  • @snowdancer03 welcome to the group! Tracking my foods was magical for me , so great goal. I’ve been good and active this month and have been doing my squats and push-ups thanks to the simple reminder on my .phone.
  • @MadisonMolly2017 , I also should stop eating at 7:30, but I’m not ready to commit to that yet. 🤣 I’ve been doing well with my activity level. I’ve already biked 10 miles this week. I made it to my park meetup on Tuesday morning, and since the weather has been warm, I’m doing my yoga outside in the evening. The reminders…
  • @MadisonMolly2017 , I love my meet up group. When our Curves closed, we didn’t want to stop exercising together, so one of the members who is an organizer collected emails and we started meeting once a week, first to walk. Later we decided to do a body basics routine in the park a few blocks from the original Curves…
  • @MadisonMolly2017 I can do pushups from the ground, but I usually do them against a counter. The reminder seems to help me have something to track. Today I got to go to my meetup group at the park. Hooray !
  • What a fabulous plan for your bedtime routine @MadisonMolly2017! I added a daily reminder in my phone to do 10 squats and 10 pushups. These will be my short term waiting exercises. Hopefully that will be an effective cue.
  • @MadisonMolly2017 Yay for the new phone and watch! That’s going to be make tracking a bit more fun. Interesting about the sodium thing. @TerriRichardson112 , getting to bed earlier is a great goal. My household is an early to bed one, but my sister is quite the opposite. So far I’m sitting less this month. I’m trying to…
  • It’s a good month to spring from our chairs! I love the challenge. Thanks for the reminder to just grab some movement when I have a chance instead of waiting until I have the time for a real walk or a workout. In fact, as soon as I started reading your post @themedalist I jumped onto my stationary bike. 🚴
  • March was a great month for me. All 31 days practicing my mindfulness feet up the wall habit. Yay! 12 days straight staying under my calorie goal. 114 miles walked @MadisonMolly2017 , that’s so wonderful. You are making amazing progress! @TerriRichardson112 , you are such an inspiration! You’re really going great! Those…
  • @MadisonMolly2017 Hooray for good labs! 🙌 I hope you like the new doctors. I’m sorry to say I’m disappointed with James Clear’s Atoms app. After letting me track a second habit for 7 days, all I get when I try to post that I hit my calorie goal is a prompt to buy the premium version. 😝🤑 Day 30 of my feet up the wall…
  • @TerriRichardson112 - wow 🤩 you ripped that active minutes goal to pieces! I like the idea of focusing on the process rather than outcomes. After all , it’s hard to measure better health, but that outcome will happen if you stick with a healthy process. @MadisonMolly2017 , it can be hard to keep fresh veggies in the house…
  • @MadisonMolly2017 , my daughter loves dressing her salads with olive oil, a fresh squeezed lemon, and some garlic. Since we have a glorious lemon tree, the lemons are readily available. I should squeeze some and put it in the freezer for summertime when they’ll be gone. Tonight I plan to go dancing. 💃 Day 25 feet up the…
  • @MadisonMolly2017 , I hear you about crackers and cheese! Crackers are a definite trigger for me. I really can’t have them in the house except saltines which I can generally resist, but sometimes not. Hooray for dealing with the excess of your fabric/paper stash - that’s hard work 👏 @TerriRichardson112 I agree - I’m not…
  • @MadisonMolly2017 , I’ll blame it on Daylight Savings 🤣 I do hate time change! Actually it was also my husband’s birthday, so I added extra carbs early in the week. I thought I incorporated them into my diet pretty well, but that was probably what set up my problem. This morning I remembered that this time last year, I set…
  • @MadisonMolly2017 , thanks for sharing your work on your diet. I’m really struggling with my diet. I want to eat carbs especially. I guess my next mindfulness habit to work on is diet. In fact, I might just add that to the Atoms app. Now, how shall I make that a SMART habit… I’m staying the course with my feet up the wall…
  • I totally agree @TerriRichardson112 ! The Atoms app would have been better when I first started on my habit reformation. But free is definitely the way to go. @MadisonMolly2017 , you are so good with your tracking. I hate when you discover something you thought was that bad was worse than anticipated. I remember ordering a…
  • Great going @MadisonMolly2017 ! I like the idea of cooking at your baseline. You make me think that I should look at my sodium and saturated fat numbers, but I’m afraid to. 😳🤣😉😳 I did find out a negative about the Atoms app - the full version is pretty pricey🤑. I’m just using the free/trial version. Even though it’s…
  • I love your goals @MadisonMolly2017 . I’m so sorry to hear of your broken leg! You definitely need help with the caregiving tasks, and I’m glad your siblings are stepping up. Hooray for PT and OT! It’s great to be able to work with you over an extended time. I’m loving the Atoms app! I realize today that the vibration it…
  • March 5 - Legs up the wall 🧘 I’m a strong woman who is calm. March 6 - Legs up the wall 🧘 I’m a strong woman who is calm.
