Just caught up on a week of posts. Lots to reply to but mostly sending hugs and advice to @shorepine. Two tips from my dealings with toxic in-laws: 1) No News channels. Everyone has some kind of access and they are welcome to go to their guest house and access it. And if they don’t get WiFi/ service, they will have to make…

@shorepine I also love oysters but I have never tried them BBQ/grilled. I’ll have to see if I can find them on Cape Cod when we go. I think it’s great that you can get away for camping. These moments are what we will look back on in winter, so Enjoy something around a campfire. @chocolate_owl Finding stress relief tactics…

Hi all! I fell off the radar for a week and just now catching up. Thanks to a few months hanging around here, when faced with family drama this past week, I kept the drinking to Less. I bought six bottles of wine on Sunday and only drank about half of one. A rose this time from Wolffer Estate in a pretty bottle. (Will try…

Just a gin and diet tonic, then switched to sparkling water. My book club didn’t even know I switched. 😉 Happy Friday Night

Woke up with a headache. Was it that wine? Is it the weather? Was it the shrimp snack at 10pm? No matter, it’s the kick I need to back off alcohol (and the bad food choices I make).

Love when a “little tropical storm” decides to knock out a state. We lost power for 2 days, but the expectation was 5-7 days. We bought ice, dumped food, and planned specifically how to use up what would go first. I was fine with it, my kid read a few books, and my DH was an anxious mess. I had a planned Wine & Whine…

@shorepine Sounds like a great day. I know that “afternoon beer in hot weather” feeling and Hate it. I’m keeping Brooklyn Special Effects AF on hand for those moments. For those of you who can find NYS wines, this one is definitely worth it. Wolffer Estate is on Long Island. Beautiful bottle and refreshing rose with…

I have a new symbol of Less Alcohol. I opened this and just had a glass. Then stopped. I can’t remember the last time I had a wine bottle that looked this full at the end of the night.

I’m here. Started the month with gardening with both husband and son. Great to get outside and accomplish something together. I stayed motivated to tackle some backyard weeds too. I went to the store and stocked up on AF beer, lo-cal IPA beer, ginger beer, cranberry juice, and seltzers. I’m ready to take on this month!

I’m trying to be happy with weight going two steps forward and one step back. I can see it’s related to eating, which is often related to drinking. And too hot to do much yard work (my go-to exercise). But sun’s coming up and I’ll try again. Thought you all might like this quote I have around from Mary Anne Radmacher:…

@mainelylisa I LOVE this Coping Triangle... Shopping, drinking, eating. Opened a good bottle last night to watch Hamilton (finally) with DH. I forgot my plan to alternate wine and water. Maybe bc the wine Really was good? Anyway, half a bottle of wine gone. Moderation not so much, but I plan to stretch out the rest of the…

@dawnbgethealthy Ranting right alongside you 😒😠

Well I found a new reason to not drink over the past few nights-I’ve been trying to see the comet here in the NE about an hour or two after sunset. Which means driving out of our suburb at 10pm to go to the community garden. Finally had clear skies...and discovered we still can’t see it bc of the local area lights. It was…

If you all don’t mind a 56 yr old, I’d like to join a group of female cheerleaders! I log daily and comment most days. I’ve lost 25 pounds since December and have kind of lost my steam to keep going.

@dawnbgethealthy Love the black hollyhocks, and all the other pictures too. Raspberry Rustic Tart turned out great and it’s almost gone already. And, no poison ivy!

@Doxmum Thanks for the IPA suggestion. We are heading into a heat wave and that means ice cold beer for me. Thanks to all of you for the encouragement. I’ve been AF since my major tumble midweek. Even at last night’s virtual book club! A few women were even envious of my ginger beer and cranberry pomegranate juice 🥤 in a…

@FeelinFooFoo Thank you for your honesty. I fall into the same trap of being harder on myself than anyone else. I am surprised that I seem to accept that this thread allows me to share fully. I ended up drinking a bottle of wine last night. It started with a few glasses of cheap stuff to finish off. And then I opened a…

@forestdweller1 I had to chuckle when you mentioned dinner being nothing worth opening a bottle of wine for. I’ve been buying more expensive bottles ($15-20) so I actually enjoy each glass and I don’t open it just because it’s habit. I picked up a selection of low-cal/carb IPA beers. I was looking for AF and didn’t even…

@forestdweller1 great idea... Happy Birthday @RubyRed427 !! I'll be singing to YOU as I wash my hands today.

Cat and plants. And my apologies ahead of time if they post sideways :)

First day back in the public library for work. Stressed about how it would go, but luckily it went pretty smoothly. Celebrated with a good gin and tonic. Then switched to a grapefruit sparkling water. Refreshing and avoiding excess calories and snacking. Good Monday!

I love fireworks and because I try and see them in person, that means I’m usually driving and so no alcohol. Tonight I can only watch them on TV. I’m sure I’ll drink, but I guess I don’t need to start quite yet. Maybe a ginger beer and cranberry for happy hour? Please celebrate safely! 🇺🇸🎇
