1 (olives) Nuts and seeds --1 Added sugar -- yes (condiments)
  • Happy Monday DASHers :) Solid day so far, I'm on track to hit my targets today- nice to start the week on a high note! I'm also realizing that while I'm not a fan of fruit, I really like oranges! A local store had a deal on Saturday-an 8lb bag of oranges for $4. I bought them with the idea of trying to dehydrate them, but…
  • Large salads with beans or shrimp added (you can mix everything together at home and then put in a container for work.
  • I've tried Fage but I like Dannon Oikos Triple Zero Greek yogurt better. I use the Orange Cream flavored one in my green smoothies and while it has a few more calories than Fage 0% (120cal vs 90cal), and 3 less g of protein, it also has 6g of fiber vs Fage which has none. I aim for at least 30g of fiber a day so this…
  • You're in the main forum area of the site, which covers all sorts of diet/health/fitness topics. If you're looking for the IF sub-group, here's the link to one of the more active IF groups https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/49-intermittent-fasting
  • I'm eating all sorts of packaged and 'processed' foods today, from the whole grains and seeds bread I ate for breakfast, the large salad I'll eat for lunch which has packaged veggies, canned black beans and bottled dressing, to my afternoon green smoothie which will include a package of Greek yogurt, frozen bagged…
  • In terms of weight loss it doesn't matter what kinds of foods you're eating-only that you're at the correct calorie deficit for your weight loss goals. For overall health it's good to focus on nutrient dense foods-veggies and fruit etc. but all food has calories and it all counts. You can gain weight eating 'healthy' just…
  • Meal timing and meal frequency don't matter, it's a preference thing. What matters is that you're hitting your calorie targets-you can do that with snacks, without snacks, with three meals, without three meals etc.
  • Flavored coffees :)
