Hey, @montyeva1114 -- that's 4 less pounds than you used to have, and you could have *gained* that, so you're doing really great!
-
All of you going crazy for super sweet desserts and I'm over here just wanting a giant plate of spaghetti bolognese or a pepperoni pizza, haha.
-
You mean NO fat, or a little is okay? I'm a big fan of eggs at breakfast, but chicken breast has a good protein to fat ratio. You could scramble up some egg whites with chopped chicken breast in it, if it doesn't make you feel squirrelly to have possibly the whole chicken life span on your plate haha.

<raises hand> Lifelong yo-yo dieter here. I only joined MFP to see if that would help me crack this nut. Good luck and strength to you!

If you are a man or a woman, and how tall you are, comes into play when you try to decide what your daily calories should be for less/maintenance/gain.

Almond milk for me; black coffee is too harsh and gives me a stomach ache.

Great! Thank you! Have great weekends, everyone.

Also, if you find a plan that works for YOU, it works, plain and simple. You don't need any fancy expensive shakes or programs. I myself have found that eating a low-carb diet is very beneficial overall, because all my cheat foods are carby and send me tumblin' right off the Healthy Lifestyle Wagon. Other plans work for…

Hi there, Misty. I am 52 and have been a yo-yo dieter since I was in high school -- in the 1980's! Yes: all you need is a calorie deficit. Yes: you should consider a professional nutritionist to advise you along the way (you know like I do that the first week's weight loss is dramatic but is also mostly water and that…

I'm trying to replace "food as reward" with something else, like retail therapy but that gets expensive and I'm not much of a shopper to begin with. So....maybe keeping up with my family on active vacations? But that's only around once a year!
-
Definitely. I've found that the "luckiest" people I know are the ones who actively seek out their successes, not just sit around hoping/praying/buying Lotto tickets. We make our own "luck!" (I mean, with a few specific exceptions like real health scares, winning a scratcher, etc, but I mean as a rule.)

Welcome back! I have been back for three days, myself. Let's do this thing!

This is a fun idea! I have an app (that is NOT FOR EVERYONE because it's definitely very nerdy) called Walk to Mordor. You know, Mordor, from Lord of the Rings? In the app you are basically one of the hobbits walking to Mordor and every time you hit a milestone (like, a couple day ago I hit "Meets the Black Rider,") you…

Maybe you could ask your BF to take a few pics of you with great lighting, cute dress, and then show you her favorite. I bet you'd be pleasantly surprised. I agree that people don't say "have you lost weight?" or "You look great!" as much as they used to. Citation: lifelong yo-yo dieter so I heard it tons in my 20's,…

I love lobster rolls and now use celery to scoop up the lobster salad instead of putting it between two halves of a buttery roll. Less carbs and more fiber, and I don't have to look longingly at lobster rolls anymore!

I'm a "close enough" kind of gal.

Ah, peanut butter is my Waterloo. I’m glad you guys can eat two tablespoons of it and put it away...but I know myself, and I “can’t.” Too many times in my yo-yo diet life, dipping into a jar of Jif Extra Crunchy has been the first step on the path to a weeklong overeating/carb heavy mistake! So sadly, until I learn to…

You look terrific and I can feel your determination coming right out of the second photo! It’s not easy to lose almost 40 pounds; great job.

Love the Dowager! :D For me, Monday is the start of the new week. Sundays are for chillin'.

Hi. This is my first time here since September 23. I fell HARD off the wagon, and I'm pretty disappointed with myself. I hope to turn it around again starting today, but, damn, I prefer eating nachos and pizza with my friends and family over picking at some broiled fish or whatever at a Mexican/Italian joint. What do you…
-
Hmmm...@mamapags I'm paying more attention to keeping my carbs low than my fats, as I am a carboholic (eating steak or bacon never led me to fall off the wagon like a slice of pizza or even a bowl of granola can). So I'd be interested in how to make tasty carbs more resistant no matter the fat content. :D
-
Welllllll....thanks, @MikePTY. But I actually didn't open the app or the website at all. Too much shame, I admit! But if our mfp app is always open, so to speak, but not being accessed actively, it's still counting as a streak?

I think you have New Balance in the UK. When I went there, they had this whole big gizmo that measured not only individual feet but weight distribution and arches, and then I got a couple recommendations. It felt almost medical! :D

There is practically no bar for entry for Nutritionists. I would see a Registered Dietician.

It means basically that you eat less than you use. You eat energy in calories, and you burn energy in calories too -- including while sleeping, as our bodily functions require energy to work. So say that you rest all day and burn 1350 calories. If you eat 1349 calories, you are at a calorie deficit!

Friendly and sassy buddy.

Hi! I didn’t check back here until right now and see that people answered my question; thank you, and I’ll try eating more tofu I guess. I had two “beyond burger” sliders at dinner and even though they plus a couple other things popped me up over my calories for the day, they were really quite tasty and I’ll eat them again…

I’m hoping that more accountability will finally stop my lifelong habit of yo-yo-ing. So I’m also here for you (all of you) for mutual support!
-
You know what helps me, so it might help you? I think of my getting-healthier life in terms of weeks, not days. So, once a week or so, I really go "off the rails." I'm not going to stop going out with girlfriends or to social events, and while there, I just have fun -- and for me, part of that is wine/cocktails, and…

Okay! Thanks, guys. I won't log walking anymore when I have my phone on me. :)
