Welcome back and in a similar boat (no baby lol) but finally getting back into things. This time is really going well because I track ALL calories going in and out, weigh myself daily, and only aim for a slight deficit. I am not going to starve myself nor am I going to binge. One thing I learned this go around is how small…

As others say, those machines are very inaccurate and usually give you generous numbers. What you log in MFP should depend on your goals. If you want to lose weight then you can reduce by half or one third. Even if you're looking to gain or maintain, I would just use the numbers as is or shave a little. It's always good to…

Looking for new friends! Especially if you have a cat as a profile pic! Health goals for now: lose "stubborn" fat and gain muscle (maybe not at the same time, I go back and forth during the week). Approach: Strictly CICO (Calories In Calories Out), track every calorie coming in, mostly ignore calories burned according to…

Totally agree. I eat what I want it's just that I have concrete numbers so I know that my "hunger" is more habit that necessity. The other popular one is intermittent fasting where you basically narrow it to one or two meals within an 8-12 hour window and maintain a fasting state between the rest. This keeps habitual…

I'm using Strong.app for workout routines and Apple Watch's activity tracker and a weight scale that sends stats via bluetooth. Trying to keep it simple and eliminate drudge work while tracking any valuable metric.

Even the show's name is toxic. These "tough love" type reality shows should be banned. What these people need is a positive and supportive environment. If anything they need to be taught that they are awesome just the way they are and the number on the scale is just that. It becomes much better once you shed the emotional…

We all have horrible pics and amazing pics. Trust your heart! You felt awesome, cute, and confident therefore you were! Sometimes you will not compliment someone on "weight" because you deeply care about them. We all know how rocky this journey can be. Why would we sabotage all that hard work by inadvertently triggering…

I know some people get great results from keto. Also some promising studies on health benefits (even for the brain) from a modified Mediterranean-ketogenic diet. I'd post a link showing the guy who did this for great results while traveling around Asia but I'm not sure if that's allowed. I briefly flirted with the idea but…

Quick Update: I survived! lol The tips really came in handy. Drank a large protein shake (pure whey and milk) as a "pre-game". Alternated with alcohol and unsweetened tea. Made sure to load up on salad. But most of all just enjoyed everyone's company. Of course, I scanned the barcode on my beer and racked up some calories…

Dear everyone, Thank you so much for the thoughtful and very very helpful tips! I read every one and took some notes. Now I feel much more confident going in. It's amazing to see all the creative and thoughtful ways people fit this into their lifestyle without killing the "fun" in it. I'm really glad I posted here.

I'm going to just screenshot this and reread this during the party! lol This is an amazing and very practical list!

Thank you for the morale boost! And you go girl! Love the self confidence and assertion. I will remember this.

Closing all three rings on the Apple Watch activity app :D

44 and ready to change. MFP makes it so easy! Add me. Especially if you're in Japan.

Awesome tips! Just what I needed to put it in perspective :)

44M in Japan. Just looking for motivation. I'm not obese by any means but still suffering from a bulk/powerlifting phase gone bad. I gained a tiny bit of muscle for a large pouch that never quite disappears. I've been on a "see food" diet since. I was quite thin for most of my life. If only I could go back and slap myself…
