I haven't seen that video.

Grilled chicken, whole natural almonds, cheese, etc.

I ate my absolute minimum yesterday and lost 2 lbs from yesterday to today. I don't think I should do that when I exercise, but I just want a more accurate exercise total. My minimum is 1200. I am small (5'3 and under 150.) I think I may have been overrating because of MFP exercise total. I have maintained for two weeks.

Not disappointing that I don't need it, just disappointing that they don't work.

Thanks for all the info. That is disappointing. :(

I guess we will have to agree to disagree. I believe that hormones, stress, sleep issues, and medical conditions will cause stubborn weight loss. I do not believe a calorie deficit is the end all be all of weight loss. I appreciate the advice, because it comes from a good place. I just have a feeling it is not what is…

I eat anywhere from 1200-1600 calories a day. I try not to eat all exercise calories, as I never know if they are accurate. A person my height should eat 1850 to maintain. I am never close to that and exercise on top of it. I understand that weight loss is based on calorie deficit, but I just do not believe it is THE ONLY…

I am eating way less than maintenance, using food scale and measuring cups/spoons. It is very frustrating.

"That and more" ^^ typo

Now I am receiving more helpful posts on the other thread . :)

Thanks for all of the serious and helpful responses. It is much appreciated.

Perhaps I am being too sensitive. However, the upsetting part was the people telling me over and over again that my plan didn't work because I didn't stick with it. No, it worked. I just didn't stay with it. Or, the people calling cycling a fad diet, saying it was just another thing I wasn't going to be able to maintain.…

Yay! Great. I will be looking for the more positive energy .

Seriously people! Knowing and doing are two different things. I could have easily chosen to sustain my eating habits. I didn't do it. I didn't want to. There, I said it. I didn't want to. Now I do. Just because someone gains some back does not make the program a failure. The person may have failed at the program. The plan…

"Your diets failed because you didn't learn how to sustain your diet change. But instead of trying to do something that is actually sustainable for once, you try and follow some random diet you've found on a diet website... again." Actually, I did learn to maintain and sustain my diet changes. I just didn't do it. Life got…

I do appreciate all the responses. I do have to say I feel a lot of people here are quick to judge or don't read all the information given. I am a bit disappointed about that. I assumed most would be encouraging. Thanks for those that were. I used a cycle from the free dieting website, none of which include a fasting day…

My question was about the calorie cycle calories I am using. Not about calorie cycling itself. I guess I didn't make that clear.

Wow! So interesting. I have used and read a ton about calorie cycling/zig zagging. It has always worked for me to break plateaus. Interesting that people are so against it. It has worked for me and I feel there is science behind it.
-
I also feel cycling is far more sustainable than 1200 a day which is what MFP was suggesting!
-
Exactly. Same calorie number for the week, just varying how much per day to shake up the metabolism. As far as the age thing, I was assuming at 35, with the inevitable loss of muscle mass, that could be affecting the metabolism. Luckily, I am sticking to a strength training regimen and have toned a lot. Hopefully this will…

Why would you consider calorie cycling a fad diet? It is a calorie deficit with healthy habits.
-
When I lost 8.5 lbs in a week I was following Weight Watchers. Healthy eating, I promise. It was just water, I am sure.
-
Thanks, Sue. You are probably right. Most of the time I have lost weight by healthy eating, but the last few years I have done more of the crash dieting for special events. (Low carb, usually.) I think that, coupled with the loss of muscle mass from aging and less movement (I used to dance 5 days a week!) has slowed me…

What do you guys think about the calorie cycle? I change my goal in MFP every day to indicate my goal for the day?
-
Thanks for your responses. I am measuring and weighing food, so I am getting an accurate count of calories. I know I am not patient, because I have always lost so fast! I did lose 3.4 the first week and then 2.4 the second and 1.2 the third. I guess I am hoping for unrealistic weightloss. I have had 8.5 losses in one week,…
