@saresimsr36 I've done both successfully at the same time. It is completely possible and just takes a little extra work. The biggest part of weight gain with quitting smoking is because you replace the hand to mouth motion with food.... just make wiser food choices when doing this, and plan for it in your calorie…

@QueenofCaffeine4Life - on the mobile app you can go under goals on the menu and change your settings (weight, goal to lose, activity level). That will update your calorie goal

What is your activity level set at in MFP? If its sedentary, with that many steps, an adjustment like that is quite possible.

I just did a 50 mile ride over the weekend (spread out over 14 hours - 5.5 total hours on the bike). Carbs were definitely my friend before and during this! I never ride much more than a few miles and didn't realize how many calories this can burn!

Are you set as sedentary? If so, those adjustments aren't high with that many steps. Also, it's and adjustment for your daily calories, not specific amount of steps. MFP thinks you burn less than you did when you were heavier, that's why the adjustments are larger now than before. You can click on the adjustment to get the…

I agree with using both the scales and measurements. Sometimes they don't move at the same time and only using one can get discouraging. My scale has moved 27 pounds, but the areas I seem to be measuring aren't the ones where its coming from, so my measurements haven't really changed much. If I only went by the tape, I'd…

It happened a few times to me also. I was able to go to the website and delete both entries, and at the next sync it worked properly.

Thank you!!! That makes sense. I usually don't go by the weekly graph and I have a pretty good idea of where my calories are at for the week without it, but I noticed that yesterday and it threw me off.

It looks as though you are severely under eating. You may be losing weight (I'm sure quicker than recommended) and feeling good now, but that will change. 1500 calories is the MINIMUM recommended for a male, and you are netting around half of that. You may want to consider eating some of the calories back, or set your…

I usually buy a rotisserie chicken and cut it up and freeze it in weighed portions. I will use it in wraps with veggies, with frozen veggies and rice, on a salad, or in a chicken noodle soup. It's cheap and will usually get me through week or week and a half of lunches.

Congrats on the decision to quit! Quitnow is an app to track everything that has a great supportive and active community on it.

I can't figure out how to get a screenshot to work but on Sunday I had just about the same amount of steps after walking around a zoo all day, and I had an adjustment of, 1,444 calories. My activity level is set to active and it was still that high. I'm confident my fitbit is accurate and trust it based on months of…

I'm guessing with a base calorie goal of 1500 you are set to sedentary and to lose 2 pounds a week. 20k+ steps is more than very active, so that's probably a legit adjustment. You could start with only eating 50-75% of those for 4-6 weeks and see if you are losing as expected. If you're losing faster, you can eat more of…

It's a option in the diary settings you can turn on, that way if you aren't as active as MFP thinks you are, it will adjust your calories down to keep your deficit what you told it you wanted to be. You may start the day with less calories, but it will adjust up as you sync throughout the day. If you're pretty active and…

Most have classes you can sign-up for based on different things you want to work on. Some are one on one, some are small groups. It's included in the base membership. And most have a trainer you can work with. There is a new MyTrack thing they are doing, that is an extra $5 a month, but I am not sure what all that entails.…

Either way you do it, the number comes out the same at the end. If you still want to log excerises, you put the start time and duration and that will replace the fitbit calories for that time, overall changing what the adjustment would be. If you don't do anything, you just get the adjustment. Keep in mind it may be a…

Mine doesn't seem to count arm movements in - maybe a few when folding laundry or something of that sort, but I step between the machines so I don't care about those and it's so few in the overall day it doesn't affect much. If you are having a problem with yours counting extra arm movements, change your settings in fitbit…

It depends what your activity level is set as ... if its sedentary, or even lightly active, then that's probably not too many... you can look at the details to see how it came up with that number based on your settings
-
Use the recipe builder. Log all the ingredients as you prepare it, weigh the finished product and use that weight in grams as the servings. When you portion it out to eat, weigh that and log the number of grams as the servings you eat. Ex - The total weigh of finished meal is 1000 grams... you use 100... log 100 servings…

Thanks for all your help! I'm hoping to have enough time left after my appointment with the trainer today to walk that slow mile on the treadmill of not it'll have to stay as is for a week or so. I'm seeing the expected results with my weight loss, so I'm not too concerned if I have to put it off a bit. I'd just like to…

Thanks! My pace at rge 5k was about 3.15... Just over a 19 minute mile. That's probably my average excerise pace honestly. I'm working in getting it up more, but that was a comfortable pace I could go for a while at. I have been averaging about 9000 steps daily for the last few weeks, so I'm not sure how much of a…

@heybales - Thank you! You know so much about them! I did change it to a custom max HR so it has to get to 100bpm instead of 93 for the time being to keep it from going into "fat-burn" when I'm not exercising so often. That seems to have helped some. Sometimes folding a large load of laundry would put it there (not sure if…
-
@heybales - Do you know when the fitbit switches from a step-based calculation to an HR-based calculation? Is it based on a certain amount of time it sees an elevated HR? I feel like mine goes into "fat-burn" a lot when its just normal movement? I'm still trying to dial in the accuracy of mine. It will show an extra hour…

Good call on the 3 hours ... Comes out to about 175 minutes. I think just doing it in the morning will be best for me. I always open the app to get my lunch ready for the day.

I will buy a rotisserie chicken and cook up veggies (peppers, onions, mushrooms, etc) and use that throughout the week for wraps, or put it over rice. It doesn't take long on a Sunday to prepare them for the week so I just have to grab a container in the morning. Or I'll use the chicken added to a bag of salad mix for a…
