  • I thought this was an interesting article. After a long calorie deficit your body thinks you're in a state of famine and it adjusts to your calorie intake. Up your calorie goals and just benefit from exercise. http://weightoftheevidence.blogspot.ca/2006/02/getting-calorie-intake-right-for.html
  • Thanks for posting. Love the site!
  • I hear ya! I used to give good answers too, but it saddened me to hear such ignorant responses. I avoid telling people I am vegetarian unless they really must know. I am proud to be vegetarian, but tired of explaining myself to people who are not open minded. We are healthy, compassionate and doing good for the environment…
  • I love any kind of dessert! MFP has helped me stay in control after seeing most calories are not worth it. I've started baking my own healthy muffins which have just enough sweetness but not too much! I've also been eating more naturally sweet foods like medjool dates which are like nature's candy (they also come coated in…
  • Mad Men, The Walking Dead, Dexter, American Horror Story. Apparently I like morbid shows.
  • I lost 25lbs in one year and fell off the wagon around the holidays. Had to lose a few and now stuck at the weight I was before the holidays!
  • I do not have high blood pressure, but have you looked into Kefir (fermented milk drink)? I recently discovered that is has many healthy benefits and remember reading that it helps with high blood pressure. It is very high in probiotics.
  • I had a gym membership for 1 year and lost 12lbs. I did not renew the membership and bought an exercise bike instead. At the same time I also discovered Myfitnesspal so I have been eating better. It has been 6 months since I got the bike and I have already lost another 12lbs. I also do yoga at home with videos. There are…
  • Exact same for me! I was probably way too young to be exercising but my friends and I thought my mom's Richard Simmons VHS tape was hilarious so we'd pop it in after school and it seemed more like a comedy/dancing video!
  • You are not alone. Lots of good replies on here. What helps me is listening to Eckhart Tolle audiobooks/seminars on my headphones. You may have heard of him on Oprah and his book Power of Now. It really helps to clear my head and see the big picture, to be grateful and live in the moment and realize what makes you upset…
  • I'm in Ottawa :)
  • Somehow I have the same weird habits as both of you!!! I also eat slowly to savour something that I like.
  • My favourite source for inspiration is the Foodgawker website (there's an app too). They have healthy recipes on there too, but if I see something not so healthy, I just make modifications :)
  • Fellow vegetarians can add me as well :) I've been vegetarian for 15 years and now learning to balance my calories while still getting all the nutrients.
  • I don't see how it could be bad. I'm guessing you are talking about the ad that was posted on the site. They are probably trying to sell something! On another note, I have started using stevia to sweeten my coffee.
