A vest? I will admit that I never heard of a sleeping vest.

Except for those cold winter nights, I enjoy just boxers. When I wake up, I can jump out of bed and do a quick at home workout.

Sometimes, I will take a week (or two) vacation from this site. When I come back, I feel refreshed and ready to battle MFP.

So true. In the gym, I see so many people bench pressing or doing arm curls for show. Your manual work experience gave you true strenghth for everyday.

Congrats on having a home gym. I find it way more convenient then driving to the gym. Have you gone to the website muscleandstrength? There are great beginner programs and videos.

I agree that you can build strength in 5 months. Have you tried bodyweight exercises or bands? I will do just basic band workouts during commercial breaks and have found that it really helps.
-
I agree that using bands to assist you is probably the best way to achieve a full pullup. If you did find the bands, make sure that it is a clean pull up and that you are not swinging. If you are unable to find bands, I would start by just hanging from the bar. If you don't mind spending a couple of extra dollars, I would…

I used to have several Coke's a day. My doctor said that I had to watch my sugar intake. So i quit cold turkey. The first month was tough. By the second month, I did not even think about having a carbonated beverage.

Holy mackerel! That's a lot of weight you lifted. Congrats on the PR!

12C is cold. brrr. fuzzy PJs are needed

Boxers just in case Dominos randomly comes by.

Thank you everybody for your insight.

Those are all great insightful reasons!

A balance workout is important but I see a lot of people gravitating to bench pressing and not working on others. You are probably correct on your assessment in your last statement.

That is very impressive!

A lot of yoga (gymnastics) positions that I enjoy, the shoulder and back muscles dominate more than the biceps. I did perform a very sloppy and wobbly Crane the other day..but I was only able to hold it for 20 seconds.

Thank you for the article and response.

I agree 100% with you. I am surprised at how many people spend so much energy on bench pressing and ignoring the muscles that they would use during sports.
-
Not only did you improve your health (beyond weight loss), but think of all of the drinking snacks that you skipped, too.
-
ha, the joke is on them because the clothes not only stay wet in the sauna but their clothes capture all of the "aroma" from all of the other people in the gym
-
I bet those people are the same people that are busy texting/playing when the stop light turns green.

Your friends and family must be very impressed with your transformation!!!

My gym won't allow any dropping of weights. Not only is it an annoyance to other people but it is dangerous. Can you imagine the weight dropping and hitting someone's ankle?
-
sorry that you you were getting depressed and unhappy. When you started running again, were you able to mentally improve?
-
You must be proud of your transformation!!!

I have had injuries that have stopped me from doing any leg exercises. I calculated that running a mile is approximately 100 calories. I have adjusted my diet. On the bright side, when I stop running... my cravings have gone down. Have you tried swimming? It is not as fun as running, but it will still keep you active.

All of the personal trainers that hide the most used dumbbells so that their clients can have access. Instead of the gym having a 100 pound dumbbell, why doesn't the gym acquire more 20 to 40 pound dumbbells?

I found starting with a double espresso cappuccino and bowl of cereal does the best. Except on those longer runs, I will skip the cappuccino (more of a reward after completion).