  • March 4 - Legs up the wall 🧘 I’m a strong woman who is calm. Extra credit: I’ve noticed that my legs up the wall practice seems to mean my feet feel better at the end of the day.
  • @donna25trinity , I can’t decide which of your goals I appreciate most! Each seems like a major way to reduce stress and be more mindful. I’m jealous of those morning beach dips! Getting that Vitamin Sea! You’d think that living in L.A., I’d spend a lot of time at the beach, but I’m doing well to hit the beach more than…
  • @themedalist , I really need to look into the Calm app. My daughter uses it daily, and is finding it very helpful. That lifetime subscription sounds great! I also love the idea of cycling through a lovely landscape. Although I really appreciate my spin bike, it faces our shelves of stockpiled paper products, so I often…
  • @donna25trinity I will indeed give a report. Right now I’m only tracking my legs up the wall habit, so it’s pretty simple. I’d like to add others and will report back more then. Pressing the habit button and having it say I’m a strong woman does give me a simple little reward, so hopefully it will help to solidify this new…
  • Mindfulness is a pretty large task so I’m starting with a small step. 1. This March I will practice being mindful. 2. The small, actionable steps I plan to take towards this goal: I will start the day with a short mindful practice of legs up the wall. 🧘 3. My reminder or cue to keep up with my habit when I wake up, usually…
  • News Flash! James Clear author of one of my favorite habit books Atomic Habits just launched an app. I think it’s only in iOS so far, but he planned to launch for Android device users. It’s called Atoms. I just downloaded it and will see how I like it.
  • Final check-in for February Lots of movement- February report: Hours outside: 29 135 Miles/steps 74 Miles on the bike Stats for January: Hours outside: 31 99 miles/steps 34 miles on the bike.
  • @Corina1143 , getting up and exercising is hard especially if you’re facing a chilly morning and your bed is warm and cozy. I have no special cure to the issue. Try different strategies. I’ve recently started stretching in bed. This morning I spent about 10 minutes in bed and in my bedroom stretching and doing some squats,…
  • @Bella_Figura , you are doing so well! Hydration, reining in snacks, and adding movement/exercise - all foundational habit. I need to look up Zwift workouts. Yay for a positive hospital appointment for your husband. @Corina1143 , prelogging is such a great idea. As for sleeping, I’m an insomniac, so I figure if I’m in bed,…
  • I’m glad to help this great group! I hope I do a good job. For me, this month has been centered around a big event - a ball this weekend. I’ve been working on cleaning house and preparing for my sister to visit for the ball. It was wonderful! For the second half of the month, I plan to bike 40 mile on my spin bike. To…
  • @Empress62 , good idea about the reminder! Changing our food choices is hard because much of what we eat is from confirmed habits, so change is a struggle. My February is going well, I’m sticking with my regular habits, trying to keep practicing them. One newish habit is making a weekly plan to help e keep track of what I…
  • @Empress62 , that’s a great habit. Small habits are the best way to get to a goal. Two great books about building better habits are Tiny Habits and Atomic Habits, so you taking the SMART approach. I haven’t decided what habit I’ll work on for February, but maybe I’ll think of one this weekend.
