I did switch to black coffee to have less dairy in my diet and also cut calories. For about a week ir so it tasted bitter. Then as time went by...delicious. Now I do not like the taste of coffee with milk or cream. I would suggest you try medium roast coffee, not dark roast and give it some time.

Thanks. Interesting debate. I use MFP, eat 1200 to 1400 perday, and no weight loss. I have talked to 2 doctors, and 1 nutritionist. Nutritionist was not helpful, she was following an out dated pyramid. Both doctors told me i can't just use CICO...because its not working for ME. i will stick to the low refined carb track…

We should all have a health care provider we like and trust. It took me many years to find someone who cares about my health, listens, etc. I encourage you to find a health care provider. Now you can read reviews online. Good luck.

I tried CICO and i tracked my food on MFP. I did not lose any weight. My Dr. Advised eliminating/reducing things made with flour, bread, rice, pasta, sugar, less dairy, etc. Modified paleo. I am eating the same calories, but now i am losing weight.

I love avocado with just balsamic vinegar and a little olive oil. Yum.

I have lost weight limiting refined carbs. Fruits and veggies are carbs. They are good for you. Limit bread, pasta, rice, and other grains. So...refined carbs, processed carbs are out. Sugar added to foods is out. You will be fine and lose weight.

I am 69 and 5.3 and weighed 167. Eating 1200 to 1400 per day. Moderste exercise. I have been stuck at 167 give or take for a year. I just switched to paleo and in 2 days i lost 2 pounds. 165 now. I hope its a sign of change.

Thanks to all for your insights. I do agree that if i lose the weight the GERD will be lessened. I will try to figure out trigger foods. I have been studying the low FODMAP Approach. I dont eat anything on the hit list for GERD, eg coffee, soda, chocolate, etc.

A nutritionist told me plant or cow based in the coffee. No fake food.

Don't think about the past. You deserve a bright, healthy future. Don't ruminate. Every time a negative thought comes in, banish it...step on it with a positive thought. Every day is a new day. Forget the past. Consider getting some positive affirmation recordings. Maybe your library has some.
