I used a thin pair, and after the halfway mark only my left index finger was still frozen, the rest were fine! I think I suffer a very mild form of Reynaud’s syndrome, as my right middle finger will briefly turn white when I’m driving for no apparent reason - and yet I’m the only person I know who keeps a pair of gloves in…

@ecpetrik, you’re not alone! Anyone else care to share their Kryptonite, and (more importantly) ways to deal with it?

Are you Android or iOS? I have a Garmin Connect , and use Healthkeep scales/app, and I connect them all to MFP via the iPhone Health app. You need to allow the right read/write settings - if you need help with this I can post images.

Take heart, and as @springlering62 said, you may have gained a little but you are still at a net loss: don’t give up on yourself - this shizzle is tough! If it was easy, MFP wouldn’t exist and we wouldn’t all be here. Maintaining weight loss is about finding ways to navigate between what we WANT and what we NEED… and if it…

If it’s a recipe that you will eventually eat all of, dividing it into X servings should be fine - it will average out over the X servings you eat. I do this with things my husband cooks because he religiously follows the recipe but doesn’t weigh the finished product(s). @AnnPT77 uses impeccable maths, and would be the…

Well, I finally got out for my first run of the year… the dark, cold, wet days so far have not exactly been encouraging! On Wednesday mornings I do yoga before work and rush back to log on, so today I was still in my kit at lunchtime: I didn’t allow myself time to think about it so I was outside and on an easy 30min run…

I am sure the other regular forum folks will be along shortly with their pearls of wisdom and helpful links, but rest assured you absolutely don’t need to ‘go to the gym’ if you don’t want to (I don’t like the gym either!). You can lose weight successfully just by walking and cycling (as many others here will testify to),…

Hello everyone! Happy New Year! My main goal is to get out for 3 runs a week and just enjoy them… I’ve got a ski holiday booked in the last week of January, so keeping injury-free is my priority this month!

I was catching up on reading all the posts I missed, then realised I had better post my pathetic December mileage before midnight… all of 5.33 miles/8.57k on two runs (the 26th and today). Knee/hip now seem fully recovered from whatever happened back in November (still a mystery), happy to be back. See you all in the…

Could I suggest we then insert the ‘averages’ section into a spoiler, so as to cut the page sizes down a bit?

One thread for the year will work just fine, I think? Posting here keeps me accountable!

Lost the weight I wanted to lose by using MFP monitoring calories in/calories out, and as I continued into maintenance I still eat all the same things - just a little more of it, with a bit more alcohol and the occasional special treat. The beauty of this method is that I rarely (feel the need to) overindulge. In fact, for…

@chris_in_cal, if you’re lurking, it is nice to see your activity on Garmin… we’ve been worried about you ❤️

I do agree… from personal experience, on previous ‘weight loss attempts’ I did tge hard work and arrived at ‘goal’, but then I stopped logging… and went right back to the eating habits of old, and gained it all back. Three times. This time, it felt different. I wasn’t losing weight for a special occasion or an ‘end date’:…

Don’t panic. You know you have all the tools to get back on track, right? What rate did you lose at last year, and how long did that take? You did it before and you can do it again. I think you just need to get back into the right mindset: maybe look back at your logged entries from last year and pick your favourite recipe…

The plan only has one ‘long’ run per week, and it jumped from 2 miles to 4 miles this week - a 100% increase! - so while mentally I was ready, (apparently) I don’t think I was necessarily physically ready? The drills and long runs this far haven’t exceeded 1.5 miles in 4 weeks. Coach Greg’s plan increased by time, so my…

I made a terrible hash of it - I was either going too fast or too slow, but Garmin still awarded me a ‘Good Job’ though. I would like to blame the trees for interfering with GPS (probably…

Well done!! Thank you for sharing your journey so far. I hope the new people landing here at MFP will read this, and get some ideas and take heed from your experience. Slow and steady wins the battle! We’re all rooting for you!

This ‘detox’ thing pops up every so often. The ‘toxic’ things the general population ingests too much of include sweets (candy), fizzy sugary drinks, and ultra-processed foods: swapping out a lemon-honey drink for those is a better alternative, for sure. Probably better without the honey (pure sugar) and the lemon, but if…

Welcome to MFP! I think we need more info. What have you tried so far? What exercise do you do? Is it excess fat, or loose skin, or a bit of both? Is it post-partum, or a beer belly, or the normal run-of-the-mill kind that keeps your pyjamas from falling down? Gender, age, genetics and hormones are big factors, but posture…
