Hugs. I have a tendency to get ‘down’ as well. I agree that focusing too much on the past can cause us to not enjoy the present. I find my long solitary walks outdoors help to keep me on an even keel. I am naturally more in the present when I walk because I’m focused on the beauty I’m seeing. For others doing an activity…

At the moment I’m not super focused on exact %s or low carb, but I tend to naturally eat fairly low carb since I avoid refined sugar and processed grains. MFP makes it very easy to keep track of total carbs, fat, & protein. Whatever initial goals you set, consider it a work in progress, which you will adjust as you learn…

I weigh 1X per week on Sat. mornings. My weight loss goal is currently .5 lb.s per week, so I figure I won’t see any progress weighing more often than that, so why stress/depress myself by hopping on the scale obsessively? I suppose if I were less emotional about my weight and could approach the number on the scale more…

It helps that everything I eat these days is what…

So I guess how accurate it is depends on whether my body…

Thanks for your input. It was reading here that caused big red flags to go up in my head w/ my approach & seek advice from those far more knowledgeable than me. I’m very pleased to be making progress, but it’s more important to me to find the healthiest lifestyle I can, if there’s one thing age has taught me it’s that…

Hi all, I have been reading along for the last couple of months & decided to jump in. I retired just over a year ago when I turned 65. I had been planning to move after I finished working and I managed to buy my ‘retirement home’ last fall. Although things have gone pretty much to plan, a few things have not, due to the…
