This is a link to a great video on BMR and TDEE discussion - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bYEVIqBEW4. If you find yourself in a plateau this is a great article - https://bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss/the-full-diet-break.html/

There are lots of calculators out on the web that can help you set a TDEE and macros, but since every one is different you will have to continually update your macros until you find the combination that best suits your weight loss goals. I would normally change my macros about every 2-3 weeks until I found the combination…

I've found that I lose weight at a slower rate in my 40s, but I've still managed to shed 35 pounds in 5 months. The key for me was changing in the kitchen. "You can't out train your diet". I can't remember who said it, or where I read it, but that quote got me to start taking nutrition super serious. I started…

Hi! I turned 42 this year and set out this past jan to lose weight. It took a lot of dedication, but I dropped ~35 pounds 212 ->177. The exercise regiment I follow focuses on intensity over duration. I do strength training 3 days/week, HIIT 2 days/week, and sprinkle in some road/mountain biking on the weekends. The…

I've been told if you brew coffee with a touch of salt it removes the bitterness.

I lost 33 pounds in just a calorie deficet. I think I was eating somewhere around 200-250g of carbs a day. They can't be garbage carbs, but I'm sure you know that. I made sure my plates were about 40% protein, 40% fibrous veggies, and 20% starchy carbs.

I meal prep breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks for the entire week every Sunday afternoon (it takes me about 3-4 hours depending on what I prepare). I plan to eat at my TDEE on training days M-F, and I knock off about 200 calories on my non-training days. I used data from my initial 30 pound weight loss to calculate my…

I weighed myself every Monday morning for the first three months to build of picture of my actual TDEE because those online calculators are only so accurate.

Initially 1, but now I try to eat back a percentage because with my now high activity level in the gym I was burning off a lot of calories and leaving myself in too large of a deficit. I dropped 33 pounds in just over 3 months (212 ->179). I thought it was awesome at the time, but looking back it was too aggressive and it…

I'm not 5'8 (6'4"), but I used IF as an aggressive tool to drop weight fast: 30 pounds in 3 months. The risk we took doing that was sacrificing muscle tissue along with fat loss (Google skinny fat). Three sure-fire ways to stay skinny-fat are: severely restrict your calories; do large amounts of cardio; and do little-to-no…

Hitting the potassium goals are so difficult for me, on a reduced calorie diet! What’s helped you the most? [/quote] Taking a potassium supplement and eating a lot of fish, spinach, brussel spouts, squash, and non-fat plain greek yogurt. I also take and Omega-3 and Magnesium supplement.

I drink 12 grams of protein, eat 2 squares of 86% cacao dark chocolate and 2 tbsps of PB Fit every night about 30 minutes prior to bed (my treat to myself), and I'm down 32 lbs. My technique is scheduling out all of my meals for an entire week and spreading out my calories/macro across 6 meals, which I eat in 2.5-3 hour…

I'm 42 and this past January I decided it was time for change. When I first started this journey I was definitely ignorant in most things nutrition science relate. I started experimenting with a 5:2 diet; five days of eating clean (2500 calories) with two 600 calorie fasting days. It was difficult, but after six weeks of…

I started getting my protein from this place -https://proteinfactory.com/product-category/whey-protein/. I'm trying to avoid "amino spiking" and soy lecithin that is prevalent in a lot of powders. If you aren't familiar with amino spiking just do a web search; lots of clues to look for when considering different brands.
