  • Welcome! I noticed you mentioned that you didn't like Noom's food tracking. I really like the food tracking that MFP and I only have experience with MFP. It is funny that you mention that because I am a firm believer that tracking is key. I know when I came back last year it was because I stopped tracking and gained back…

  • Welcome catsch1958, What Steve said is gospel. You can exercise til the cows come home but at the end of the day if calories in are more than calories out you are not gonna lose. You have to accurately count calories and hold your self accountable. You got this!
  • Checking in - Woke up this morning to 28 degrees F here in East Tennessee. We have been having a cold snap here the last couple of weeks. Even though the mornings are cold the sun has been coming out and making my walks enjoyable. My morning walks have transformed into afternoon walks. The brisker temps are energizing and…
  • bON, Thanks for sharing about the sleep thing. I totally agree. The previous year before I retired the covid thing was going strong and work was a bear(totally stressed out). I had started taking over the counter sleep aids regularly. So when I retired in Jan. of this year I was still taking them. After the stress subsided…
  • Checking in. Maintenance has been very successful so far and been holding at 176 lbs in my street clothes for several months. The key is tracking although I try to be active at least 30 minutes a day and walk a minimum of 4 times a week. The NSV I am seeing is reduced pant size, improved mobility, muscle tone, reduced…
  • Checking in. Hope everyone is doing well. I have been getting several friend requests lately. About 50% porn/robot and the other 50% not sure. The porn ones are pretty easy to recognize so I can quickly decline. The others are hard to tell until you accept. So even if I am on their friends list, be cautious because I may…
  • Awesome to hear Steve! I will continue to send positive energy and prayers your way!
  • Checking in.......Been in maintenance since April. I am holding my weight. Actually couple pounds under. I am seeing a lot of NSV. I am wearing a smaller waist size. I actually have muscle tone. I have been doing a lot of house remodeling and noticed I can do things that would not be possible at the beginning of this year.…
  • That is something to be very proud of! Have a great day!
  • That is so awesome! Thanks for sharing!
  • Welcome! Many others and I have found great success here. Have a great day!
  • Welcome! You have came to the right place.
  • Since I have retired, I am a lot more active. I just got through re-modeling mom's small cottage so I could move into it so I could start re-modeling pre-retirement house and sell. Everyday I am moving stuff, cleaning stuff, fixing stuff, etc. The activity was so off the wall, I turned off my notice for cardio exercise but…
  • I can name that tune!
  • Checking in...been busy remodeling houses so I have been walking less because I am very active now. Weight is actually a little lower than I would like it to be so been snacking more to compensate. Tracking keep me in line.
  • Tracking is key! You can exercise til the dogs come home but at the end of the day if you have more calories in than out, then you are spinning your wheels.
  • Welcome! Tracking is going to be key. Once you get a handle on that, you will start seeing results. Hang in there! You got this!
  • I am gonna jump on the tracking bandwagon too. I first started in 2018. I exercised. Thought as long as I exercised tracking didn't matter. Wrong! Began tracking, lost weight and got to my goal. Ok got to my goal, thought I could stop. Wrong! Gained back 10 lbs. Been at goal weight this time since April. Still tracking and…
  • Hello Soultraveller1, welcome to MFP. I think it is great you have got on this forum so you can get so much great advice from many different perspectives. Your situation may be different from mine but when I first joined all I knew was that I needed to lose weight. The first thing I learned was that the calorie tracking…
  • Old hippies got to stick together!
  • Praying and sending positive energy your way Steve.
  • Hey Michael. I noticed you don't have any friends. I believe if you collected some friends it would help you on your journey. I have found a great bunch of people on here that provide great support and accountability. Shoot me a friend's request if you want. I would be glad to provide support. Congrats on getting down to…
  • Steve, sending prayers and positive energy your way!
  • Sounds like you have a plan! Awesome! I just retired. We have a cabin on the lake in the Tennessee mountains. Don't have a personal trainer but do a lot of walking. II am currently doing a pushup challenge. We have a pedal boat and the cabin is about 400ft from where we can put it in the lake. I got my wife and I both…
