Hi! I'm not sure if anyone has shared yet what I'm about to suggest: I am now down 103 lbs. but have hit several plateaus. About 2 months or more ago, I started re-feeding to get my metabolism OUT OF stuck on burning 1,200. The reason for the "stuck" was, I believe, because my body had readjusted to its deficit calories…

How do I find this place again? The topics on MFP rotate and I don't know how to come back and find you. I'm liking the encouragement to each other I see here. Go folks! We're doing great things!

I haven't read all this thread but the beginning is good. Has anyone mentioned FlyLady? = Finally Loving Yourself. Look it up, nice website and encouraging. All the best to everyone. Moving and have lots to let go of - kids all out, downsizing to a very small place,... have lost 100lbs in less than a year... need to lose…

you're really trying

Thanks, RobertW: A thoughtful and helpful response. You're appreciated. :)

I haven't read all the responses so I apologize in advance if this has been answered. Would someone please give feedback on what might be happening to me when I try to do HIIT? I'm not in the greatest of shape but have managed to lose 100 lbs. mostly by correcting diet with dense nutrition and with some caloric deficit.…

Fantastic! So proud of you and rejoice with you. I'm getting my life back, too, after 30 years - will be 60 next month. Can't post that I've been at it 2 yrs yet but I've lost 100 lbs and have 30-35 more to go. Purposefully went back to maintenance calories (because my body had adjusted to the deficit and therefore didn't…

btw: the Nautilus machine for tilts/lower back strengthening can be used by this motion, as well.
-
I have tried and seen results in back tilting, as opposed to crunches. I tighten my gluteus and tilt backward, hold, stand back up straight, about 20 x2/day if I remember. still in the patience run with you. I also sometimes just massage the area - I know this might be just in my head but I want to break up the fat stores…

PS: we know of a man that was on such salt-restriction that it caused a terrible outcome. Unfortunately, he was in a car wreck and at the scene of the accident the EMT's rushed in a drip-line. His system was used to so little salt that the infusion caused terrible damage and the outcome was ultimately fatal. I have some RN…

I wonder how much salt our friend is really getting. I was restricting my salt thinking I was doing myself a favor and lived at around 500-800mg a day. Some research has shown that more is better but I don't mean NaCl, typical table salt. Since doing some research on migraines, and getting through keto flu which threw me…

Thanks for your feedback, Novus. I am having good success and will continue to guinea pig myself. Those were suggestions not gospel, but they're worth what others might want to try so it was with good intent. I will go back to intermittent fasting very shortly which helps burn up lots of fat stores by autophagy and…

I also stopped my 16/18/20 everyday IF for about a month. I "gained" bet 2-5 lbs with a 70-100% increase in calories for this past month and only gained back 2-5 lbs. Scarey as the thought seems, increase your calories for about a month, make sure you're getting your electrolytes and sufficient sleep, take it easy on…

I changed my "stall" recently but bumping up my calories to reset my metabolism to a higher rate.
-
First of all, congrats so much on your success to this point. Even the stall is something to learn from and I'm thrilled you are seeking to move on from your plateau. I, too, found a plateau after 100lb loss. It's your body's way of readjusting to the new (same thing every day) amount of calories. In the beginning, your…

whoops! didn't move to the last response,.... sorry sweet
-
I could do that,....
-
In other words, if your body ADJUSTS to 1,000 calories, then your metabolism does not consider this a caloric restriction anymore because it has adjusted to it - that's why you can get stalled. The problem here is, unless you want to eat only 1,000 day for the rest of your life which makes it kind of difficult to get all…
-
I found this to be true, as well. I was in 30% caloric deficit but in plateau. It is because the body adjusts in homeostasis to a lower caloric intake but still plenty of energy. The way I had to break this was to reseed higher calories to reset my metabolism. Now, I'm going back to caloric restriction. The pain from the…

I lost 100lbs on keto (and feel fantastic with remarkably great labs) and started into a stall. My "fix" was to begin a higher caloric intake to bring my metabolism up. In the keto circles I've shared in, there isn't much talk about caloric restriction stalling you out via your body shooting for homeostasis. Since I was…

I HATE going to a western medicine doctor - but I will go when I need labs drawn. Please go get checked. You don't have to take an antibiotic but your weight gain, swelling and fatigue sounds like an indiction of infection. After that trip, which should be priority at this point, please add rest to your regimen. That's my…
