  • I’m wondering when I should stop my bulk and begin cutting. Any advice? 37, F, lifting for less than a year. Started eating around 400-500 above maintenance in April, so 5 months. Gains were slow the first couple of months until I cut back cardio, added creatine, and started lifting 5 days instead of 6… and then I…
  • 45% carbs, 30% fat, 25% protein. 2400 calories (eating in a surplus since hypertrophy is my goal). I normally need 1-2 protein shakes and a protein bar per day to hit my protein goal, but I’m vegan. If I make the effort to hit the protein, the other two tend to fall into place on their own.
  • Thank you for this! I appreciate the advice & encouragement. I did my push day after posting and definitely was struggling to lift the same I did before my break. Going to take your advice and hopefully get back to where I was pretty soon.
  • I highly recommend looking for a workout program to follow. Check out the post titled “Most Helpful Posts - Fitness and Exercise (Must Reads)” at the top of the forum, and then click on “Which lifting program is the best for you?” (Sorry, I don’t know how to link to it.) You will get much better results following a program…
  • I’ve been vegan for six years, and went vegan literally overnight after only two months as a vegetarian. Feel free to send me a friend request if you want to look at my diary for food ideas! Also happy to message with you if you have any questions. Favorite accounts to follow are Minimalist Baker (not 100% vegan recipes…
  • Leg day, ugh. I got my second dose of the vaccine on Thursday and I should have taken today off, but I pushed through. Dumbell squats RDLs Hip thrusts Bulgarian split squats 1-leg box squats Calf raises Wall sits 25 minute LISS on my stationary bike Time for a nap.
  • A few things at play here. 1. Addiction of any kind is a contentious subject, with many people looking down on addicts and viewing addiction as a moral failing or a weakness instead of an illness. 2. Many people who wouldn’t describe themselves as food addicts (and probably aren’t) have problematic relationships with food…
  • Entitled, 100%. I’m recovered from an ED. My triggers are my responsibility and mine alone. I do think “diet culture” can be harmful, but this wasn’t even an example of that. In addition to all of the above, imagine being a celebrity and using your platform to bash a small business.. during a pandemic.. without even…
  • It depends on the day. I’m usually eating back most of my calories burned. It’s anywhere between 1800 and 2100, depending on my activity level that day. But I’ve only been eating back the calories for a couple weeks. No weight gain so far but I feel better in general. I had previously been eating closer to 1600.
  • Thank you so much! Can’t even tell you how helpful this is. I had my doubts that IF was the fat-burning magic solution it’s advertised as being, but figured it wouldn’t hurt and I’d just stop if I was losing weight. Re: your first question, FitBit recorded the -600 calories for my workout only based on my heart rate during…
  • Sorry, I was unclear - it is saying the combined lifting and cardio adds up to 600 calories. I used stationery bike, moderate pace from the database.
  • I’m a couple weeks into IF, and the hardest part for you is my FAVORITE part, lol. I love breaking my fast, and then getting to eat again an hour later.. and the feeling that I’m constantly eating. :D The hardest part for me is not snacking at all at night (my eating window is 11:30 am - 7:30 pm). I miss dessert!
  • Thanks for the reply! I had to Google recomp, and yes that’s been my goal. I wonder if it’d be better/faster for me to be in a surplus and cut later on. Do you have any thoughts on the accuracy of calories burned according to this app? Seems high to me but I don’t know how else to calculate and don’t know how to make sure…
