My kryptonite is carbs. I can manage my sweet tooth, but carbs sing a siren song

Hi Brandy. I know what you mean about middle age although I am maybe a little past middle age since I will be 50. Things definitely have changed. Any freedom we had to be careless with food and drink, well it comes back and bites us hard now. I had great success on MFP years ago but I ended up leaving and gaining my weight…

Hi there. I just rejoined after being a member several years ago. I had quite a bit of success back then but the past couple of years with covid have not been kind. I turn 50 later this year and I know my doctor will likely not have excellent news for me. So my focus is on getting healthy and getting back to where I was…

Great job. It is just a start and more success is sure to follow. Stay the course!

I feel ya on the stress and the weight gain due to covid. I just rejoined after being off a few years. The years I was on was very positive because I lost a lot of weight and made some good friends along the way. I am trying to refocus because I too am at the highest weight I have been. You got this!

Hi Kayla. Sounds like you are definitely on the right track given what you shared. There are always those ups and downs. I had been on MFP years ago and had some great success but then I took the community and support for granted and thought I was good to be on my own. Well I am paying for it now. I am older and married -…

I am about to exit my 40s and enter the 50s so not sure if I count. I had some great success in the past on MFP but the past few years plus covid has really set me back. I am slowing getting back into moving everyday and making more of an effort. If you are looking for friends to add to your support network, feel free to…

Our past weight and eating issues are comparable. And I am also close to turning 50. I will take a listen to the podcast... always looking for something good. I just rejoined MFP after being absent for 5 years and those years have not been kind and covid did not help. Long road ahead but looking to take steady and…

This is one of those questions that a guy can easily put foot in mouth even if not flexible. The best way I can describe the physique I always gravitated two was an athletic cross between a softball and field hockey player. Strong and balanced.

Ann/Retroguy/cwolfman.... Thanks for your insight and encouragement. Crazy how quickly gains are lost and how hard it is to get back the gains. I am working on getting my mind right and taking it one step at a time. I will definitely look into the articles and apps you all mentioned. All the best!

I have taken a very similar path. Several years ago I lost a huge amount of weight and I felt like I was in my 20s again even though I was mid=40s. Now I am about to turn 50 and I feel like I am 70. I have not started to log food completely yet, but I am getting my mind right and will do so soon. In the meantime I focus on…

I now the feeling. Taking the first step is huge. I have taken many first steps. Get it done!

Hi. The walking trip across Spain sounds like it was a "hoot"... :-) I turn 50 before the end of the year and I feel the same way.... that is why wait for the New Year. I was on MFP years ago and had great success. But I slowly slipped into old habits and then covid and it was a perfect storm of doing nothing and feeling…

Hi. I am returning with hopes to getting back to where I had been in the past especially since I am turning 50 before the end of the year. Support to keep you motivated is key. Get it done!

A start is always positive. I am back after multiple years and hope to get back on track. I have been a yo-yo for years and as I get older, it is just too much. Best of luck on your journey.

Good luck with your goals! I have recently come back to MFP. I had a lot of success in the past and hope to get things back in line. Also turning 50 this year and trying to get past the aches and pains that I am starting to feel. Be well!
