Serious question for the room - anyone have recommendations for chafing nipples? :# Like do bandaids work? I’m getting some irritation I think from sweat running down my chest, and it’s very salty. I usually wear cotton sports bras.

During high school and most of college I was underweight. After graduating I moved in with my in-laws a few states south, while we saved for a house. They are all overweight, and I was expected to eat meals with them and clean my plate. It wasn’t a healthy environment, and I gained about 35lbs, putting me into the…

You can call it as much as you want, but that’s from her dietician! She’s on a very limited diet regimen now and has been exercising daily. The take-away point I’m trying to make is that the best thing someone can do if they’re struggling to lose weight, while measuring caloric intake and exercising, is to speak with a…

This is true. Most developed countries have implemented a sugary drink tax, but in conjunction some have also required the amount of sugar in those products to be reduced by a certain percentage. France also implemented a law that refills on sugary drinks are no longer allowed. I hope that the US would eventually follow…

You may want to check with a dietician regarding your BMR. For example, at age 30, height 5’2.5”, weight 137lbs, mine is about ~1400. It continues to drop as you get older, and for primarily sendentary people you only add about 1-200 calories burned on top of that daily. If you are biking, you may be overcalculating the…

I think implementing laws that limit the size of sodas sold at restaurants and fast food places would be beneficial. No one needs a 44oz full sugar soda from the gas station. Also controlled portion sizes/limits. You go out to eat and you get two meals for the price of one at a lot of places. Instead of offering large…

You could try alternative sources of protein - beans, tofu, skim milk etc. - that are fat free.

I like weighing myself daily. It keeps me motivated to see that .1 or .2 lb loss each day. And if it doesn’t move or goes up? I know I need to put in a little extra effort on my exercise the next day. Whatever keeps me going!

I’m sure for some people it’s good, but for me it would be awful. My gallbladder started giving me pain a few years ago, and a HIDA scan showed 5% or less ejection rate, which basically means it doesn’t work properly to secrete bile, causing the build up and pain when I eat fatty foods. Low fat diet only for me. ;(

No one is having a go at you. You’re victimizing yourself for no reason. You asked what people thought of set point theory. The bulk of responders say they think its bs. Most everyone uses MFP because they believe in calories in / calories out *math*. And it works. I recently started a medication 8 weeks ago that has a…

Beautiful hike at Fall Creek Falls today! Hiked for about four hours, total distance about 4 miles. Minor elevation gain of 1350 ft.

I walk around my building on my break. Take the stairs. Park further away in the parking lot. If you can in the morning or at night, lift weights for 10 minutes. You can focus on one area a day or multiple, but do it every day. Squats are good. I also lay in bed and do a about 50-100 bicycle crunches. You’ll feel a good…
