  • @conniewilkins56 I think "lifestyle" is probably an accurate description. I wasn't complaining about the term so much, just complaining about my stupid reaction to it. I really like the way @NovusDies describes it as just changing what normal looks like.
  • I kinda hate that "lifestyle" being the current buzz word we hear over and over has made me roll my eyes every time someone says it. I don't know why I have that automatic reaction when it's used as the mantra by everyone newly starting. I actually agree with everything said here.
  • I've been MIA for a few months. I didn't spiral or anything, just kind of apathetic since my vacation in August. I keep meaning to type out a "where have I been" update, just haven't gotten there yet. I've spent the last few weeks reading everything I missed trying to catch up! So glad to see most still here! I'll…
  • It seems crazy to me! It also happens in the grocery isles - there are 5 or 6 that alternate correctly, then 2 in a row going the same way, then alternating then another 2 going the same way. It's no wonder folks aren't following them anymore (mostly)!
  • I hate the layout of the one way arrows in my local Walmart. If they would alternate every isle, I think I could handle it better, but instead, they randomly have 2 in a row going the same way (ex. the 2 "dog" isles - they're right next to each other, but go the same way). The worst was the section where the shampoo, etc.…
  • Yes! That's how it has been here, as well. I've already increased my hours again & can't seem to keep on top of it all. Adding in CPE on all these new things doesn't help either. It has definitely been the weirdest year! Here in Nashville, it kicked off when the tornadoes/lost power, then the virus. I'm still here &…
  • Hi all! I'm sorry I've been MIA for a while. I've been here & read every single post, but haven't made the time to comment in a while. I know the tax deadlines getting extended are a good thing, but MAN it has done a number on us CPAs! From mid-February to April 15th, I pretty much unintentionally maintained. All of the…
  • So, I have now reached the point where I really need to up my activity. I have 110ish left to lose & my sedentary calorie "goal" is now calculated by MFP to be 1240. I'm thinking at 10 more lbs, I'll be at the minimum. I think that might venture into the "not sustainable" place for me. I'd have to change the way I eat…
  • @speyerj I'm not doing low carb or anything, but I love those Mission Carb Balance Flour Tortillas! I think they taste as good or better than regular flour tortillas & I really like that it has a good bit of fiber, a little protein & only 70 cals while still being relatively big. I more or less use it for a vehicle for…
  • I agree. It is different having a lot to lose & is very helpful to have others navigating similar issues. I appreciate every one of you that shares your triumphs and struggles. It is very helpful to have others around to get it. I don't have a ton of those in real life. I have some great friends & family in my life, but…
  • @NovusDies or anyone else... would you share some of the columns you have in your spreadsheet. I'm not too happy with the one I created & have been using for the last 6 months, but can't for the life of me come up with what all info/calculations I want in it! I love numbers and I usually will edit/adjust templates to make…
  • I agree. I'll probably need to always log. I think my lesson from the break was that next time I plan to have a period of time at maintenance, I'd like to do it when I can (at least mostly) accurately log instead of when I know I'll be guestimating a lot. We went to several local restaurants & had many home cooked meals &…
  • @merph518 that's awesome! :)
  • Half of my 6 lb uptick has come off so far, but I've eaten a lot of sodium this week (salsa chicken has a ton!), so I think at least some of the rest is due to the increased sodium & some from increased activity as well & maybe a very small portion actual gain. I did enjoy the holidays and am proud of myself for relaxing…
  • I relate so much to what's been said above. I also took a "break" 12/21 - 1/1. It was intentional and planned and my first extended time at maintenance since I started back in June. I did much better mentally than I anticipated. I expected to be anxious about the fact that I wouldn't be able to weigh daily and having to be…
  • @tiffany80802017 I am in the same boat. Almost 50 lbs gone & still in the same size. I gain & lose very evenly, so not sure when I'll get down to the next size, but I know it will come eventually. I went to the Dr. on Friday and (last appt with this Dr. was late May). My blood pressure was low, but not making me dizzy or…
  • @NovusDies Yes! That was a great thread! I have read that one & several like it & have actually implemented several of those suggestions. I think I need more time in my normal routine to get some accurate data... I feel like that data from select weeks over the last few months (mainly those while traveling or eating foods…
  • I know, but I still have 126 to lose! I was hoping to stay on 2 lbs a week for at least another 50+ lbs. If it starts feeling too difficult/restrictive, I'll adjust it & hopefully when I increase my activity, that will help some, too. I was more surprised than anything on how much it dropped without changing anything but…
  • Hi everyone! Sorry, I've been another that's been MIA for a while. It has been a busy few months with tax deadlines, tax planning, work trips & holidays. I've read every single post during that time, so I felt like I was still an active part of the group until I realized that I hadn't actually said anything in a long time.…
  • Like a lot of folks, my weight has been a struggle all of my life. I'm on day 115 & that sounds crazy to me. This is probably the longest I've been able to stick to any attempt at weight loss. I have a LOT to lose, so originally I just felt overwhelmed all of the time. I also struggle with perfectionism (i.e. my anxiety…
  • So glad you had a good time & thank you so much for sharing! I like that you see this as getting back to normal instead of starting over or starting again. That alone shows that there was no failure here. Actually, I think that the fact that you were able to not obsess about logging or the process or being perfect and were…
  • @DogMom919 I'm the same way. I'm here pretty much every day, but don't post nearly as often as I should. It's such a great group & I really love reading everyone's posts every day, I just need to get better at contributing!
  • @hansep0012 thanks! I have been using a measuring tape from the beginning, it's just hard to tell a whole lot since I lose so evenly. I know in the end that's a good thing, it just makes it harder to see the results along the way. One more exercise in patience! :D
  • In general, I agree with the measuring tape, but I'm so evenly distributed & it appears my fat comes off that way as well, so it takes a long time to see changes in the measuring tape. I haven't decided what I'll do about the scale yet. For now, I'm just going to keep on keeping on!
  • I found that my calorie goal didn't change as I lost weight unless I went into my profile & just clicked the button to save or update (not sure what it was called exactly). I did that after about 20 lbs & my calorie goal decreased. I didn't change any of the settings or numbers, I just had to make MFP use the numbers it…
  • I'm wondering if I should get a new scale or just keep on with the one I'm using since it seems accurate overall. I've been in this pattern where I weigh the exact same for a 5-7 days, then see a new low for a day (sometimes 2) then go back up (sometimes all the way, sometimes only part of the way) & stay there for another…
  • @NovusDies has created a group for those with larger amounts to lose. I've found lots of great information & support in that group. I have no idea how to link to it, but it's called Larger Losers. Great folks there. :)
  • Well... I didn't go to the gym yesterday. I worked late, went home, made my smoothie & went to bed at a reasonable hour. I did stay with just the food I planned to eat, so that's a win. I had a hungry day Sunday. It was the first time I actually logged over my "limit" & saw the red. It was a good exercise in fighting my…
  • I got my Vitamix this weekend & made a protein shake my sister-in-law has been telling me about. It tasted like chocolate peanut butter ice cream! I haven't figured out the Vitamix enough to get the consistency just right, but it still tasted great! I'm really excited to try the strawberry banana smoothie that should hide…
