  • Scrambled eggs or omelette- so fast to cook and it’s easy to add veggies to bump up the volume and goodness. My favourites would be scrambled eggs with spinach and feta, or omelette with left over roast veg. Edited: oops, I missed the “take to work” request - I’m stuck at home in covid lockdown this week, so work is at…
  • I think the simple answer would be no, Most of the database entries are user-entered, so they rely on the info that is available on the nutrition panel in that particular part of the world, and on the user to enter accurately!
  • It can help to use a teaspoon- crack the egg then ease a teaspoon between the egg and the shell. This makes it much easier for me.
  • What did you do? You spent time with family and ate more than you usually do for a few days. That’s it really, not a big deal in the long term, hopefully it was enjoyable family time, that’s really precious, especially at this time when the world is so messed up. Just go back to your usual healthier choices and everything…
  • Or 250ml if you are in Australia. Check the dropdown quantity options for grams if it’s not a liquid, that’s going to be most accurate for most things.
  • I alternate alcoholic drinks with a glass of plain soda water with ice and lime. It’s refreshing and keeps me busy and feels as though I’m joining in when others are drinking. I also enjoy lighter beers (Pure Blonde is my fave) which are pretty low in cals. Maybe try the lighter cal options that are available in your area…
  • Like everything else (meat, rice, pasta etc) you can do either - you just need to make sure you have a database entry that states raw or cooked. I’d agree that raw entries are likely to be more accurate, but I know that’s not always easy so you find a “cooked” entry if that’s what you need.
  • I read it as an alternative to “carbs” - it feels like a dieting term from about the 70s or earlier- maybe from weight watchers or something. I’m old too!

  • If you want to lose weight, then the place to start is to log what you are eating and stick to a reasonable calorie deficit. In terms of what to eat - there is no specific diet for a human based on age. If you have no medical reasons to eat a specific diet, then I think a variety of food is important (gives you the best…
  • I like the idea of pickled grapes, but wonder how you eat them.... I’m thinking as part of a cheese board? Or as a snack like olives?
  • Oh wow, this takes me back to my childhood - cream buns from the Rottnest Bakery in the 70s! (Home of the quokka)
  • I’ve had a number of Berlei sports bras over the past 5 or 6 years and they have been great. They fit me well and give good support. For any sports bra I would be prepared to try them on, not just buy online as small differences have a big impact on fit.
  • Toast and vegemite is my fallback food when I can’t stomach much else. That probably doesn’t help non-Aussies though. Or toast and avocado, thinly sliced apple and cheese... really though, anything you can tolerate is fine at this point. If it’s hot where you are, look for some electrolyte icypoles- they can be a good way…
  • I’d use the recipe builder - even if raw chicken is the only ingredient. You can the weigh the cooked product and enter the number of grams as servings (eg 346g = 346 servings). Then weigh out the amount you eat each time and enter that many servings. It’s the same outcome as the suggestions above, but makes the software…
  • Pure Blond beer - 92 cals/bottle. It’s apparently low carb, though I really don’t care about that, I like the lower cal count and it tastes good to me. If we are out I’ll usually alternate a beer with a soda water (plain with just some fresh lemon or lime) - it’s fizzy, and social and no cals.
  • It’s hard to estimate, but I would probably look at database entries for stock, and use one of those. If there was a bit of fat on the bones I’d estimate high, if not go medium.
  • Agreed - my husband has had jobs where carrying electronic devices would be a sackable offence, so this is not good general advice. OP, I think the best advice is upthread - pick an activity level, track accurately for a month or more and use your own data to see how you are going. Oh, and to discuss further with your…
  • I’ve only had them when they were freebies after a race and thought they were vile. That is the case with most artificially sweetened drinks that I’ve tried though, I just don’t like the taste.
  • Don’t overthink this - pick a calorie level (I suggest use the MFP goal to start with) and start logging what you eat. Aim for that number, plus extra when you exercise and see how things go after a few weeks. Then you can start tweaking things if you need to. And yes, you can eat more on one day if there is an event and a…
  • I this is a question for a professional who knows your wife. Can she get a referral to a dietitian?
  • Roasted eggplant pasta - basically a big tray of veggies (red onion, red capsicum, yellow capsicum, eggplants, garlic, Roma tomatoes) drizzled with olive oil and salt/pepper, oven roasted until they were soft and almost charred. Blended, and added to pasta with grilled chicken, fresh basil and a few dollops of soft…
  • I used to get a local version (Dinner Twist - for anyone in Western Australia), and loved it. It was definitely more expensive compared to doing my own planning and shopping but the food was mostly locally sourced and great quality. At that point in time I was finding it hard to get motivated to cook for just me as my…
