  • Last night I had a really tasty parfait with frozen blueberries, heavy cream, chia seeds, cacao nibs, hemp hearts, and pecans. I love how the heavy cream freezes a bit from proximity to the blueberries. This is my go-to Coldstone Creamery replacement
  • @KaiBurgin Cutting my carb intake back and adding fat has helped me tremendously with my hunger issues. Also, I do a 16:8 time restricted eating window which helped even more by resetting my hunger cues. I used to snack constantly, and I was always thinking about food. Now I forget to eat and have to remind myself.
  • Been operating on a low carb high fat protocol, trying to eat at least mostly clean, for about 6 months. Looking to take my clean eating to the next level, though. Glad to have found this group!
  • @Safari_Gal_ Your menu items rock! I aspire to be as creative and healthy as you!
  • Typical breakfast for me. Bacon, eggs, and some kind of veggie sauteed in the bacon grease. Here I've got okra, but I often do kale, and also sometimes a fermented veggie, like fennel sauerkraut. If I don't feel like cooking up a veggie, I just eat half an avocado with it instead.
  • @cgcrutch nice idea. I'm gonna try this!
  • @conniebug76 just letting you know that skipping breakfast is already part of a healthy protocol, but if it doesn't work for you, then you gotta do what works for you! @baconslave Oh yeah these are super. I have made batches of these for the whole family. I add croutons to bottoms of the ones for the boys, and you can…
  • @herblovinmom that sounds delicious and incredibly healthy. Nice job!!
  • Oh also forgot to mention my favorite side, which is basically any veggie (broccoli, brussel sprouts, zucchini, asparagus) tossed in butter, avocado, or olive oil and a healthy dose of parmesan (think like at least a 1/4 cup for 3 servings) then bake around 12-15 min at 350ish. Pretty flexible for temp, depending on…
  • Some favorites I have made recently: https://www.eazypeazymealz.com/skillet-creamy-tuscan-chicken/ (can reduce sundried tomatoes to save on carbs) https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/247066/parmesan-crusted-pork-chops/ https://www.wholesomeyum.com/recipes/no-bake-key-lime-pie/ (needs to set longer than listed. best to make…
  • @conniebug76 Skipping breakfast fits in perfectly with 16:8 TRE/Intermittent Fasting protocol. Personally, I like my "breakfast" only because I like eggs and bacon, but I don't actually eat it until around 11am. That gives me a perfect 16 hour fast window from 7pm to 11am. There's lots of research to support this easy to…
  • @anglyn1 whole30 sounds like something to try. I might try cutting out dairy temporarily and see what happens. Tho if that’s what’s bothering me, I’ll cry for a year. I love cheese so much. @herblovinmom i know, they’re such a pain. I think that’s what I’ll do, just cut out dairy for a bit. Then something else.
  • @herblovinmom You are right. I just need to find out which ones, which means I need to start an elimination diet. I have been putting this off, but now is the time. I am also unsure if it IS inflammation that is causing my pain. Things have been so bad lately, though, that I need to try something.
  • @herblovinmom me too! I haven't cut grains out entirely yet. But I don't eat them often. My pain is still pretty bad. I expected more of reduction. Considering moving more towards an anti-inflammatory diet, but it is so restrictive. I don't know that I am ready for that yet.
  • Ribeye. This thread made me mega hungry.
  • I use full fat fairlife milk. Half the sugar of regular milk. Great in smoothies and coffee. I don't usually drink a glass of milk, but I will put 4 oz or so in a smoothie.
  • Now vs July 2018.
  • Tried on a non-plus-sized Michael Kors ladies down jacket this weekend. It was an XL. It fit a bit snug but zippered right up. I didn't buy it because I live in Florida. But... I see non-plus-sized clothing in my immediate future!
  • My Thanksgiving NSV: I made my own less-carb sides for Thanksgiving dinner at a friends. Acorn squash and cauliflower mash. Had my turkey and sides, skipped the rest, skipped the wine, and skipped the pies. Too stuffed to move! Last year I woulda eaten all the things and then some. I would’ve snacked all day on chips and…
  • @Jamie2663 this happened to me the other day too. At first I was offended, like, I thought we were better friends and it hadn’t been but a year, but then I realized it was because I look so much different. 🤦🏻‍♀️
  • @canadjineh all the people on this thread reading your idea be like:
  • My favorite dress is now my more favoriter dress.
  • 2 NSV's this weekend: I walked a 5k on Saturday in under an hour. I painted my toenails myself yesterday. And I didn't even have to hold my breath while I did it.
  • I personally do not add spices to my diary because I figure the calorie count of spices is generally within the margin of error window for imprecise measuring (I don't use a food scale) and ingredient label errors, especially since MFP seems to round down on macros (at least it looks that way). Since I have a tendency…
  • I love that idea, @canadjineh !! Gonna try it.
  • Great info @gwendyprism. For me, I have a hard time hitting a minimum calories for the day without adding fat. But I’m finding, anecdotally, what you said seems to work for me. I usually go over on protein without trying. I’m glad to know this isn’t too much of an issue.
  • @weatherking2019 thanks for the tip! I will look for that
  • @ucbycindy You can do it! I am cheering for you. Kudos for recommitting yourself. @tcunbeliever had some great suggestions. I am a big fan of bulk meal prep. I buy the glad storage containers in the 25oz entree size cuz they are cheap and stack well in the fridge. I find when the meals are split up into individual…
  • @FrecklePatch Oh yeah it is! You've inspired me to pull out some of my old vegetarian recipes. I make this fantastic vegan curry stew, but it is low in protein and fat. I am going to try making it with some vegan protein powder and maybe coconut oil? blended in.
  • Agree on full fat dairy. Skim milk is basically sugar water that doesn't fill you up, IMHO. I'm a half & half junkie. I put it on everything.
