Unfortunately, I have gained 15 pounds, in 4 months. It was so discouraging I abandoned logging here in MFP . However, in terms of what is going to mess my health up, there is no question that the smoking, not the weight, is the bigger issue. My therapist and I have agreed that my goal should be to maintain where I am now…

Also started for me on Monday. The only day it has attempted to sync it credited me with about 800 more calories from exercise than I was entitled to. Won't sync steps at all as of yesterday. I do hope MFP is on this!

I love my NYDJ (Not Your Daughter's Jeans) - extremely durable denim and high quality construction. Comes in the size gamut from 0 to 28. I previously wore their size 18 women's at 250 pounds and now, 42 pounds lighter, wear a women's 16. I have to wear "skinny jeans" because my midsection is disproportionately big…

It's nothing compared to most folks, but yesterday on my 1/2 hour walk, I spontaneously started jogging twice, for a minute each time (0.1/mile). Superficially, it seems a total nothingburger but but then I am reminded that (1) when this happened for the first time last week, I was able to jog only 30 seconds at a time;…

What an inspiring journey! Congratulations - I just know you will meet your goal.

Just under 2 months. Deliberately went slowly with reduction in calories and increase in physical activity. To me, since I really do want the weight loss to be permanent this time, I remind myself that if it took me years to put the excess weight on, I shouldn't be sussed about it taking a year or two to take it off and…

Inspiring journey! I'm close to your height and by the time my journey ends I too will have lost 1/2 my original weight! (Still have a long way to go.) Congratulations!

Amazing job!! Congratulate yourself and celebrate your incredible accomplishment!

Amazing result! I started at A1C at 6.7 and glucose 138 just 6 months ago, low compared to many who have commented, but when I had my blood work done in June, it had already dropped to A1C 6.4 and blood glucose at 106, at only a 20 pound weight loss! I was thrilled and TBH that, more than anything else, has been what has…

Almost 60 years, old, at 5'3. HW: 267; CW: 233.5; GW: 150. I was 260.1 when I started this journey in March and it's been slow and steady. As I posted the other day in this forum, I feel that this is a real success given where I started since I lost the weight this time not through "dieting" or following any particular…

Mine pays honor to a fabulous reggae band from the 1970's.

Welcome!

At about 2:00 PM I looked at my Fitbit and realized that I had only done 2600 steps the entire day. Not sure what happened, but the next thing I knew, the sneakers were on, I was out the door, and 45 quite enjoyable and fast-passing minutes later I'd not only crushed my 6500 step/day minimum but had walked almost 2.5…

I don't mind at all! I too hope to be free from all these dang meds =)

Excellent commitment - and Happy Birthday!

Sure thing! Just friend me because I can't figure it out on this phone app lol!

Congratulations on the great loss! And thanks for the kind feedback!

I haven't found the answers for myself yet. The amount of droopy skin I have on my abdomen (and below it) and on the inside of my arms and thighs from just a 25 pound weight loss (with lots more to go) is depressing and discouraging to me, too. Not to mention that the hanging skin also results in just...yuck. I have to…

I've eaten on salad plates ever since I started this journey in March. It really is a mind-fake out and works! Plus, as long as I eat only what can fit on the plate on a single layer (no piles LOL) I don't overeat.

Having what I really craved eating - fried chicken and mac and cheese. Hadn't had either in months. Whereas before I started this new weight-loss journey, I probably would have had had multiple pieces of chicken and a way-too big serving of the mac, because I ate all my veggies first I ended up having only ONE piece and…

Thank you so much for sharing your story, and your journey. You have demonstrated strength, resilience and commitment. All of those are not just crucial for weight loss, but for addressing trauma as well. I am glad you are working with a therapist on that, because it will also help you give yourself grace. Blessings to you…

Incredible, inspirational, insights. I shared today's blog entry with my husband, to help us through our own conversation. Thank you for being so generous with yourself - and congratulations on your amazing journey!

5 pounds to go to my first mini-goal: 10% of my starting weight by my birthday in 2 months! (From 260 to 234). Fingers crossed!

What games are you into? MMORPGs? Telephone games? PvP? Something else? I've been a gamer since the 1990s!

I would join but I'm leaving my 50's in 2 months =) So since y'all are middle age (especially all you still lucky enough to be in your 30's) am I just old? :D

Hi, Jess! My hubby is from Perth! I love Oz =)

Yes, please!

Answering the original question - yes, folks were thinner in the 70's and 80's. But all you have to do is look at a few differences in how people lived: (a) meals prepared by others -- fast food in particular -- were way smaller than they are now; today, a much bigger percentage of people's meals are prepared by others…

The same thing happened to both Tyra Banks and Rihanna. Both went from too-thin to pleasingly plump - and both were ripped apart for becoming fat. Both women have written about how that criticism affected them. Fortunately, both focused on their health and said F the haters.
