Lower back pain subsiding slowly. Trying to swim it away.

I swam 3/4 mile, and walked 2.5. My back feels better (than this passed week).

Just 1 hour of strong effort swimming to decompress my lower back. It worked a bit.

I must have pinched a nerve during my last rollerblading escapade. My lower is in excruciating pain. After laying or sitting down, I feel crippled. Swimming provides some temporary relief. Otherwise I can barely move. Some recommend acupuncture. But I’m a biT concerned, having had 2 spine surgeries. Very scary.

Well, this morning I woke up with lots of pain in my quads, in spite of the ice water bath and the CBD cream massage following yesterday’s race. A cold water swim might help, but I’m rethinking weights for today.

I don’t know how to add people as friends directly from these messages. Please help!

I could learn a lot from you, in that I too am trying to lose tons of weight (50 to 75 lbs to be exact). But my routines are the opposite of yours: I do loads of cardio, but hardly any strength. I can’t stay still long enough. I need to move. So I think we could help each other.

I bladed 11 miles in a little over an hour. Then I went home to an Indian dinner feast... There goes my workout!

1 trick, 1 step at a time: start with getting out of your night clothes in the morning before coffee.

I did put on 100 lbs (extra for my frame and height). I’ve since lost 30 of them. So it’s doable both ways, but it takes work. 1 trick that has worked for me so far is to think of the INDISPENSABLE work as fun. My goal is to lose the rest and run a marathon in the next 3 years.

I’m not letting that prospect slow down. The deal was always that at some point we all check out. I’m just gonna have the most fun I can while I still can: swimming, running, walking, hiking, blading, dancing, eating. I want to do it all: cross-country skiing, snowboarding. If you know anyone in need of active…

I did almost 11 miles rollerblading in a little over an hour. I burned 1200 calories in the process. And I was crazily hungry afterwards. Which is always dangerous: it’s easy to overeat and blow the workout after the workout.

I ran 4 miles straight last night, a first in a long time for me. I rollerbladed 6 miles today. Another first as I usually skip days between running and blading. And my body is not aching half as badly as it would in the past. That can mean only 1 thing: I am getting stronger. Tomorrow is a MUST swim day to release the…

1700 meters outdoor pool 53 mins. 1 app says 996 calories burned. Another says 694. Go figure. Swimming was my favorite until I picked up rollerblading again recently. I burn 1/3 more calories for the same amount of time swimming. I have serious back issues (2 spine surgeries),so I mix things up )swimming, blading,…

So I run a 12-minute mile yesterday! A first for me!! This old man feels proud.

The bright side is thaT we have to stay away from family, friends and their piles of food because of COVID. Some of the tricks I learned going through the National Diabetes Foundation’s program at the Y is to keep veggies handy, and hold a glass/bottle of water at parties to keep people from shoving more alcohol into one’s…

I feel 41. I felt 35 well into my early 50s until...my 2nd spine surgery!
-
I realize this post is old. I hope you met your goal. I am still on that same journey. I swim, walk-run and rollerblade. Bayshore, Causeway, Flatwoods, Clearwater, Dunedin, name it: I will travel to encourage and be encouraged.
-
Yes, Tampa Bay! And you also posted on my birthday! I swim, walk-run and rollerblade!

It has helped a lot. Going premium has done wonders for me: almost back to my pre-COVID weight.
