I have a major sweet-tooth and I love to bake! We can't bring goodies into work to share anymore, though. Luckily I just found a neighborhood family with two teens and two full-time working parents who would LOVE donations of sweets anytime. This has helped me do something I enjoy and still maintain. (I lost 30lb in the…

@MissMay yeah for being stronger than the urge @dennis7174 welcome! I’m pretty new here and mostly lurk, but find this a great place to stop and ponder what I really want. No plans to be AF, but just want to make choices. Not pour another glass of wine because it’s habit. Thanks for all the support and advice. No wine last…

@mainelylisa Love the cabin and the snow! You are living my dream. Can I retire there in about 15 years??😉 Poured the second glass of Pinot noir and saw “just a little bit more” in the bottle. So added that to my glass. So now I’m back to finishing a bottle in two days. Ugh. This is what I was doing when I found you all.…

This COVID-19 spike has freaked me out—not sure why but I am honoring where I am and what I’m feeling. So, I placed my first grocery shopping order this morning, for pickup Tues 5pm. The craziness of regular Thanksgiving shopping and my sudden true anxiety about Covid combined. My husband at first said he’d go, but when he…

@MissMay I’ve got one of those pear trees, and a bunch of pin oaks which will finally fall in...January!? @CMB44512 Welcome! We all follow our own path. I’m a 6-month newbie here and I’ve found support to simply make my own choices intentionally, drink by drink, day by day. My success this weekend-I’m watching football 🏈…

@dawnbgethealthy Thanks for the snow pictures! Share them anytime. I grew up in the’70s in Upstate NY with lake effect snow. I love ❄️☃️❄️ snow!! Trying to imagine a retirement area with snow, but someone else doing the shoveling 😁

Reaching for my 3rd beer and paused to read a few posts here. Thanks. I’m done for the night.

Just want to toss it out there...I never count. I really stick with just making one choice at a time. That has led to adding more water into my evenings. It means I now have some ingredients for mocktails, low-cal and AF beer options. Having options for better choices has led to “less”. This group is casual and always…

@chocolate_owl Join us if you’d like. I do a lot more lurking than posting. I get inspired just by reading of others’ adventures. I’ve stopped feeling guilty at not replying to everyone’s stories. Just going with the flow and found a good place to vent when needed.

I’m in with @MissMay ... If You hit your goals @globalhiker, I go shopping! (Although after cleaning out that woman’s house yesterday, who was a serious QVC fan, I don’t need more stuff😂)

Long-time friends are rare because I’ve moved all over the country (8 states in 30 years). I spent yesterday with my freshman year college BFF, cleaning out her MIL’S house. Quite the work out and a bit sore today. But SO worth it. I don’t mind doing physical work if I’m accomplishing something (yard, garden, helping out…

@shorepine waiting for kitten pictures and kitten name. My animals settled together last night. If it weren’t 2020, I would say that was unusual. But it doesn’t even move the needle on the odd-scale for this year!😁

Came home after work and then a long grocery shopping trip and proceeded to drink a glass of red wine. Which of course required snacks like Trader Joe’s Inner Peas and some Oreos. NOW my DH is cooking a healthy dinner but I’m only interested in junk food. Once I open the junk food “door”, it’s hard to close it. ☹️

Last minute offer to help the food bank by picking corn. Nice to stretch and use muscles doing something useful. And those are a few of our carrots-never has success before!

Just caught up on you all...scrapple, head cheese, and more. I grew up with this stuff too, and actually remember liking cow’s tongue. Hugs and strength for all the health issues, but glad we seem to be keeping Covid at bay. DH is a heavy drinker. Focusing on moderation and even having AF beer and mocktails are things he…

DH made fresh salsa verde, which required a beer. Glad to open my Dogfish lo-cal and follow it with a Brooklyn AF beer. I will need to get my 6-pack if October beers though, before they disappear. Thanks the the thoughts on “sober”. I too always thought I would not ever belong to that club. But sober-ish, a drink sometimes…

@dawnbgethealthy lugging in the key lime wouldn’t be too bad if I didn’t have to carry it up 3 steps! Then I put it on a little roller and I crawl/push it across the carpet. My own mini-workout 💪😂 When we kept it on the patio, so no steps/even with the house, the wind would blow it off the edge! Dang...now I want a gin and…

I started the talk of beets. I love them and had success growing them this year. This recipe has the beets, beet greens, and blue cheese. I’ll try them grated! The key lime tree is outside in the summer and inside during the winter. We live in NJ😁. Started it 5 years ago from a nursery as a small twig on a transplant root.…

It's taken me a couple of days of feeling lousy during the past few weeks to connect the dots....If I drink 3 (or more) glasses of wine in an evening, I will feel lethargic and headachy the next day (i.e., hungover). I used to think of hangover as that college-inspired time, tossing my cookies and room spinning and…

@sweetdianachka Like your Amazon post! I need to share it with a friend who doesn’t want to start losing weight because it will take too long!

@mainelylisa you wanted a darker and twistier book? “Mexican Gothic” is a new release that I had to stop reading as I didn’t know it was going to get so creepy. “A Nearly Normal Family” isn’t really darker, but definitely some twists. And my final suggestion is anything by Lisa Scottoline for lots of twists. I don’t read…

And on this note: by @dawnbgethealthy "Oh, I got hearing aids this morning! Argh, I can now hear my thighs rubbing together!! Ack" THANKS I totally spit my glug of morning coffee across the room when I read this. Almost did the same thing!! Love these morning chuckles. @chocolate_owl we promise to keep socially distant…

@TerriRichardson112 Your flower post is beautiful and tech creative. I can’t seem to always get my photos to upload right! Thought I’d share my recent favorite quote from Cicero: “If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.” Have a good day everyone! ~ Samand

Love this thread. Need the positivity! I’m just sitting on my deck, trying to get motivated for some more yard work. I’m taking refuge in flowers and garden today. Here is a picture from our herb garden - chives in bloom and full of bees and butterflies. ~ Samand
