I also suppose the set point theory is lost on many folks here...there's more to weight loss than CICO. Not saying it's not valid. Again. Over-simplified.

I mean if you're using one example my husband ate a ridiculous amount of calories and dropped a ton of weight...there are a lot of details that people are overlooking. Nowhere did I say that CICO was invalid. I said it is over-simplified. And it is.

I can introduce myself in three languages.

Pilates for the first time in quite a while. My butt cheeks are still twitching.

Check out these stations on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/blogilates (blogilates) https://www.youtube.com/user/yogawithadriene (yoga with Adriene is FABULOUS for beginners! And she's such a sweet hippie chick-wish she was my friend LOL)

It can walk that fine line of love/hate depending how many chair poses my teacher makes me do. LOL

"so your sarcastic comment about cheeseburgers isn't really applicable as CICO does not negate nutrition, they are separate things." The concept of CICO is to eat less than you burn. Plain and simple. And this is also where insane diets such as the cabbage soup diet, the donut diet... CICO is also proven wrong by the…

Oh my good gracious sweet baby Jesus that looks good.

I also think you're willfully misunderstanding or misinterpreting what I am saying. Also do not make assumptions about what I do and do not understand. I am a registered dietitian. :) I have a little more of a scientific and professional background than you give me credit for.

Yoga, baby! Hit up the "yogis unite" thread-it's fantastic exercise and also elevates mood..for me it also helped me get more in tune with my body-and my spirit/mental health. I am also an avid runner who's on the bench now due to chronic injuries over the last 1.5 years...returning to running in September (can't wait),…

I do not have time for that...not at all. But...it's easy...for YOU...so...good for you.

Sounds like one way to get malnourished really quickly.

This is also where things like "calories in vs calories out" gets to be so dangerous. That mentality can be quite disordered and also doesn't take into account individual metabolic variables. No mathematical equation can accurately tell you how many calories your body really needs...maybe a rough estimate to go by-but I…

This must be a joke/troll. Nobody actually thinks this is possible...or healthy.

Breakfast: Mesa flakes with raisins and almond milk, a few pieces of dried mango (NOM) Lunch: pear, cottage cheese, veggies with buffalo-blue cheese hummus Dinner: baramundi with a sauce made from cherry tomatoes and olives, green beans Wine...because...wine.

Depends. A LOT less in the summer, since I'm usually eating more salads and cold stuff like sandwiches (what else do you do when it's 90 degrees with 80% humidity...*barf*). In the winter I'll do freezer meals so make large batches of things like spaghetti meat sauce or casseroles or soups/stews...then freeze some so I…

Maybe if we stopped caring SO MUCH about how our bodies look and cared more about HEALTH... People only get discouraged because we all feel like we have to live up to these ridiculous standards of what health should LOOK like. Washboard abs, low BF%, thigh gaps, bikini bridges, bubble butts, runner's calves, etc. It's all…

OMG those handstands!!!

Did you fuel immediately after the workout and do stretches?

GOD I hate that term.

You should do both and not just for the calorie deficit. Cardio is exercise for your heart (hence...Cardio-cardiac...) Don't just do physical activity for weight loss and for how your body looks-do it for your health. Our bodies need both. Your heart is a muscle and it needs exercise to stay strong so that if/when (god…

So glad you've discovered a practice that you enjoy, embrace and get a lot out of! I too am doing more yoga as I recover from running/overuse injuries and it's been helpful mentally and physically. We all feel like we look silly at times. For me it was embracing things like "Lion's breath" and "Breath of Joy" where I felt…

Huzzah!!!! Oh yay! I'm so glad! Yoga is my jam...good for the body, mind and soul. Namaste, new friend!

I know-arm balances are way less of an issue for me, but a lot of standing balance poses are tough-Warrior 3 and Dancer pose are almost impossible LOL

Aww! Banff! I'm originally from Missoula, MT and we used to visit Glacier all the time. Beautiful country out there (but I'm a little biased).

I like to do my own home practice...and doing it on my own without an instructor or video was SUPER weird at first....but then once you get into it, not only is it easy but it's liberating and fun. You don't have to do it like I do, but this is how I go about doing my own home practice (sometimes outdoors is fun if the…

I'm glad the instructors at my studio always encourage us to stay hydrated...I can't believe a teacher would say no water.
